1 Chapter 1

"Jenny run, run faster" I panted heavily looking at Jenny who was having trouble running, I held her hand to assist her to quicken her pace. We were being chased by a group of  bandits who came from the parallel  dimension

"I'm tired.....April don't think I can run anymore" jenny said exhaling and inhaling loudly, her hand slipped out of mine,her eyes watery, this made my heart sink

"Jenny you can do this, mum is waiting for us remember " I said trying to cheer her up, it didn't appear to work,  her breathing became louder,  

Jenny was a sickle cell patient, this type of work is not good for her, hugging take a lot of energy running takes more than that.

Jenny's hand slipped away from mine as she fell to the ground.

"Ah...April my leg" Jenny cried out  holding her leg in agony, 

Turning back I saw Jenny on the floor, her face now filled with an endless stream of tears

"Jenny" I rushed to her aid

Her right leg was bruised badly, it was twisted

I looked behind Jenny's shoulder and saw the bandits catching up to us

"Get on my back" I stood up, facing my back at Jenny

"April..but"

"Quickly" I said my voice becoming louder which made Jenny shudder

She climbed on me 

I began to run faster than I did  before

"Hey get back here you thieves" one of them yelled angrily

*flashback*

Mum coughed heavily, her fever was getting worse

I could not do anything except to watch her, there was no towel, no hot water

I placed her dirty cloth on her mouth, she coughed again this time coughing blood,

I was really worried

Ever since I was born I knew nothing but to run and hide, dad died when I was seven, he sacrificed himself to save us.

We had no freedom and loved lived like a prisoner who just escaped from his cell in my world

We had three worlds in this dimension, the wasteland or so they call it was my world, the two worlds drop different dangerous  chemicals and radioactive materials here, a world where we were captured and played with like pets, an open field free for the two worlds to hunt, they where the hunters we were the hunted

The second world was nowhere near the first one but they stood their ground and had resources to back them up, we call them the Trials, it was a peaceful world and many of us who lived here tried to smuggle into their world,  one percent out if hundreds where successful and lastly the Triumph world because they came out triumphant

They were worst than the worst, they made our lives a living hell, played with us and trashed our fathers land, I can't count how many times I have seen our girls been raped on an open filled not by one of them the least was three, our men were treated like cows, what am I saying cows lived a better life than them.

We had no ruler, everyone lived their lives running and hiding

Why we haven't been caught, I don't know

surviving was hard, mum's cough keeps on getting worse day by day

"April.....I don't think I have much time left,  take good care of your sister, do not let anything happen to her..." Mum said weakly, her face looking thin and dull

"Nothing will happen to the both of you when I am here, mum please don't say such a thing again" I wiped the tears in my eyes,

mum smiled sadly Jenny was already crying, snort ran out of her nose like a thick stream, she was a mess

"I know my dear April" she smiled weakly,

she called me closer bringing my right palm closer to Jenny's hand

"I know, but you guys should look after each other, never fall apart and remember where you came from and be good to each other " she smiled sadly and coughed her situation was worsening I needed to do something about it.

I left where my mum was laid.

"April what are we going to do about mum, her situation keeps getting worst" Jenny who was only a year younger than me asked, her voice breaking every second throughout the sentence, she was trying hard to stop herself from crying

"what are we going to do" she felt frustrated I patted her on her back

"I have a plan"

"Everything is going to be alright"  I removed the stroke of hair on her face

"How" she said

" The people from triumph are around here, I saw them off-load some goods earlier they might have some medicine on them" what u was suggesting was a difficult task, the rate of me succeeding was zero out of ten, but they left me with no choice, mum was slowly dying, if I don't act fast it may be too late, they were only providing me with one solution

"I'm going to steal from them" I said boldly even though I was trembling

"I'm coming with you" Jenny worn out and teary face turned into excitement her eyes shimmering with hope

"No!!, it is too dangerous for me to go alone taking you along would lower my chance of succeeding, you would slow me down" I said trying to discourage her

"I promise, I won't slow you down" Jenny begged

"No matter what you say, I would not change my decision, you are staying here and that is final, look after mum when am gone"  I said sternly which showed that I was not joking

Jenny was quiet,  I left there to go to sleep

I layed flat on the cold floor thinking of a plan, going there heads on would just lead to my death.

*Next morning

I woke up very early to get to town early and also not to disturb mum and Jenny,  I washed myself in the nearest river,  took my late dad's long black coat which made me look so small in it, I came out of the cave we now live in, 

The morning sun shined brightly,  I closed my eyes a bit and yawned loudly while covering my mouth, I did not pass the road to avoid being noticed

My world was practically a forest since only one percent of the human including the animals live here and in hiding.

I pushed the hard leaves and passed through it,  I spotted some hired bandits in front and changed directions quickly to avoid being sniffed out, I don't know how they do it but they easily find people behind them, in front and so on.

I went to  the thicker part of the forest,  I knew everywhere already I crossed a narrow lake then turned right after a long walk I burst out of the forest and into the town,  it looked empty and so bushy I pushed my trembling self  to walk faster  hiding through buildings to get to the large truck,  I saw some elite offloading goods to the ground from the truck,  the provision would last them a week here because the elite where too much,  I waited for them to leave,  it took forever but they finally left

I tiptoed to the truck in case anyone of them remained,  I feared being caught. Finally, I am inside I said to myself happily

"And you said it would be difficult"  a familiar voice said I turned back to see Jenny smiling annoyingly at me,  I was so angry

"WHAT  ARE YOU DOING HERE" I whispered, she did not reply and started going through the offloaded goods,  she saw a white big box and opened it she smiled widely saying

"Found the medicine box" my eyes widened, a wave of relief rushed over me I went to meet her happily

She opened the box and I saw some medicinal herbs,  I searched through the box and saw nothing but herbs I knew little about medicine because of my mother and Jenny.

What I was seeing was different types of herbs, I had never seen such in my life, so they use a different types of herbs there, I thought our universe was parallel so things here would be the same as the things over there

  I felt hopeless,  Jenny was still going through the drugs with hope that she would find something we could relate with

"Jenny there is nothing here" I said calmly, squatting against the wall,

" We have not gone through everything yet" Kenny said with a shaky voice,  we both forgot that since they were not from the earth they would not use any medicine from the earth

"We can't find it here, nothing here looks familiar" I closed the gap between us patting her long straight blonde hair

"Then let's carry what our hands can carry and try them one after the other on mum, to see if one of them works" Jenny said determined

"Mum is not our lab rat" I paused "And besides what if some of it were not meant for her condition,  what if it kill because we are not one of them" I quickly added

"We need to consider all this thi......"

"So what are we going to do about mum's condition"  Jenny cut me off

"I ....I.....don't know" i was speechless,  Jenny's face displayed no emotion she was too exhausted for that

"Who is that, show me your face" a voice said from behind, the guards where back

"Oh no!!, oh my God,  they are back" I whispered to Jenny who came back to her senses after hearing one of the guards voice

"Is anyone back there" the same voice said,  I think he thought we were elite to

"Can't you answer?" another voice said 

I was trembling , first I did not know how many they were and secondly there was no place to hide .

Jenny grabbed my hand and ran out of the only door in the truck,  I saw three men in front of the truck immediately they saw us they pounced on us and caught us. I don't know what Jenny was trying to prove, the elite was ten times stronger than we humans .

A tall good looking young man with long straight dark shiny hair,  he looked like someone who came from a korea dynasty,  they all looked like people who came from the past,  the tall one angrily grabbed Jenny and tied her to the truck he was so fast that I did not see him move only that my sister was tied to the truck , I thought he would be as gentle as his looks,  he threw a cold glare at me as if knowing what i was thinking which sent chills to my spine

"What are you still waiting for tie her to the truck we would be shipping these two with the others" he said coldly, it looked like he was the leader

My heart was racing faster, mum would be looking for us,  how are we going to escape,  why did Jenny follow me, what am I going to do

I was sweating profusely, why did we not leave sooner,  I felt so helpless

The second guy tied me tightly to the truck,  even if I wanted to untie it,  it would not budge 

"I am sorry,  if only I stopped searching siiner we would not have met them,  it's all my fault" she said sadly

"If only I had not gone with you this would not have happened" she faced the floor

"Its not your fault you were only thinking of mum" I tried consoling her

After some minutes passed one of the three elite guards came to check on us

"Untie them, let's load them in the truck"  one of the guard said, he looked like the leader, the way he carried himself and the confidence oozing out from him

This was the only chance we had to escape,  I gave her that look which she knew too well and she knew exactly what we needed to do,_ immediately they untied us we pushed them and ran as far as we could.

Back to the present

"Everything is going......to be.....alright" I said even though I know everything is not going to be okay,  I was losing strength and I felt so dizzy

"April" Jenny said quite frightened

"Are you okay" her voice seemed farther and farther my head was spinning before I knew it I fell to the ground, my eyes where blurry, my legs gave up on me.

I fainted .

I woke to see nothing but darkness I felt a cold steel on my hand,  I tried  moving my hand but it was chained,  my head was covered with a sac,  my legs were chained,  I had no idea of what was going on the only thing I could remember was me running then it dawned on me that I was captured by those men who pursued me,  if I was captured then where is jenny and mum we could not get the drugs we wanted to,  I was so frustrated

"Jenny.....Jenny are you there" I moved my chained hands incase there was anyone around

"Jenny' I tried calling her name one more time incase she was nearby

" April...is that you" I heard her shaky voice

"Yes, it's me where are you" I moved my hands furiously to check if she was close to me cause her voice seemed close

"I don't know I can't see" she said

"Okay tell me what happened,  how did they capture us"

"April" she sobbed

"Mum...mum" she said in between tears making me anxious

"What happened to mum" I said with a worried tone

"Mum...died."
