Chapter 4

Diana

"I'm so happy that uncle is back can't wait to see him!" Dylan jumped in his seat excitedly with a smile.

"Yeah, yeah. Just wait till I tell him how you have been really mean to me all this while." I said while looking at my iPad were I was designing a cover for my short story.

"Go ahead, he won't believe a butterfly in Fairytopia." He did the quote sign sarcastically. Sometimes I wonder if he truly is my twin brother maybe the doctors exchange my real brother for this one.

I rolled my eyes, "fuck off, with your stupid daydream. Uncle loves me as much as he loves you, why wouldn't he believe me?"

"Your business!" He snatched my iPad raising it up high out of my reach, "still making a cover huh?" He smirk.

"Give it back Dylan! Stop it!" I yelled as I tried to reach for it.

"Is okay kids! Dylan give your sister back her iPad! And Diana stop cursing at your brother. If you both continue nagging yourselves I'll be force to take a turn back home!" Dad said.

"No!" We both said and did what he demanded.

I shoot Dylan a glare and he just laughed. Stupid.

A short while after, Dad pulls in the infinite palace of uncle Ken! Dylan hopped down enthusiastically as usual, why does Boys have so much energy to waste?

I shook my head as I grabbed my bag and went down on my turn. We walk pass the guards who remained put to our visits, they always look like some statue or something lifeless.

"What a pleasure to see my brother!" Dad exclaimed as he went to hug uncle Ken who was waiting patiently for us on the sofa with a glass of wine.

"It's always so good to see you, and my little pirates." He opened his arms for use to run into.

Dylan is always the first to be cuddle, he can be so childish, he gets all upset when is vice vasa. I have a more higher IQ than him uncle Ken seem to have understood that, after all he is the eldest and acts infantile though he is sixteen.

I watch him ruffled Dylan's hair, and when it came to me he brushed the locks from my face.

"Hey uncle Ken, what did you get for me?" Dylan said, I rolled my eyes while Dad cleared his throat. What a boy with no manners.

"What Dad? I'm just asking for a gift not crucifying Jesus." He rolled his eyes with a huff.

Uncle Ken only smiled lopsided at his words. Sometimes I think he is a bad influence on us, but yet I still love him, though he is in the Mafia and stuff, that's not my business by the way.

"Of caused Lil D, is upstairs the right door." He gestured.

"Last upstairs is a freak!" He yelled before running upstairs.

"You didn't give the count down! That's not fair!" I called out as I ran behind him.

We entered the specified room where our gifts were waiting. Dylan jumped on the red wrapped package. I shook my head at his action as I went over the pink wrapped package.

For my dear princess of wild. K

I smiled at the little note, only uncle Ken understands me in my just value. I unwrapped the huge package revealing all the complete volume of LORDS OF THE RINGS, I had always asked for it, but I couldn't get all as a collection. I grinned at the thought of reading it before going to bed.

"Always so nerdy." Dylan hopped on his hover board riding away. I put the books in my bag, retrieving only vol. 1 to start with.

I read as I walked in the hall in direction of my favorite balcony.

I can never trip while reading, I'm so good at 'read working'

I walked past the east wing, where the stairs lead down to the basement.

The faint Bump... Bump... Was what brought my attention to the stairs, I stopped in my tracks and turn around stranding my ears so to the stairs so I could hear clearly. Again I heard the bump... bump...

I furrowed my brows, holding my index finger on the page I was reading as I shut it. I took quiet steps to the stairs. The bump... bump... Increased with 1.5MHz.

No doubt someone or something was in there. I looked around debating on whether to call Dylan or not, but then he would make fun of me after for been such a scar cat, ugh! If he wasn't such a dick we would've been identical in manners.

I pick up enough courage to walk down the stairs and continue down the narrow hall, is it me or the black wall and dim light was very erring.

The sound kept increasing which each step I made, I was lead by it to the door of the basement, I've never been to this part of the house, it always give me the creep.

The key was still on the lock so I twisted it and crack the door open, the door never creak, so I guess whatever it was hasn't noticed me yet cause the BUMP! BUMP! Continued.

I slipped through the slight open and went in the dark room turning the torchlight before. The sudden strangle of the noise gave me goosebumps, I looked around while going further.

"Hello." I called out but only heard the echo of my voice as a reply.

I spotted a cuff close to the pillar that had dried stain of blood on it.

Beware trapped ghost.

I read out loud, those words were written in bold with blood. OK. This is it I'm getting out of here.

I started turning around when all of a sudden I felt a hand on my mouth.

I screamed but in no avail my voice was muffled by some bloody palm.

"Hi." He said.

I raided my touch up so I could see what monster it was, but to my greatest surprise, it was just a boy who was now squinting at how dazzling the light was.

"Who are you?!" I screamed when I met his feline eyes, his pupils were extremely tiny and the ring around them glowed with the light. Have I discovered a mythical creature like humans?

"Nobody actually. Can you please turn off your touch." He gestured.

I studied him for any abnormal or suspicious clue. He looked normal only beaten up with his bloody face and how he was a little hunched gripping his side. An the collar on his neck. Weird.

"Do you kinda live in hear without anyone knowing?" I said while taking in his ripped clothes. "Or are you a criminal trying to escape the cops." I kept my distance a I spoke glancing at the cuffs.

"None of that. I'm a long story that will soon be cut short." He said while pulling something out from his pocket. I backed away taking a defensive position, I do Marshal art.

"I don't bite." He held out a diamond ring. "I wouldn't be needing it, I'll be going for an eternal sleep very soon."

"Huh?"

"Just take it, it march with your hair by the way."

I reach for it not knowing what to do, he looked small and fragile with an elfin stature.

"Were you kidnapped or something?" I said while taking in his state, I know uncle do nasty business but torture a child?

"Diana?" I heard Dylan's voice coming to my direction, I glance at the door then back at him but he was gone!

I hid the ring in my pocket before Dylan appeared with a mocking smile.

"What are you doing down here, thought it was too spook for your liking?"

"Shut up." I walk pass him climbing back upstairs with the thought of him lingering in my memory.

What the hell is a kid doing in uncle's basement?

"Get your stuff kids is time we start leaving." Dad said he looked displeased. Dad's mode swings always occur after he had had a long discussion with uncle Ken, he won't stop persuading him to quit the mafia but uncle Ken been the badass he is won't listen to his noble elder brother. That's none of my business I can't interfere in their matter yet.

But the kid in the basement. I quickly write a few word behind the note uncle Ken left on my present.

There is a kid in your basement, don't tell me you kidnapped him? He looks beaten and tortured. I need an explanation.

When I went to give him a hug I slipped it in his pocket and he noticed, that's our little trick for exchange when we don't want anyone to know.

As we were heading to the exit I turned around and gestured. He should call me. He half nodded.

I went in first then Dylan, I didn't stop staring at the house as it slowly faded, with the beat up boy in it. Did he have mother and father that are probably shaking heaven and earth to find him.

If uncle Kendrick is behind this I'll never forgive him for becoming so heartless.
