With my belly growing bigger and the baby moving more and more, the time for giving birth was obviously drawing close, and we hadn't yet done anything to prepare for his arrival. To fix this, I decided to drag Jacob along to go shopping for baby items.

I could make diapers, clothes, and a baby-carrier myself, and as to feeding the baby, I could naturally do so myself as well. The only things I couldn't make myself were bottles, a baby carriage, and most importantly, a crib. That required a carpenter.

"Excuse me, do you know where I can find someone who can make a crib?" Jacob asked a woman who was pushing a baby carriage. Unlike the baby carriages in Jacob's world, this one had wood wheels and no mechanism for shock-absorption, so it shook and rattled much more, though it didn't seem to hurt the baby, perhaps thanks to the flat-cut stones that were used for pavement.
