If there was no other door then I had to try a window. Although all the windows were closed, perhaps not all were locked. The windows of the bedrooms and kitchen were small so I tried the bathroom window, but I couldn't open it. Next I tried the dining area window. After carefully examining it I found that it was latched, but I was able to open the latch.

The wall I thought I saw on the other side of the glass turned out to be a panel of shutters. They were closed, but like the glass, they were on a sliding frame that was latched shut. I opened the latch and slid the shutters sideways, opening the window completely.
