21. you ruined everything.

Distracted from the older woman's legs being exposed, Wang Yi got astonished as his face and whole body heats up. So with anger mixed embarrassment, he screams,

"AAAHH!! WHY'D YOU RIP THEM!??? WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING!!!??"

"Who's planning!?? Stop acting like you've  never seen a female before!!! Or are you seriously- ??"

The forgotten demons took this as a cue to make a move while they were distracted in their own argument.

"B-but why would you-, Ah!! Teacher! Behind you!!"

Xiao Xiao turns around, but before she could dodge the sudden attack of the blade from the corrupted demon, Wang Yi unexpectedly appeared right in front of her.

The younger stops the demon, in result with receiving half of the attack, which landed on top of his nose with a long cut. Then with his bare hands covered in sharpened talons, the teen manages to rip the arm off of the corrupted.

Caught in surprise, Xiao Xiao quickly recovers as she let out sun energy, aiming her sword at the arm ripped demon, who soon started to feel the fire within himself.

"Curse you...cultivator..."

Were one of the last words of the elderly corrupted as he gets burned down. After many kills of corrupted demons they've defeated, he was supposedly the last one.

Breathing heavily, Wang Yi, whose face got cut with blood gushing all over, tries to cover his face with a cloth he brought out from his pocket.

"...this one's definitely gonna leave a huge butt of a scar. Gonna take ages to regenate..."

He hisses with  a complaint when pressing on the injury to stop the blood from flowing further.

Xiao Xiao catches on her breath to comment,

"I don't want you to get excited now-, But we formed a good team."

Hearing those rare positive remarks of approval coming from his strict teacher, Wang Yi couldn't help feeling flattered, cheeks turning pink.

"Well, I guess I should do more hunting with you then- "

Suddenly she lifts the younger one's chin to have a good look at the place he got a cut at.

The older, feeling regretful, judges by the blade the demon had, so it could have been way worse than this deep scar on his face.

The caught off guard teen stares, dumbfounded. Once their eyes meet, Xiao Xiao adds in a furious tone,

"...Just what were you thinking!???  You shouldn't have stepped out here, did you forget I was your teacher and older than you who has more experience !!!!?? This was nothing for me, I could have easily handled it myself!! You know clearly something worse could have happened to you so why would you act so recklessly- "

Wang Yi found himself speechless from looking at the irritated eyes of the older as she further scolds.

" Seriously- What you did was nothing but unnecessary!!"

Xiao Xiao lets go of his chin in a harsh manner, turning away.

"Such a shame...It wouldn't matter if I'd receive another cut, but you?

Just look at yourself!! Such a youthful and clean face now ruined, what will the others think?? You have no idea how those mortal people will start looking at you...I just know it."

Seeing how she started out of nowhere raising her voice at him, Wang Yi was utterly confused.

So with the bitter feeling of being wronged, he didn't realize that the older was frustrated because of regret, not, the way he assumed, out of hatred .

His previous excitement disappearing instantly, forcing him to hesitantly mutter with his head low.

"...I really wonder what is wrong with you."

"Huh?"

She raises a brow at him, contemplating whether she heard it right.

"Like- gah!!!! Instead of scolding like a freaking mad person couldn't you just be freaking grateful!?!! I'm fed up with the way that all you do is argue, scream and be angry!! Can't you be freaking happy for once and not ruin everyone's mood like you always do with your freaking awful temper!??"

Recalling how all his friends and people he know are having a crush on this rabbit teacher makes Wang Yi even more annoyed. Clouded with fury mixed with frustration,  he yells.

" What an unhappy woman that you are!! For real, I really don't get how anyone can even like a person the likes of you!!!!"

"Excuse me!?"

Ignoring her, he continues his insults,

" Honestly, just when are you gonna stop acting like an grumpy old man already!!!!??? No, for a matter of fact you're even worse than that!! I really am curious about how can you live like this!??? You're so-"

Before letting him finish off his burst of pilled up emotions, Xiao Xiao lands a mighty slap to his cheek, forcing his head to turn to the side from the harsh impact.

"You may have forgotten who you're talking to."

She started, voice deep and low, soon beginning to be filled in range.

" Did you think we were friends that you could speak to me in this way!? Or did you think that just because we had to pretend having skinship or even share a foolish and CHILDISH kiss attempt of yours that now you can raise your voice at me, huh!!!?? Just who do you think yourself as!!"

" If you have nothing respectful to say in from of your teacher, I would say you're better off keeping your little stinky fish mouth shut!!"

The one who received the slap, could only stay quiet, starting  to realize what he has just done.

He innerly screams in despair, while also crying from getting his feelings hurt,

" Foolish and CHILDISH kiss!!? Seriously!?? That's how you view my genuine feelings!? Heartless! Just what did I expect!! I should've known, I didn't have to try so hard...after all In her eyes all of this is considered a childish play..."

He makes a sad face, but then gives himself a slap to pull himself together as he points at her,

" Gah, damn it! If I had to choose I wouldn't have shared my sacred first kiss with an old hag of a devil like you either!! Tch, so annoying..."

Then the teen sighs,

"Haiz,  it's all over, I'm done for..!! Why did I even open my mouth!?? How could I say all of that rude stuff to her face!! Am I immortal!?? She was being so annoying and unreasonable that i just- Ugh, whatever! Never mind about that but how can I face her now!?? I deserve death at this point!"

Noticing the quiet teen who had his head low down while having a dull facial expression on, made her calm down from her range in bit of pity .

"Was I too harsh again?"

So she also lets out a sigh, as a last warning, the fierce rabbit sternly says,

" This better be the last time I warn you of watching your freaking mouth when you're speaking to me. Got it?"

Quiet.

"I'm asking you. You got it?"

She repeats, patience about to run out again if he ignores further.

"Yes, teacher."

He reluctantly gives a nod, still keeping his head low.

Not saying anything, Xiao Xiao starts to walk away of the place they were at, to check if there are any other demons hiding or comitting crime. Wang Yi hesitantly follows after her, feeling himself awkward.

"That foolish brat... Just how dare he raise his voice at ME!?? Has he forgotten that I'm his respected teacher and his senior who's double his age!!?? Unbelievable! He must definitely be seeking for death !"

"And  so what? What's wrong with someone, God knows who, liking me !? What's his problem with it anyway, that stinky fish!!"

She then gasps in disbelief,

"Forget about that but how dare he compare me to an old grumpy man!? How horrific!  That's just ourageous! I'd better teach him a real good lesson, which while thinking about it would even make him shake in terror once we reach back home..."

Although on the surface they were both quiet, deep inside they were clouded with thoughts of feeling themselves being misunderstood and unloved...

That they failed to notice that the supposedly burned down elderly corrupted demon, wasn't completely perished yet, instead he somehow regenarated. Thanks to them getting distracted the elder demon can plan his way out to murder these two in secret and win the glory to the corrupted one's.

After some time of roaming around the building of the inn, Wang Yi and Xiao Xiao reached the kitchen.

There was an awkward distance between them, both parties were occupied among themselves.

Xiao Xiao was carefully studying the room that had a scent of human flesh, noticing that just recently they finished a meal of herbivore meat by the tools they used and the bowls they've eaten from.

"Inhumane..."

She held down a vomit the more she looked.

Meanwhile, Wang Yi, who's a marine predator, obviously felt nothing wrong in his body from witnessing this horrific image, but he still would never support this. And so this view angered him more.

Suddenly they both heard a faint noise from different directions, making them pause their movements, "the noise is coming that way!"

The teen thought in alarm. Turning to his teacher he then says with hesitation, "teacher, you...you stay here, alright? I'll just take a look over there and come back."

Finding no reason to reject the kid, Xiao Xiao only shrugs, less worried.

Once the teen left to the other direction, the jade rabbit teacher brought out her hand to feel the table filled in herbivore blood.

"I don't know how many of you were killed here,"

Now with her index finger covered in blood, she smelled "they've killed a rabbit spirit...like always.

These helpless creatures-, humph !???"

Without the woman expecting, a sudden force came surging in that makes Xiao Xiao's front body meet the wall. "Argh!!" Getting pinned by a male presence she recognized as a predator, he says, "D-Don't move or I'll...I'll kill you!!!"

Xiao Xiao got surprised for a second,

given with how he had her elbows locked as he pointed his knife, trying to come off intimidating. Though judging by the voice and the feel of his small body harshly pressed up against hers, it appeared to be a little milk cub, presumably in his early teens.

Immediately she lets out a relieved sigh,

"What can this milky child do... He sure doesn't know who he's messing with."

even though she couldn't see his face with the position she's in, Xiao Xiao with ease snapped her head backwards to hit the other. "Ahh, my eyes!!"

Catching him off guard the way she wanted, with hands now free she snatched the knife he was holding and with her other free hand she grabs both of his hands to pin them on top of his head.

Without wasting another second came forward the knife that was lead towards the boy's neck.

Stunned, the teen could only helplessly lean further against the wall to avoid the sharp edge of the knife.

With roles being changed in miliseconds, Xiao Xiao could finally see his face.
