Unending

"Fuck it!" Arthur says, suddenly stops thinking for a solution and decides to just to act.

"Thinking has never been my solution to things and never got me anywhere thus far, so let's just stick to my strengths. Pure, overwhelming force! I will make it through one way or another." Arthur mutters to himself and nods as if satisfied with himself.

All the while, he was casually killing monsters, and beasts left and right as if they were nothing but dirt in his way, ready to be swept aside. The only thing actually making him dodge was the mysterious shadow being with its invisible attacks striking out at him.

Arthur still could not see a thing in this pure darkness that encapsulated the entire world, but he could still feel everything around him. His instincts and battle senses still working just fine. And that is all that he needs.

"Time to stop playing around." Arthur says as he begins to twirl his spear between his two hands and around his neck as if he is dancing with the spear. He then dodges another strike from the shadow being by jumping in the air, doing an acrobatic flip and twist as he lands a couple of hundred feet away, skidding along the ground, slaying each beast in his path.

Then he stops, taking a step back, heaving his spear over his shoulder in a javelin throw position. His muscles bulge, and his veins pop as a wide smile finds its way upon his face. He slowly drags the spear back as far as he can hold it, and then he stomps a single foot forward.

And then releases it!

The spear flies forward, shattering sound itself, causing a pop to be heard around the world. And it goes forward unfettered and unstoppable, destroying everything in its path, even shadows and darkness itself.

A single ray of sunlight then shines through the darkness. Shining right on Arthur and through the path that the spear took.

Somethign else stood in the path of the single ray of sunlight. The shadow being, though, what was left of it at least. For its entire upper body was gone, with its shadowy legs collapsed to the ground, bent over as if praying.

Alas, the single ray of hope and light was soon devoured as the darkness once more took the stage. But Arthur remained undeterred as he held out his hand, and soon enough, the spear appeared back where it belonged, right in this hand, held by his fingers.

Now that the shadow beast is down for the count and the random monsters are decimated, there is only one foe left. Methenalis himself, the God of Darkness.

And so, Arthur began to walk. Steadily through the darkness, not faltering a single step as he made his way towards the so-called God, who now stood slack-jawed in surprise. For he at that moment, the spear took off and broke his darkness; he felt his divinity crack.

Something that was an impossibility to him, as divinities are the highest forms of power and energy in existence, he thought. So for something to crack it, to have to possibility to destroy it, well, it broke his beliefs and all that he knew to be true.

This mortal man continue to break conventions, to surprise even him a God, and now that mortal was walking to him after having demolished everything that was sent his way. Methenalis clenched his jaw and scraped his teeth together in both anger and indignation at the situation he had found himself in.

"DAMNABLE MORTAL! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE OR HOW YOU DO ANY OF THIS, BUT I WILL NOT LET THIS BE MY END! SO TAKE THIS!" Methenalis yells, trying to even make himself believe what he says, as he takes away all the darkness that captured the world within.

He condenses it together into a rain of arrows above his head, numbering in the tens of millions. Each filled with the power of a God, the divinity of darkness making the arrows as black as the night itself and shimmering within the void.

Then the God raises his arm above his head, and then he lets it fall. The arrows then break loose, all of them heading towards a single man, still just steadily walking forward without a care in the world, his eyes still closed as if the darkness was still surrounding him.

But then, as the arrows close in on this man, his eyes open, a clear vision shown within as the unending rain of darkness-filled arrows begins to rain down upon him. Yet all he does is swing his spear in a wide arc, and no arrows get close to him. One swing after another, then another. As any arrows get close to him, he just swings his spear to dissipate them as if they never existed in the first place.

Each step thunders to the surroundings as he steps forward, never faltering and never flinching in the face of these divine arrows. And soon enough, there were no more arrows to be had, no more darkness to be found, and so Arthur takes one more step before he stops and squints his eyes in disappointment.

For now, he has encountered a situation he was not used to. And found a type of enemy he had never faced before.

A coward!

Because the God, Methenalis, was gone. He ran away as he used the vast amount of arrows to cover his escape and distract his enemy. And not even Arthur could stop a God from running away.

Hell, he never thought he would have to. Even in that realm of monsters and beasts, they always fought to the end once in a fight. Though some beasts would run away if they sensed a strong foe nearby, once in a fight, they would never retreat. They would fight to the end. And he expected this God to do the same.

But this isn't the end. For this, just made him smile.

The hunt can now begin!
