Inheritance

"It's been about 500 years since the last appearance of a dragonlord. I almost thought I wouldn't get to see one till my essence finally faded. And with the fall of the last dragonlord, the dragons lost a great portion of our strength."

"The last great war was also where I lost my life. Over the last few years I've tried spreading my spirit as far as I can muster and have realized that the major cities, are expanding rapidly. Covering more ground, and enriching their army, the target, Dragons." he said. pausing briefly, his face held an expression of annoyance more than anything else.

"For as long as we continue to exist, other races will continue to see us as a threat, even though their existences are nothing but wind to us. If not for our dwindling numbers, we could just wipe out all other races. But that would prove fatal for both sides, although a lesser evil is still needed to combat a greater evil."

"So, dragonlord", he called out sounding serious. "I want you to journey to Dragonhold and speak to the dragonking. I will pass on some of my knowledge to you and leave a soul imprint on you. It might be hard getting an audience with that old geezer otherwise. Do you consent?"

"I accept." Lucian shouted in elation.

'Seems like the good stuff is about to start'

Falkor breathed in sharply and closed his eyes positioning himself in front of Lucian. He breathed out on Lucian slowly, passing some sort of blue energy to him. The longer he continued this process, the dimmer his spirit appeared. Before his last essence dissipated, he left him one message, "You're our only hope now, dragonlord."

The second after the last bit of dragon essence dissipated, a couple of notifications flashed past his eyes, the contents almost making him leap for Joy.

He brought his hand forward and flames sprouted from his palms while his magika dropped rapidly in response.

He then brought out the Dragon bone's sword, swinging it around a few times. It felt perfect in his hand.

It had an ivory-colored elongated blade, etched with intricate patterns resembling dragon's scales. The handle was also made from dragon bone, decorated with runes and symbols. A small dragon motif adorned the pommel, completing the sword.

It was safe to say his confidence multiplied a hundred times. Feeling rejuvenated, he searched the area where the dragon bones lie and found a few healing potion and magika regeneration potions. He also found 3 black pills that increased fire magic strength. Storing them in his inventory, he continued walking towards Whiterun, humming a little tune along the way.

—————

It was early afternoon when he arrived at the guard post of the city. Before he arrived near Whiterun though, he kept Saphira in the "pet space", a pocket dimension for safe-keeping pets.

As he continued into the city, a guard stopped him and walked slowly towards him, sizing him up as he did.

"Aye, I haven't seen you around here. What business do you have in Whiterun, traveler?"

Lucian looks at him, careful not to look suspicious before completely lying through his teeth. "You must be mistaken. I've come to see the War-Bears."

The guard gave him one more look before nodding his head, allowing him to enter through the gate.
