14 Chapter 14 - Swift

'Weird things are happening around us.'

It has been two days now since they left the crater. And they have been noticing weird things happening around them. Like that moon disappearing and Mina miraculously healed. Everything was bizarre.

And even weirder is that Mina's hair has started growing rapidly in these past days. It has already reached till her shoulders now. And she still stayed the bald-headed girl. Miracle or not she don't care, she am very happy that she finally is healthy again.

Reya felt a small pull on her shirt that snapped her out of her reverie.

"Reya do you have a hair tie?" Mina said playing with her brown hair.

"Hmm, it might have some in my bag pack," she said shuffling through her bag.

Her hands caught an old scrunchie of her's inside her bag.

'Oh, it was still here,'

Reya gazed at the worn out pastel pink scrunchie. 'This really does bring back memories,' she thought chuckling a little.

Her best friend Vickie and she made this one on her 14th birthday. It was one of their DIY projects; well it was the most successful one they have tried. They made matching ones and wore it to school every day. That explains the wear and tear on it.

They were the thickest of thieves and they used to do everything, but without her here it seems kind of dull. The last she heard she had gone on a trip to Los Angeles, so they lost contact after the apocalypse.

'I hope Vickie is safe,' she mentally prayed gazing skywards looking at that weird red planet.

"Reya?" Mina called, snapping her out of her reverie.

"Here," Reya handed it over to her.

Mina tried pulling her hair back and tried wearing it. But the scrunchie just flew out of her hands. "Hehe," chuckling at her antics she said, "It's not done like that."

"Here, let me help," Reya stopped walking and started braiding her shiny brown hair.

"That feels so good, hehe," Mina giggled and wiggled when she brushed her scalp.

"Haha, you should not move so much like that. The braids will become crocked," Reya chuckled, holding her shoulders down. "You have to pull you hair backwards like this," she said as she tied her hair back.

"This part here goes over, and this part here goes over here. The third part goes on top of both."

she explained as she continued braiding her air.

"All done. Wow, it's beautiful,"

Reya marveled at her own master piece. "My mina looks so cute with long hair," she cooed, pulling her face close to mine.

"Really," Mina whispered with slightly tinted cheeks.

"Yes, of course. After all, my Mina is the queen of Andals and the mother of dragons," she dramatically bowed in front of her.

"Hehe, Stop it Reya" she giggled, hugging her head to her little belly. Turning her head to the left, she saw their mother was just thirty feet away from them.

She was having a heated discussion with Mr.Kooper and would occasionally throw her head back with laughter.

'Those two are chummy,'

With a crafty smile she turned to Mina

"Why don't we show it off to mum," Reya said, tickling her jelly belly.

"okey," she said and gave her a gappy toothed smile.

Smirking, she glanced at her mom again, but something else caught her attention.

A huge piece of rubble was hanging from a small piece of metal rod just above her mom. It was swaying slightly to the wind. As she was watching the metal pole snapped and the concrete fell from above.

"Mom! Watch out" Reya screamed and ran towards her.

Wing gushed on her face as she ran and hugged her to her body. Her momentum pushed them both to the side, and they rolled on the jagged floor. Pieces of rubble scrapped her arms and legs as they came to a halt.

The piece of concrete landed just next to them, missing them by less than a foot.

"Mom, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere," she questioned and started checking her entire body.

"Oh my god, are guys okay down there?" Mr.Kooper shouted and ran towards them.

"Yes, we are fine," "Yes, we're okay Mr.Kooper," they answered together, while climbing up from the rubble ground.

"Thank the lords," he whispered, pulling them both away from the destroyed pathway.

Momma Jade looked up at the ruined building and whispered, "Wow I didn't see that coming."

"Thankfully you were close by Reya," her mom said and hugged her close.

"But... but she was not," Mina whispered as she ran close to them.

"Reya was with me there," she pointed towards the ruined red building, where they stood braiding her hair.

"Yes, how.... how did you run so fast?" Mr.Kooper whispered, peering at her with a peculiar look.

"Like you were there then the next second you were here," he said wildly, gesturing with his hands.

"How?" he gave her a wide-eyed glance.

"I..... I don't know," she whispered, hugging her mom close.

"Oh god, look there Reya." He said pointing towards the speed indicator just past the road. It was displaying a whopping number 330 Km/h.

"Unbelievable. You were travelling faster than speed of a Naskar car," he whispered, giving her an astonished look.

"But that's not humanely possible," she whispered.

'Indeed, weird things are still happening around us and no one could explain these phenomena.'
