1 Death

It was a chilly Friday afternoon in October. Night was walking back from school. He was thinking about the test he just finished.

"Good thing that was the last of them. The stiff atmosphere during test weeks is not very pleasant."

He was a senior in high school. He didn't really study for the tests, but he still had to think to get a passing grade.

Most of the time Night spent his time on his computer playing video games, reading books and watching porn but this weekend he was going to move to his own apartment. His parents had died when he was 8 years old and he had moved to his aunt's house. He barely spoke to his aunt and her husband. They took him in for money, so despite him living in their house for 10 years, he doesn't know them very well. The neighborhood they lived in was little better than average.

Night was closing in on their house as something moved in the corner of his eye. He turned to look what it was and saw something weird. At the far end of their street, there was a person on the roof of one of the houses. Standing on a roof might not be that weird but the person was wearing a horse mask. After watching that for a while he decided to ignore him as a weirdo playing around and went inside the house.

"I'm home."

Night knew no one would answer but he said it anyways. As he went downstairs to his basement, he was thinking about what his aunt had told him the previous day. He would have to leave the house by Monday. Night had his 18th birthday in July, he was little surprised it took them so long to kick him out. He will move out today. He didn't have any attachments to this place, so he was in pretty high spirits.

Night didn't have lots of stuff. He only had to pack his clothes, a laptop and some school stuff. He was planning to rent an apartment near his school and try to think of what to do after that. He had stolen some money from his aunt. If it wasn't for that, he would be a homeless person soon. Night grabbed his bag and closed the door to the basement behind him. And soon the front door as well.

"I'm going now!"

Night started walking towards his school. He would live by himself from now on. He had some thoughts on inviting girls over to his place and had a stupid grin on his face. He was thinking who he would want to invite as he had a sudden chill on his back. Night looked at the empty street behind him. He felt like there was something off but wasn't able to tell what. He turned back towards the school hurrying his steps but as he turned, he saw someone standing in the middle of the street. It was the same horse mask guy from before.

Deciding to ignore him again, Night started walking to the side a little bit so he could go past him. There was still some distance between them. The horse mask didn't move at all and Night couldn't help but find the guy a little bit creepy.

When the distance between the two got close enough to speak, a sudden explosion happened in a nearby house. The explosion was so violent that it threw both of them to the ground. Night was dizzy and wasn't able to think properly. The first thought was that the horse mask did something. But when he looked at the masked man, he was also lying on the ground. Night then looked towards the explosion. He could only see flames and smoke. The house was gone. Trying to get up made him realize his own condition. Both of his legs were broken, and he was only able to feel and see his left arm, the right one was nowhere to be seen. He even tried to feel the spot where his right arm was supposed to be in, but he just felt something wet.

Night couldn't help but smirk sarcastically. Despite his dizziness he was able to understand that he was in a pretty bad spot right now. He was lying on the ground almost completely incapacitated, only able to move his head and the left arm.

While Night was busy observing himself, trying to figure out what to do, the horse mask guy suddenly stood up like nothing had happened and just dusted his clothes. He moved right next to Night and pulled a knife from his pocket. Night noticed the guy too late to even respond to it. The horse mark pierced his chest few times and sliced his neck once leaving multiple fatal wounds on his body.

"You should have just died fast, and it would have been easier for the both of us."

The horse mask turned around and left with those words. Night was only able to curse at him in his mind as his consciousness faded.

...

He felt cold.. He was shaking from the cold. He was able to feel a cold smooth surface under himself.

'What is going on?'

He starts moving slowly. He tried to lift his head up but ended up hitting something hard hurting himself. He was in a cramped space. He wasn't able to move a lot and couldn't see anything which is adding to his confusion.

After calming himself down for a bit he started thinking about his situation.

'Where am I? What exactly happened?'

'Did I die? But I feel alive though.'

'Did someone kidnap me?'

'I'm feeling pretty good right now, just a bit cold.'

'Lot's of weird things happened.'

Night decided he would have to reflect on what happened to him later. He needed to figure out what to do now.

'But still its pitch black here, I wish I could see something.'

At that moment, some text popped in front of him causing him to flinch and hit his head to something hard again.
