More to the girl?

Sergeant Joshua arrived at the SHPD walking straight to the chief's office, greeting some familiar faces on his way. He knocked and after hearing his invite in, he stepped into the office.

The man inside the office sitting behind the desk was Chief of police, Chief Anthony Malcolm, and was somewhere in his 50's. He looked up briefly from his laptop to see who stepped into his office, his face lit up when he saw the person in front of him.

"Good afternoon chief" Sergeant Joshua saluted.

"Good afternoon sergeant, I've been waiting to discuss the present case"

"The case doesn't seem to lead anywhere Chief, forensics couldn't find anything, no fingerprints in the scene, nothing" Joshua said seemingly frustrated.

"How is that even possible Josh, we can't be having a murder in town and telling the people we have no idea who did it, we'll sound stupid and incompetent" the chief said half screaming.

"Detective Kol and I just checked in with the Lab this morning before heading here, Leya found fingerprints in the area surrounding his chest where his heart was pulled out, but when we ran it on the system, it came out empty, no match at all, and the worst part is the hole in his chest where his heart was pulled out seemed to have been dugged in by sharp teeth or claws, which doesn't make any sense, the girl said it was a person that dropped him from the top of the building, not a feral animal" the last part came in a whisper.

"And the man?, any luck on his identity?" asked the chief.

" His name is Rowen Stalls, has multiple criminal records ranging from drug pushing, shop lifting and others, probably moved to town to lay low for a while.

" I see" the chief murmured thoughtfully. "Well bring the girl in for more questioning, we can't just assume she's innocent, she might have reported it, but it still doesn't mean she might not have had something to do with it" the chief said with an exasperated sigh

"Alright Chief" Josh said and walked out of the office.

He headed out to the bar first as he didn't want to just show up at her house and not find her there. He met a closed sign on the glass door and knocked twice before peaking inside the shop to see if Mr Andrew was out front.

After some minutes, Mr Andrew showed up at the door and opened it slightly.

"We ain't open yet Josh" he said smiling at the sergeant.

"Good afternoon Mr Andrew, I'm not here for drinks actually" he smiled back sheepishly. "I'm here to check if Miss Sindell was here before I head to her house".

"What for if I may ask?"

"Well we haven't gotten anywhere with the investigation, so we were hoping she could perhaps shed more light to the situation"

"Ohh" was all Mr Andrew could say.

"Well it's always nice to see you Mr Andrew, see u some other time" he smiled at the bar owner.

"Alright Josh" Mr Andrew waved before closing the door.

Joshua drove another five minutes before he located Sindell's address.

" Someone loves her peace and quiet" he said scanning the neighborhood.

He got down from his car and walked towards her front door, he knocked but no answer came, he kept on knocking but still got no response. Just then Mr Jackson who was about to step out and walk his dog with his wife called out to him from across the street.

" Any problem officer?"

" Oh good, a caring neighbor" he murmured as he walked away from the front door and approached them.

" Good afternoon Mr..."

' Mr Tony Jackson, I'm miss Sindell's neighbor, and this is my wife" he said pulling his wife closer.

"I'm Sergeant Joshua, Good afternoon to you two" he replied smiling.

" Ohhh do u by chance know where Miss Sindell went and when she'll be back?" he asked

"Well we aren't really that close, but I saw her stepping out two hours ago"

" Okay thanks, I'll be back later then" he said and turned to leave when the man stopped him.

"Wait Officer, I heard what happened last night, the man found dead in the alley not far from here, was he robbed? he asked.

"Well we can't really say much right now, we can only ask residents to be safe for now as it is still under investigation sir, do have a nice day Mr Jackson" he said and turned walking to his car.

" So nosey" he muttered

"Honey why do you think the officer came to look for miss Riya? Mrs Jackson asked looking worried as they stared at the Cop's car till it was out of sight.

" I really don't know, you think she had something to do with what happened? he asked her

" I don't know, she doesn't seem like a troublesome type" she sighed.

They both turned and walked into their home.
