"So I'll start right from the very beginning, try to keep up" Elijah said looking serious all of a sudden.
" Okay" Riya said
He came closer to Riya and touched her hand, he then held Rick's hand too and they both fell unconscious.
"You'd understand more when you see it for yourselves" he muttered before closing his eyes.
Thousands of years ago, there was an Emperor named Ciaran, he was an Emperor who was popular amongst the people for his strength and ruthless judgments to offenders. Ciaran was the most powerful emperor that ever ruled Thebia at the time. But Ciaran had one weakness, and it was his Queen Cora, she was the most beautiful in all the empire and she was Ciaran's first love.
In this time, sorcery was eminent and the strongest mages and sorcerer were assigned to the emperor to coordinate the Empire affairs.
One day, Queen Cora fell sick and was dying, no sorcery could save her, the emperor travelled far and near to get potions from different strong mages but none could save the queen.
On a cold morning, the Queen passed away while Ciaran was still out on another journey to find aid. The news reached him and he turned back to the palace running.
When King Ciaran entered his wife's chamber and saw her laying down lifeless, he broke down in tears and regrets, he regretted not spending her last moments with her but instead was out searching for a cure. He wept bitterly and swore to cross the River of souls to bring her back no matter what.
Ciaran stepped out of his wife's chamber and summoned his most trusted mage Adonis.
" Adonis, would you do your king a favor?". Ciaran asked the mage in front of him.
"Anything my king asks". Adonis replied bowing slightly
" Adonis I want to cross the River of souls to meet my queen and bring back her soul"
" Does the king speak of dying?" Adonis questioned in shock.
"No Adonis, I called you out of hundreds of mages because I know your capabilities, I want to cross to the underworld and come back"
"Such magic is utterly dangerous and unpredictable my Lord" Adonis said
"That's why I trust you with it, I'm trusting you with my life Adonis, I hope you don't disappoint" Ciaran said half smiling.
"When does my Lord wish to take this journey?"
" Now Adonis, now" Ciaran said staring into space.
"To cheat death and to journey to the underworld and come back, we'll have to link the portal of life with that of the dead". Adonis said hesitantly.
" And to do that, we need a witch from the White Forest"
" Consider it done" Ciaran said.
The White Forest was a place where the strongest witches and their descendants lived. They could perform any spell you could think of as long as you could pay the price. Some people refer to them as Fallen Angels because of their powers and looks. They had silver hair from birth and silver eyes.
Meridith was a young witch who just came off age and ascended into the circle and was very popular around the white forest and outside the forest because of her power to access the land of the dead with just a song. It was said that she had the most beautiful voice in the land so much that even the gatekeepers of the underworld fell to their knees when they heard it.
After making findings on the white forest and their people, the king asked that Meridith be sent to him.
Meridith came to the palace and stood before the king.
"Greetings my Lord". she said bowing slightly
"Witch, I have a request for you"
"You want me to open the gates of the underworld for you" she said scrutinizing him
" You really are what they say you are witch, smart and powerful". the king said
" I can only escort a soul safely to the underworld and make sure they safely arrive, but I can't bring one back to the living"
" You had better find a way witch, your life depends on it" the king snarled.
" I would not be threatened by the king, I can't help you bring imbalance to the land of the living for a soul that is lost" she said

Immediately, a spell carved out on the floor shone and Meridith couldn't move or perform any spells.The Mage Adonis came forward with a knife and silver platter and sliced her palm while Meridith struggled to break free of the restraint spell Adonis put on her, she hadn't put on a protective charm because she never thought the king would have funny ideas.
" If the witch cannot grant the wish of the king, then her blood would serve as key". Adonis said while mixing her blood with some portions. He then uttered a spell and the ground shook and started to open up, the whole Palace shook from the impact. Black smoke starting coming out of the cracks on the ground.
Adonis then uttered another spell and the king was immediately surrounded by some of the smoke before he fell unconscious, lightening roared outside as the land of the dead was merging portals with the land of the living, People ran around scared that doomsday had finally come. Demons from the underworld slipped into the world and started to attack people, they fed on their souls, mages started to create protective circles to protect the people that could escape quickly from the demons, it was an horrible sight outside the palace.
Meanwhile, inside the palace, the king was still unconscious and on his way to the land of the dead while Adonis was still muttering spells Meridith was alarmed and finally used all her strength and broke the spell keeping her restrained, she then went straight for Adonis but she wasn't fast enough as Adonis spelled a knife and threw it at her, the knife stabbed right into her chest and she fell to her knees clutching her chest with tears pooling her eyes, she then uttered a final spell, a mark on her head shone then she fell and died.
Adonis screamed in anger after realizing what she had done, Meridith had sealed the spell and that prevented the king from returning from the underworld. He ran to her body and checked but realized she was dead, he screamed and cursed in more anger and went to the king still laying there lifeless.
Adonis swore to bring his king and friend back no matter what.
Rick and Elijah opened their eyes to find Riya crying.
" Riri, what's wrong?" Rick asked worried
" She's Meridith, Riya reincarnated as Meridith so she felt Meridith's pain in her last moments mentally". Elijah explained looking amused.
Rick looked at Riya and then Elijah in shock.
"So who do you work for?" Riya asked him in scrutiny.
" Nephele, Meridith's father" he replied half smiling.
"He's the prince of Tartarus"
