50 Fifty

Vincent was sat calmly on his recliner, wearing his reading glasses. He was dressed in a grey, fitted turtleneck and black dress pants, his hair neatly pulled back into a manbun with one long strand falling across the side of his head. I had to take a moment to catch my breath, not just from my literal race against time earlier but also because I had to admire just how delicious he looked. He unceremoniously glanced at his Rolex wristwatch, barely sparing me a glance.

"You're late."

"I know. I'm so sorry. S-Something came up. I got here as soon as I could."

He looked at me over the rim of his glasses for a long moment before breaking out into a chuckle. "For a second there, I thought you changed your mind."

"What? No. Never. I just got... Held up a little. I wouldn't flake on you."

"Well, I had to cancel our dinner reservation because we didn't make it in time. What do we do now?"

I chewed on the inside of my cheek, feeling guilty.

"Let me take care of that."
