Chapter 2: Another Life

Things are not always as they seem. People live double lives, a face that is a false wall to true motives. In our case, the robber portrayed in this "first chapter", was actually a father with a young son by the name of Marin. What happens next is the return of his father to their apartment.

"Papa, are you okay?"

The father sat up straight and rigid.

"Marin, I'm fine."

He stood up and walked over to the couch, his old bones creaking along with the wooden floor in a rhythm noise. He gently grabbed the remote from Marin, and turned on channel 46. It was always the same, bland, news. Someone over here committed a scandal. A rebellion. A declaration of war. All Marin's Father wanted was a sense of peace in this world, not the suffrage of people just to make a headline. Marin sat down next to his father on the couch, awakening his father from his thoughts.

"Did you have to do that?", Marin states, eyeing the brown bag slumped on the floor like a lifeless body. Both Father and son knew it was necessary to pay the rent.

But still his father stated in a quiet voice, "We must find a way to get by- a way to pay the rent."

Marin sighs, and says: "Can we play the harmonicas, papa?"

"Of course," Marin's father answers with a smile.

Marin leaps up from the worn leather sofa, and bounds over to the stocked cardboard boxes in the corner of the room. He snatched the old vintage harmonicas, from a time when his father was a kid like him. Marin's father mutes the T.V as Marin plops back onto the couch. They play together, a sad haunting melody of their past, and future to come.
