A way back

[* is to symbolise words that Dan cannot understand, it does not mean censorship, there is no censorship here]

It had been a couple of hours since Dan had woken up in the malnourished body of a boy of about 10 years old. During those hours a lot had happened and now it was almost midnight, they had already gone to bed and were supposed to be sleeping... but it was simply impossible.

"Ughh... **** bitch" moaned the man as the crash of flesh echoed through the room. "Move those hips more!"

The woman moaned too but softer, almost imperceptible of the men's constant, aggressive thrusts. But no matter how soft the woman's moans were, Dan simply couldn't help but hear them... after all, they were all sleeping in the same room.

'Ugh! Damn it!' Dan mentally groaned, trying to cover his ears with his hands. But it was simply impossible not to hear the various sounds produced by the sexual act that was taking place just a few feet away from him.

With his eyes completely focused on the stone wall in front of him, he tried to ignore what was going on behind him. With nothing else to do, Dan tried to figure out what he had seen earlier.

'That screen... What was it?'

Trying fervently to remember everything he had seen after opening the book, something suddenly glowed in front of his eyes. Even though the room was completely dark, Dan was completely able to read what had appeared before him.

'What's all this...' Dan reread what was on the screen in front of him several times. 'Some kind of systems like in those novels that... Andrew used to read?'

Dan was never interested in all the novels Andrew read, but from constantly hearing about it, he could more or less understand it.

Dan reached out his hand towards the screen and tried to touch the [Rewards] section which was honestly the most eye-catching thing. Suddenly, the screen changed completely, and other new options appeared in front of him.

[Rewards]

[Universal Question] [3/3]

[Welcome Skill]

Dan swallowed as he looked at the rewards he could choose from. He had yet to understand what exactly those skills were, of which he already possessed one, [Human language Valer], but he focused on the other reward.

'Universal Question...' If what the name said meant what he thought it meant, then he could ask anything he wished... but he only had three chances.

With his hand shaking, Dan pressed the [Universal Question] option and a new window appeared in front of him.

[Universal Question] [3/3]

[Any question you ask will be answered]

As soon as he read the description the system prompted him with, various questions began to swirl in his mind. Being able to ask anything in the world was simply amazing, but Dan didn't need to know the secrets of the world, he wanted something much more basic.

'How do I get back?'

Dan didn't have to think about it, what he wanted most in the world was to get back to where he belonged... and somehow kill Alpharos.

For a few seconds everything was silent. No other window appeared in the system.

'Can't you answer it... or maybe I have to say it out loud?' Dan listened to his surroundings and sighed. '...Let's hope not'

A moment later, a new window appeared in front of him. Without further delay, Dan gulped and read it earnestly.

[Find the five divine codices, then your way back will be revealed]

'Codex?' Dan frowned slightly trying to remember where he had read something similar, then finally remembered the black book that had been responsible for giving him the system.

'So there are four more? ...Wait, don't answer this question!' Dan shouted at the system in case it took his question as one of the two remaining questions.

He looked back at the system nervously and finally sighed when he saw that there were still two questions left. Dan closed his eyes and took a calming breath.

'Then there is a way back...'

A glimmer of hope had suddenly appeared in his path. He didn't know how he would find the others four ones, but if it was his way back to see his family and to be able to eat a simple meat pie, then he would do anything to make it happen.

Suddenly a groan louder than the previous ones brought him out of his concentration, causing him to growl quietly in annoyance. Ignoring the annoying sounds again, Dan went back to looking at the system.

'Let's see... what else can you show me?'

Dan reviewed the information on the system and sighed.

'...Atlas' Dan looked down at his skinny hands with some remorse.

He had taken the body of a child. He had no idea how or why, but he felt he had stolen something that didn't belong to him... even if he hadn't meant to. Dan closed his hand and clenched his fist.

'I'll put your body to good use'

Putting that aside, Dan looked at the statistics next to and under his name.

'According to this I'm too weak... no wonder'

Atlas' body was in such a bad state that Dan was sure his bones could break just by lifting something heavy. Before searching for the other codices, he had to improve his physique.

Dan tried to listen to his surroundings and realized that they were already finished. It would be very difficult for him to increase his physique living in a place like that... so first he would have to flee the place.

'It's a pretty complete system... though there are some things I can't see' Dan looked at his level. 'Level 1... How can I even level up?'

For another couple of hours, Dan continued to fully explore the system he had been given. He may have been completely weak and lost in an unfamiliar place for now, but he had a great support that he would be forced to use to get out of this situation.

As the first rays of sunlight began to enter through the window, Dan closed the window of the system and closed his eyes to sleep, but not before glancing at Atlas' parents who were still asleep.

The father was stretched out occupying most of the bed while the mother had a grim expression, as if she was having a horrible nightmare.
