Yesterday at school, we were just having a normal class. But suddenly there's an explosion going on. And the students start to panic. But in the past, the teachers taught us that if there's danger, evacuate in the court. So many were going there. But because of the 2nd and 3rd years classrooms were at the top floors, so we were bound to use the stairs to go down. And there's where I fell.

But it's not an accident, but rather it's intentional.

Someone pushed me from behind. I didn't see who it was. But I suspect it was the bullies. But I don't have particular evidence, so I didn't tell the teachers. After that, they brought me to the clinic and treated by Dr. Fenner. But because of lack of equipment, they called the ambulance instead.

"James."

"Oh, yes grandma?"

"Are you alright? Is it painful?"

To be honest, It's still hurting a little.

As grandma said that, someone entered the room.

"How's your foot?"

"You should go home now." I recommend it to her.

"The doctor said maybe next week."

Some days passed. Evelyn kept her promise to visit me. Every time she came, she brought some books to read. So the days do not become boring. It was peaceful until something happened.

{FIFTH DAY AT THE HOSPITAL}

It's afternoon. I'm reading a book while waiting for grandma.

"Why's grandma taking so long? She said she will bring some food."

Grandma returned home. She said she will cook for my lunch. But it's already been 3 hours since she left. While I'm waiting, a nurse enters my room.

"Mr. Agnew!" she said.

She's sweating as if she ran to get here.

"I-its… y-your grandma. She got hit by a truck!"

"Where's grandma's at?!"

"Here at the emergency room."

I hurried to leave my room.

I ignored the nurse and went ahead to the emergency room. Even It's hard to walk, I still go. But when I reached there,

It was too late, grandma's already dead. I fell to my knees and started crying. My sound echoes through the corridor as I cry.

They said she went to the grocery before she got hit by a truck. She was holding the ingredients that were supposed to be my lunch.

It's been 2 weeks since I got discharged from the hospital. After that, I didn't return to school. I spend my weeks grieving at home. I still can't believe the fact of grandma's death, and I'm all alone.

"What now?" I said it with a low tone of voice.

To be honest, I don't know how I am supposed to live by myself. I'm already lucky enough that I don't have a problem with my expenses by using grandma's savings, but what if I already spend it all? What now? And I still have school.

"Even if grandma's dead, she's still taking care of me."

Tomorrow, I will return to school. The teacher only gave me 2 weeks of leave.

I sighed. "I still don't want to go."

But I don't have a choice.

I'm already at school in the shoe locker. While changing my shoes, someone calls me.

"Oh, James. How are you?" Dr. Fenner asked me.

"I'm fine, doc." I answered it with a low tone.

"James, I'll go ahead first." Evelyn said to me and walked away.

Dr. Fenner was looking at Evelyn as she walked away, then he looked at me back.

"Don't force yourself, ok? He said that while putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Thanks for the concern, doc. I should be going now."

"Wait, I should say something to you. It's in regard to Ms. Cain."

"What about her, doc?"

"You should be careful around her."

"W-what do you mean by that?"

"She changed a lot. I can't comprehend her reason."

"Isn't just normal to change."

"No. I feel like something's wrong. So I advise you to avoid her for now." he walks away after saying that.

I didn't understand what Dr. Fenner said and continued to walk to our classroom.

{BREAK TIME}

I ignore Dr. Fenner's advice and invites Evelyn in during break time.

"Evelyn, let's eat together. It has been a while so…"

"Sure."

"Then let's go."

"Wait, you should go ahead first. There's still something I have to do."

After I buy bread at the canteen, then go to our spot. I came across Rex.

"Hey, you!" He walked close to me and put his arm around my shoulder. "You know what I want, right?" then said that to me.

I have no choice but to give my leftover money. I'm already lucky that he's not robbing my food too.

Rex Bowden. He's one of the bullies who bullied me. To be fact, he is the leader.

"Oh, Rex. What are you doing?"

Rex removed his arm to my shoulder and went to his dad. "Oh, Dad. I'm just comforting him because his grandma died."

This asshole is really using my grandma as an excuse. It makes me angry. But I can't report Rex. Well that's because.

"Oh, you're Mr. James Agnew, right?" He came close to me then put his hand on my shoulder. "I really feel sorry about what happened to your grandma. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, Mr. Principal. Thanks for your concern."

Rex's father was the principal of this school.

"I see-i see. What a tough man you are. Anyway, Rex, I have something to talk to you about. First we should go to my office." Then they left afterwards.

I continued on my way to the spot where Evelyn and I were supposed to eat. When I reached there, Evelyn was already there eating.

"Why are you late?" she asked.

"Sorry, something happened."

And I start eating as well.

{FEW MINUTES PASSED}

We returned to our classroom after the break time was over. When we've arrived.

"Ok, you guys are already complete. Now start searching." the teacher said.

Huh? What's going on? The teacher searched everyone's bags. While I'm in a state of confusion, it's my bag's turn.

"Here it is!" the teacher said. "Why is it in your bag, Mr Agnew? Why did you steal your classmate's allowance?"

"Huh?"

My classmates were staring at me as if I did something wrong. But in truth, I don't even have a clue what's going on.

The teacher sighed. "Because of your grandma's death, I will not put you in detention, and you should apologize to your classmate."

"I-i-i'm s-sorry."

"Now that this situation has been solved, it's time to start class."
