CHAPTER XI

Vince finishes showering on the small hospital bathroom, sighing happily at the feeling of being clean. His mom just left, after he insisted she could go home. It’s not like he’s going anywhere.

He does feel lonely. He can’t help it.

But it’s a feeling he’ll have to learn how to get used to.

Just because his fate is bound to a hospital bed, it doesn’t mean his mother’s should too.

He puts on the clothes he picked from the bag his mother brought in, comfortable and warm, with a scarf to go with it.

He sits down on the bed, starting to think about how to spend the rest of his day.

Is Jack really coming to keep him company? He hopes he comes. He misses him, somehow.

He’s probably just lonely.

He shakes his head, thinking about lying down to take a nap, but his phone rings.

It’s Jack calling.

“Hey Vin! I’m on my way already. How are you?” The boy asks from the other end.
