58 Quantum

Kamlyn successfully made her way out in less than the fifteen minutes required time. She came out seeing the car already Infront of the mansion and he— Ethan was leaning right on it with his hands folded and his expression unreadable— as always.

Kamlyn stood for a while as if she was held back by something. He hadn't noticed her presence. Looking at him from a small distance felt so refreshing to the eyes. The small movements he made didn't escape her. She silently watched him as he kept looking at the gold wrist watch he had on his wrist.

Ethan suddenly turned to the direction she was standing. Making her bring her head down with haste. Thumping sounds escaped her chest, she couldn't control the way her heart sped up the moment he turned to her.

"Got your tablet with you?" His voice broke her off her stupor.

She bobbed her head frantically.

Without even a 'Let's go.', He opened the door of the car and got in. When he started the ignition and pressed the horn panel, that was when she knew she was supposed to follow suit.

From the way she sat, even a two year old could tell she wasn't comfortable. But upon remembering what happened the last time she was with Ethan in his office and what he said, She tried hard enough to make it look like she wasn't trying to pull up a Façade in pretending to be alright around him.

Already she was tensed and he didn't want to make her feel weary the more. "Put on your seat belt." He told her instead doing it for her. And she securely put it on making sure it was done in a right way to avoid any more of....

Without giving her even a fleet of a glance while she fiddled with the seat belt, he picked up his pace and drove out of the residence.

Doing nothing important but just staring at every building in sight. Her eyes were literally glued to window on her side. The drive to the hospital was long one and oh gods she couldn't wait for it to end.

Ethan on the other hand wasn't making it any better for her. Atleast if it happened to be Axel, he would have tried saying something to keep her company or some sort but Ethan! No! Even the thought of him raising up some kind of conversation sounded weird to her ears.

She started to imagine it actually. A smile bursted out of her lips that she was trying hard to control and she didn't realize a certain driver was paying attention to her.

It was indeed funny for her because God! a whole Ethan Lu! Starting up a conversation? Nah! She will rather believe that dogs can fly than believe that. Her thoughts sent tingles to her heart which made her smile broaden.

"Did you sleep well?" Ethan voice rolled out making her choke on her smile. Series of coughs left her mouth as she patted her chest to calm it down. Just when....when she was talking otherwise.

She nodded affirmatively.

"Thanks for the drugs last night."

Another shock registered. Is this really him? I mean for the little time she knew him, she never thought of him being one to show gratitude openly. She just stared dumbly at him trying to figure out what is happening suddenly. If it's her or him.

Ethan quietly waited for her response. Seconds now and she hadn't reacted like she usually does. He whipped his head towards her and unexpectedly caught her gazing right at him. Remembering that he was still on the steering he adverted his attention back to the road.

Kamlyn's daze broke the moment Ethan caught her eyes on him. She hurriedly tried to grab her tablet to give an appropriate reply. The minute she stretched forth her hand to reach for it, that was the same time Ethan wanted pulling the brake, their hands touched and it sent a shiver down her spine which she reacted physically to.

The quick tremble of her body made Ethan turned to look at her. "Are you okay?" He asked her with an undecipherable tinge in his voice.

Kamlyn slowly nodded in reply, darting her eyes around except from him, Which he obviously noticed.

They were already Infront of the hospital and when she noticed it, with an Abrupt move, she wanted going down the car but something unexpected happened. He grabbed her back, making her heart beat in quantum.
