5 Chapter 05

[Northern Section, Petelburg Woods.]

Silver entered the Petalburg Woods after a gruelling day of studying and physical exercises. Alongside him, Eevee, his starter, accompanied Silver into the forest. The moon, obscured by scattered clouds, cast feeble rays of light that trickled through the twisted branches above the Pokemon and trainer who were walking through the forest.

Now, Silver normally would never go out alone into the forest during such hours, but it was a risk that he deemed necessary since Eevee was close to evolution, and acceptable Eevee could easily battle the strongest pokemon in the region. One that needed to happen at night, so Silver planned on inducing the evolution a tiny bit earlier than naturally through the stress of battle.

He would stay closer to the mud path that connects Rustoboro City to Petalburg City so that he doesn't get any nasty surprises.

They walked for a hundred meters on the path known as Route 104 before they heard a rustling in the bushes and both Eevee and Silver tensed.

"Use Swift," Silver commanded Eevee, hoping to start a battle.

Eevee's silver fur stood on end even as small stars erupted from its mouth and hit the rustling grass and tore through it and hit whatever was hiding behind it.

There was a growl before a bipedal Pokémon with primarily reddish-brown fur and a muscular build came out of the grass snarling in anger, it took a look at Eevee and lunged towards the Pokemon.

"Evade backwards!" Silver said and Eevee jumped back avoiding the violently glowing swipe from the Vigoroth's claws.

"Swift and Evade!" Eevee followed the order of its trainer and moved away while hitting the pokemon with swift as the Vigoroth tried to hit Eevee.

It was around the third jump that the moonstone tied around Eevee's neck that Silver had bought for Eevee almost eight months ago started to give off a slight glow.

'A moonstone might not be responsible for the evolution but it will definitely be better symbolically speaking for the moonlight Pokemon to evolve at the night of a full moon beside a moonstone, symbolism did not mean much in my previous world but this world has Gods, Ghosts, Spirits and Psychics, it is better to have a suspension of belief than stubbornness that might get myself killed,' Silver smiled before shouting, "Eevee! Move in using Quick attack and use Bite!"

Eevee who had been peppering his enemy with swift until now abandoned the attack and rushed towards Vigoroth with a soft white glow covering his body.

Eevee jumped before reaching Vigoroth and bit down on its shoulder hard. Vigoroth howled and its claws immediately went to Eevee to pry him off, but before it could, Eevee twisted his neck and threw his body behind the Vigoroth's shoulder unlatched and used Swift on the back of its head.

The assault on its head finally knocked the Vigoroth out and Eevee, who had just defeated its opponent, glowed in the white light of evolution.

Once the light of evolution dimmed, an Umbreon with jet-black fur and glowing neon blue rings appeared in place of Eevee.

Umbreon turned towards Silver before letting out a soft cry of, "Breon!"

Silver chuckled before saying, "I am also happy you evolved, Umbreon. Look, I got you something as a gift as well."

Silver took off the harness and collar that were now very tight for Eevee before giving him a new collar made out of metal. He picked out the moonstone from his collar and fit it into its side.

As soon as the collar closed around Umbreon's neck with a click, Silver's watch buzzed indicating a notification.

He pressed a button and a projection displaying Umbreon lit up in the forest.

'Name- Umbreo(Male)

Ability- Adaptability>> Synchronize

Moves-Endure(Egg), Detect(Egg), Double-Kick, Quick Attack, Swift, Bite>> Crunch(New), Protect(TM), Dark Pulse(New), Moonlight(New), Guard Swap (New)'

"You learned new moves Umbreon?" Silver asked his starter, who replied to the inquiry with a nod.

Silver shook his head before saying, "I have to ask you Umbreon, it was something that has slipped my mind until now: Would you like a name?"

Umbreon looked at Silver before nodding slowly.

Silver nodded before saying, "How about Alioth? It seems cool and fits your new look."

Umbreon nodded eagerly as he said, "Breon! Um! Breon!"

Silver nodded happy that the name he had come up with was accepted as he looked at his watch before saying, "LANBOS register pokemon Umbreon's name as Alioth."

*DING*

The projection changed.

Name- Alioth

Species: Umbreo(Male)

Ability- Adaptability>> Synchronize

Moves-Endure(Egg), Detect(Egg), Double-Kick, Quick Attack, Swift, Bite>> Crunch(New), Protect(TM), Dark Pulse(New), Moonlight(New), Guard Swap (New)

'Oh, I love the Porygon species,' Silver couldn't help but awe at the capability of the Pokemon. It was far more advance than any other AI back on his previous world.

Silver shook his head, before taking out a simple potion from his pocket and spraying it on the Vigoroth's shoulder.

A standard alliance-distributed potion was the berry juice of the commonly grown Oran Berry which was known to heal small wounds and injuries.

The many differences between a standard potion and a berry were. The first being that the berry could only be eaten while the potion worked both through ingestion and application on the wounds themselves. The second being that the potion had preservatives added to it while also being vacuum sealed to make it longer lasting while berries went bad pretty fast in Hoenn's weather. The third is that the berry juice was very concentrated in a potion to increase the effects as much as possible.

'Trauma medicine and medicine in general even in this world is years ahead of Earth, whether it be physical or psychological.'- The shoulder that had been bleeding quite a bit until now is free of any scars after the healing due to the potion was proof of the statement.

Silver and Alioth left the forest to return to Rustboro City.

[A few days later.]

[Stone Family's Mansion, Northern Rustboro.]

Silver was dressed in a black formal suit with blue trimming matching Alioth who was standing beside him as they waited at the gates alongside some other guests like Roxanne, the City Mayor and department heads from Devon.

His family's security team was also there along with the Mansion's staff who were holding up a banner that read, 'Welcome Home, Regional Champion.'

A black car very reminiscent of a Limousine back from Earth was speeding towards the mansion being followed by two more black SUVs as they followed behind the car.

'I will never get used to the uncanny resemblance that things have despite following a totally different history.'

Silver face broke into a smile as the cars halted in front of the mansion's gate before Steven and his parents walked out of the Limousine.

Steven's blue hair which matched their mother's seemed to have grown long making Silver's brother look very handsome and graceful.

Steven grinned as he locked with Silver, who grinned back at his brother.

'Later,' Silver mouthed the words to his brother as he pointed towards the guests waiting for his brother. Steven's grin immediately became brittle before a more fake but graceful smile appeared on his face as he went to socialize with the others.

Silver greeted his parents before telling them that the staff prepared their room so that they could rest and waited some time before his brother finally came up to him and called him by his name.

"Steve, congratulations on the win. I was only able to see Bastiodon winning against Altaria live but I caught up on the repeat later on. Metagross really lived up to his title as a pseudo-legendary. By the way, can I see him?"

Steven smiled before he pressed a button on the black-coloured pokedex clipped to his belt and a blue jet of plasma erupted from one of the poke balls and the ace of Steven Stone, Metagross came out.

The pokemon's eyes glowed a steady blue showing the use of psychic energy and Silver heard the pokemon speak in his mind, 'Silver Stone, Kin to Subject Steven, the Hive greets you.'

Silver had met his brother's ace before so he returned, 'Hello Metagross, long time no see.'

'Indeed, it has been two years, four months, twelve days and three hours since the Hive has been in your presence, but by parsing through subject Steven's memories, and the Hive's memory, the Hive concludes that you were aware of the Hive's activity.'

'Have you been well?'

'The Hive's existence is safe and healthy. What of your health Silver Stone?'

'I have been healthy and safe.'

'Good. Talk to you later, Metagross.'

The blue glow disappeared, signaling an end to the conversation and Silver turned his attention back to his brother, who was looking at Alioth with a smile.

Alioth moved towards Steven, who extended out his hand and said, "Hello Umbreon, I am your trainer's elder brother, Steven."

Silver said, "His name is Alioth, Steve."

Steven nodded even as Alioth nuzzled his hand before Steven scratched the moonlight Pokemon's chin. They stood there in silence before Steven said, "You know, I missed two of your birthdays Silver, how about a present or two from your older brother?"
