My friend's odd idea...

It's the year 20XX and the top engineers of human civilization had finally completed the grandest achievement possible. The Nether Portal was built. We were never ready for what laid beyond that suspended, swirling pool of purple enigma. The new world of inferno and an onslaught of monsters were unstoppable. Giant skeletons of withered ash, living magma itself, and the colossus beasts like those of Lovecraft himself were what would bring humanity to its knees.
