Broken Doll (Love Makes The Difference)

[Being an orphan and working as a maid wasn't something one dreamt about. As if deprivation wasn't enough, Bismika had to suffer bullying at school. When a certain blue-eyed boy showed interest in her, she misunderstood him as her knight in shining armor. A little did she realize that, she was pulled toward a burning pyre.] .......... “I-I wanted to t-tell-“ I was cut short with a loud thud of the tray. “Here is your order, Sir,”- the waitress seductively placed the frappe. “Thanks,”- he gave an alluring smile. This was the first time I saw him smiling today. “Have you decided on the order yet, Ms. Indecisive?”- the waitress's boring tone rang through my ears. I was stunned at her rudeness. I looked at the pair of blue orbs sitting in front of me. He looked unbothered! The mistreatment of the waitress towards me was all normal to him! Well! A loser like me never deserved a charmer like him. It was time to burst my dream bubble. “I won't take anything,” somehow I managed to speak. “You can excuse yourself.” The waitress left not before giving me a disgusting look and another lustful glance toward him. I was done. “Sorry to waste your time. But, don't worry. I won't waste more. Thanks for coming,”- I didn't wait for his response. Leaving the café, I let my tears fall. He just used me for his pleasure! I felt broken. Suddenly 2 strong hands grabbed my arms and the next moment I was shoved to an empty alley. I stared at those ocean blue eyes, hard to read as always. “A simple 'sorry' isn't good enough for wasting my time. I deserve compensation.” And before I could respond, his lips were on mine and started devouring me like a beast.

Welcome to the University of Unseen Rivalries 2024

Synopsis: “Unseen Rivalries” In the hallowed halls of the University of Unseen Rivalries, where ancient oaks whispered secrets and glass buildings gleamed with ambition, Aeon Mercer embodied indifference. His days unfolded like faded parchment—half-hearted lectures, late-night pizza, and a perpetual lack of motivation. The world spun around him, yet he remained steadfastly unremarkable. NO THRILL NO MOTIVATION = NO AMBITITION = AEON But destiny intervened. The annual intercollegiate competition loomed—a battle of wits and physical prowess promising a scholarship that could lift Aeon from middle-class struggles. Recognition awaited, like a forgotten melody surfacing from his soul. Reluctantly, Aeon stepped onto the path of fate. The competitors spanned brilliance. Layla, the mysterious student, held rank one. Maya, a chess prodigy, was a close second. Alex, a manipulative villain, sought control, ranked 3rd. Amelia, the reigning track star, streaked across the sky at fourth place. And then there was Reo—the enigma ranked fifth, known as the university's strongest student. Professor Eleanor saw beyond Aeon’s disheveled appearance. She recognized hidden brilliance—the kind that danced in shadows. Eleanor challenged Aeon with intricate problems, and he surprised her each time, unraveling equations like forgotten constellations. The top-ranked students noticed Aeon. He jogged seemingly uninterested, yet effortlessly kept pace. Layla saw him as a rival. Alex's control backfired, and Maya searched for the mastermind. Amelia cornered him after a swim race, demanding, “Why do you hide?” Aeon shrugged. “Rank is just a number. I want to pass without exhausting myself.” Unsatisfied, Amelia challenged him to a rematched race. Aeon surged ahead, leaving her in his wake. Reo attacked, but Aeon blocked with eyes sharp as ice. Unbeknownst to him, a curious female observer watched from the shadows. As rivalry intensified, romance bloomed. Layla and Aeon clashed intellectually—a symphony of wit and adrenaline. Love intertwined with rivalry against late-night study sessions and stolen glances. Other female students noticed Aeon—the enigma who defied expectations. Jealousy simmered, alliances formed, and Aeon’s life took unexpected turns. In the final showdown, everyone in their perspective fields faced Aeon. Their competition transcended mere contest—it was a collision of wills. And so, Aeon Mercer—the once-lazy university student—overwhelmed everyone with his skills and as a mysterious mastermind. His true rank emerged: Number ONE. He crushed strong opponents, leaving no doubt about his abilities. Love, rivalry, revenge, and unexpected twists defined his journey—a tale of ambition and hidden potential. Welcome to the University of Unseen Rivalries.

A Virtual Invasion

An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of? The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak. So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

Same New World: Homecoming

A misunderstanding between his childhood friend and crush Danielle led to Cooper walking away from Texas three years ago. Now he's back and trying to get over the past. But it's not easy when the past lives next door; smiling at him with warm green eyes and light brown hair. Meanwhile there is another world on a collision course with his. It threatens to pull him away from everything, and everyone, he loves. He wanted a new normal, and he's getting it. ---------------------------------------------- Author's note: This story is one I've been working on for years. It never felt right to me until I got injured and was bedridden for a fair bit of time. After binging on k-dramas and anime I realized I was trying to shove a square peg through a round hole. I was trying to write a straight up urban fantasy story when what I needed was a romance that gets interrupted by an urban fantasy story. I'm a fan of the Isekai premise but I think the stories coming out nowadays are stale and and just cut and paste OP wish fulfillment. I wanted to do one that did something fresh with the premise. I've self-published on Amazon but it's hard to sell books without having fans. So I'm hoping to find readers by making the book available. WARNING: This story is intended for a mature audience. While a majority of it is about romance/drama/fluffy childhood friend tomboy flirting the story also features horror elements. There are depictions of graphic violence/attempted rape/gore. As well as characters using derogatory language involving sexual preference.
