Chapter 15 – Intruder

"Your kindness in preparing all this for us, Aglaya, thank you very much," Aglaya said after finishing arranging all the items in their proper places on the table.

"Hi, Arkex Abigail, nashi eoiqo fhu elos qoeu sniop oeus qlio," Aglaya replied, lowering her head slightly.

"Alright... Girls, now that everything is ready, shall we have lunch?" At this point, she's already sitting in a chair at one end of the table.

"Everything's ready... Girls, take your seats. We should relax a bit and let Apollo rest. I'm planning to spend the rest of the day in the village, and I want all of us to have a lot of fun today."

As soon as she finished speaking, they all began to take their respective seats. Mom sat at the other end of the table with me on her lap, Mahara and Aglaya sat to the right and left of the table respectively, close to mom.

Libertas sat next to Mahara, near Abigail, leaving a space at the table, but fortunately, everyone was very comfortable and well served.

I couldn't help but notice that the table was the perfect size to accommodate everyone, not just a small table with 4 seats. Was it intentional, and did Aglaya know that it wouldn't just be us, or does Aglaya usually make arrangements with some contingencies in mind?

I have no idea, but Aglaya seems like someone who takes her job seriously; she must have prepared for some contingencies on this outing.

There's also the option that Aglaya didn't foresee anything, and all these arrangements she took out of that basket were the standard arrangement.

Although I'm curious about this question, something even stranger caught my attention. The air that was blowing gently stopped. A few seconds ago, it was windy, now it's not, just like that. Something must have happened...

"I've put up a barrier of sound and visual isolation, so no one can hear or see us here. Mahara, Aglaya, I hope you can relax, but you don't need to take off your masks if you don't want to."

I think this is my answer. Abigail did magic again, she seems to enjoy showing off. Abigail said she put up a barrier, but I don't see anything around us. I can feel that the air has become stagnant, but nothing else. Can this be used to put out a fire?

Now I'm curious to know the extent of the applications of magic in this world. Are they just tricks, or is magic deeply embedded in people's lives?

"Alright, girls, help yourselves; it's not every day we have the opportunity to have such a pleasant gathering, especially after someone decided to isolate themselves in their house for a whole 3 years..." Abigail, despite making a sarcastic comment, had a beautiful smile on her face as she spoke.

However, this subject is mentioned with a touch of regret and sadness. Mom isolated herself in her palace, but this doesn't seem to be something normal.

So, something must have happened to her for her to make that decision. Abigail doesn't seem to have thought it was a good idea, but she also doesn't seem to have made efforts to prevent it. This is confusing...

"..." Mom, unlike Abigail, was a little uncomfortable with the comment. But she seems more embarrassed than bothered.

I have no idea what Libertas said... But one thing I'm sure of, she was reprimanding Abigail because of the comment. It's as if she knew Abigail didn't want to be rude.

Why do I know this? Just by the way Libertas looked at Abigail and the expression of regret and discomfort that Abigail was showing.

Abigail wasn't at all comfortable being reprimanded, but she didn't seem to disagree with what Libertas said. Which tells me that this topic is another very delicate matter...

"Libertas, I appreciate your concern for my situation, and thank you for defending me. But I can't dodge the blame that falls on me; it was my whim that led me to choose isolation."

Before Libertas could finish reprimanding Abigail, Mom interrupted the sermon. But her voice was low. After a few words, she took a deep breath and continued speaking with a more confident tone:

"It was a foolish decision that solved nothing, only made the situation worse. Because of my emotional instability, I decided to distance myself from the world and, consequently, from those who could help me. I was naive and stupid..."

What happened to Mom to choose isolation in the palace? She doesn't seem like a woman with low self-esteem, and she's rich, beautiful like a goddess, powerful, intelligent, educated...

For God's sake, what happened to make her emotionally unstable?

"But fortunately, now everything will go back to normal. No, everything will be even better than before." Mom continued to speak and gave me a warm hug while smiling.

"What great news, dear. Too bad I bring bad news."

A sweet, soft, and melodic female voice suddenly came and left each of us terrified.

Okay... I hate to say that it scared me the most. My consolation is that not only I was scared, some more than others, of course, but everyone was frozen in fear.

I even think I would have peed if I hadn't been so stiff from the scare.

I understand that such a beautiful voice shouldn't cause this kind of reaction in anyone.

But what kind of being can appear out of nowhere? Damn it, Mom and Abigail are dragons. What kind of being can approach 2 dragons without even being noticed?

Moreover, the voice came with a supernatural cold. My spine froze instantly, and my whole body shivered. Out of nowhere, the temperature started to drop just because this being appeared...

"tisk tisk, it seems that despite calling yourselves Dragon Ladies, both of you still have a long way to go."

The voice continued to lower the temperature of the place; Abigail's barrier is still up, so the cold seems to be accumulating even more.

"Shame, what would Gao hou think if she saw two of her best pupils frozen just because of a bit of Aura pressure? I don't think she would like it... Hahahaha."

The being who was speaking, who had not yet revealed herself, began to reveal herself while talking. She emerged after some kind of camouflage in the air was dispersed.

From the voice, it was clear that it was a woman. She was positioned a few steps behind Abigail, looking at us with a playful look and smile. It seems she was enjoying seeing all of us frozen.

I forced myself a bit to look directly at her and see her appearance. Fortunately, from my position, it was easier to observe the woman.

She is tan with almost beige curly blond hair, styled in a rounded shape with medium volume. It gives her an elegant and charismatic style, perfect to match her long face.

The hair highlights her expressions, making her emotions very evident. Light brown eyes, large and well-refined, without needing makeup to be beautiful.

Thin nose and thick lips. Apparently, she likes more comfortable clothes because, unlike everyone else, she is dressed in jeans, a tight black blouse, and a jacket.

I won't even say she's beautiful... Apparently, everyone in this place is... Disregarding that, this is what I call equality.

"Alright, I think I've had enough fun. Gao huo would give me a beating if I intimidated her darlings too much."

As soon as she said that, the cold and tension in the environment disappeared instantly, as if it had never existed.

Mom and Abigail, who were rigid and with an alarmed expression before, suddenly relaxed and began to breathe heavily while still trying to pay attention to the woman.

Aglaya, Mahara, and Libertas didn't seem as composed; perhaps because of the difference in strength, as soon as the woman released the pressure, they almost instantly fainted.

They ended up hitting their heads on the table and broke the plates that were on the table. But I couldn't see any blood dripping, fortunately.

I must thank that we hadn't started serving yet, so the plates were still clean. It would be much more humiliating for them if they woke up with their faces smeared with food...

"...Why are you here?" While still trying to catch your breath, Mom questioned the woman. They seem to know each other, but it doesn't seem like they're exactly friends.

"Hahaha, don't need to be tense, girls. I just came here to deliver a message from Counselor Alexandra." Still with a playful expression, the woman replied.

"So do that and get out of here. You're not welcome in my territory." Mom raised her voice and continued to antagonize the woman...
