Scene Two! The Bridge

Jericho's POV

SEPTEMBER 8

"I'm leaving baseball"

I said quickly to my teammate Lola Garza. Lola's expression changed to surprised as she registered what I had said. I bit my lip in anticipation, she was one of my favorite teammates, and although she'll think my reasoning is stupid or foolish I think its a perfect plan.

"Why would you ever do that?!" She asked. She wasn't wrong I love baseball but I want to get closer to Amelia and the way to do that is drama club! It's been nearly a week since seeing her and I crave to see her more. Even if it doesn't work I get to build things and still see a beautiful girl every day and there's always next season... I shrugged

"My grades have been slipping I gotta stay on top of that. My parents would tear me apart." Excuse. Lola looked like she was thinking about it. She knew I was serious about my sport but that I was even more serious about school. Unfortunately, she knows I'm a huge woman lover and I'd do anything to peruse love because I'm a hopeless romantic that way. She squinted her eyes at me.

"You're glowing." She said those two words confused the hell out of me.

"What has the hell is that suppose to mean?!" I whispered quietly because we were in class. Thankfully we got seats in the back that allowed us to talk more freely, and our professor was grilling a student for trying to search up his answers for his test. She shook her head

"You met a girl didn't you?" My. Jaw. Dropped. "You're so predictable, Jericho. You're a romantic who's dreaming of the perfect story." She said seeing so clearly past my lies

" I-I have no idea what you're saying, and-and! You're crazy!" I responded. I think I handled that pretty well...

"Shut the hell up you're leaving baseball for a girl?" I pouted and shrugged

"She's French Lola. And she's GORGEOUS." She shook her head I could physically feel her disappointment although it looked like there was a smirk planted on her face.

"You're so Goddamn hopeless Jer," she said smiling but still shaking her head. She placed a hand on my shoulder. "She must be some girl if you're quitting your sport to spend more time with her." I nodded and put my head in my hands.

"Is it stupid? Am I going too far?" I asked scribbling on my paper little lines that became a girl stick figure. She shook her head.

"Girl of course it's stupid. " I groaned and not so gently placed my head on the desk. "But it's a chance and an opportunity that you're not missing out on and I admire that about you. You're not going too far but just remember to respect her boundaries. Don't go rushing in and overthinking things that weren't meant to be thought about." Her words of wisdom echoed in my head. She's right.

"Plus I'll still get to see you since we're housemates anyways." She said patting my back. She's one of the two roommates along with Kyong that live with me. We're pretty close and we do run a tight ship. I agreed

"You're right Lola. completely" she laughed

"When have I ever not been right Idiota? Also, you're still gonna work out with me because I can't lose my workout buddy" she said. I laughed and shook my head

"Of course!" I said looking at her. She was always a great friend. Although I haven't known her as long as Kyong-tae we met during a summer greeting program freshmen year, and it's been almost a year and a half since Kyong-tae and I have been friends with her.

After that conversation with Lola, I felt pretty pumped as if I could do anything! It was my lunch break and although I normally eat with Kyong-tae or Lola, Kyong-tae has to study for her English class and Lola went with her friends to a Waffle House and I wasn't craving waffles so I passed. Instead, I'm heading to a nice little pasta place, not that far off-campus. They have my favorite pasta dish: Lasagna. I decided to take a short cut crossing through the park. There was a bridge that connected the two ends of the lake and park that made it faster and easier to get to my destination. As I made my way to the bridge I spotted a familiar figure standing at the edge facing the grand lake. Amelia. Immediately I cursed under my breath because I look terrible and definitely not very sexy looking. I could go around but that would take longer and IM HUNGRYYY AHHHHHHHHHH as I mentally freaked out as I stubbornly approached the bridge Any second now and she'll notice me and I'll be completely humiliated. She turned my way and all air was knocked out of me and time stopped. The orange and yellow leaves on the trees and floor causes her bright icy blue eyes to pop out, even more, her mostly black outfit complemented the dying colors of autumn and made her stand out like a bright angel in a dark room, her hair half tied up like the first time I saw her. It's been over a week since seeing her and Damn she is a refreshing sight. Her features brightened and she smiled. I nearly had a heart attack

"Hey. Jericho right? It's Amelia." She waved. I smiled like a complete goofball and waved back as I approached her. I felt like I had done nothing to deserve being in front of such a Goddess

"Hey, Amelia it's been a while!" I said smiling. When I stopped at her side she turned to look at the scenery. I joined her glaze over the beautiful looking water and the colors of the trees.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" I looked at her nodding.

"Yeah, it really is," I said blushing turning back to see the leaves and beautiful water.

"isn't it funny?" she started still not breaking her gaze on the leaves "that something dying could be so amazingly beautiful?" she finished. my brows scrunched, That's a pretty interesting matter of viewing things.

"Yeah, it is kinda funny, how we take beauty out of the simplest things like a change in color." I agreed

"Autumn has always been my favorite season, although people don't seem to like it," she said lost in a sea of warm colors with a slight smile, and a million emotions crossed over me. she's beautiful. then suddenly she snaps out of her trance and turns to me

"So what have you been up to?" she asked. Her blue eyes awaited my response and I swear I could see a hint of amusement.

"Lunch Break. I'm heading to a pasta restaurant" I responded and her calm position straightens.

"Don't let me keep you. You look hungry enough" she said with a small smile and at that moment I took a risk.

"I know we haven't known each other very well but would you care to come along? It's very good." I asked holding my breath. Her small smile slipped and she looked at me questionable with maybe a sense of suspicion? "my treat of course." I added. With that, her questionable look vanished and quickly a smile replaced it.

"It would be a delight to join you," she looked at her REALLY nice watch and looked up and frowned "Unfortunately my lunch break is ending; so I'll have to deny your kind offer, but maybe another time we'll have lunch together?" She said. I took a breath and nodded. time is my pure enemy

"Definitely! Good luck with your classes!" I responded she smiled

"See you around, Jericho," she said smiling and turning back to head to campus. I gasped for air that was the single most difficult thing I've ever had to do

"This woman is messing with my brain" I mumbled while continuing my walk towards the restaurant with only one thing on my mind,

A blue-eyed girl.
