The Earthbound Realm

It is funny how sometimes we arrive at a destination, from base camp to a high seated lookout point, and wish for the entire universe that we were back at the beginning. We travel through corridors, metal staircases, brown stained carpets and fireproofed doors in search of that which is greater for ourselves and those we love. Josh got his first full time job aged 23 with a company that designed houses, roads and roads that led back to the houses.

By this time Josh had his own place. It was a detached Victorian two bedroom house, with a grand hallway, staircase and piano in the front room. The place was decorated with artwork that he had produced over the years, as well as varnished oak window sills and patterned carpets of green and brown. On an almost weekly basis, Josh would invite his family and friends around for rustic food, before they all headed out to the pub in the evening. He was in love with Josephine, who he met at school. However, his job was proving to be quite demanding, particularly towards the end of his time there.

A tall, handsome, diamond-blue eyed gentleman with a sharp and black suit cut perfectly walks through the glass door, into a room with about 30 people. The room was dusty, dark and noisy on the top floor of a strikingly dark red commercial block. The doors he went through were heavy, and he always felt self conscious in a room full of people that seemed very much engaged with their particular niche. From his time working for the company, he can now see that it is not what we personally gain from our life situations and experiences that matters. It is why we are put in those situations, for the sake of those around us, and it doesn't matter how much this impacts on our own personal lives.

Josh's colleague was Freddy Joyman. He was a well spoken middle aged man with maroon rimmed glasses and he once said to him:

'You have to work out exactly what you want to achieve, in order to then know how you are going to achieve it.'

Josh does not know how much work was required, for the job which he had studied very hard for and he was extremely grateful to have. On reflection he can now see that a transformation was required for a medium sized population and many people who were reliant on his input at the time this story refers to. Somehow, and from somewhere that sat between him and the padded swivel chair, by staring at the monitor in front of him, Josh managed to change something in the hearts of those around him, as well as in the workplace where he was. He had to regularly get away from the office, to inspect the houses and roads themselves via a network of walkways.

The office was a medium rise tower block, clad by glass and rusty red brick in a green suburban area of Maybury which had a large car park surrounding. Josh enjoyed the job because it involved much outdoor work, as well as analytical work in the office following the transcription of written notes taken.

It takes a lot of courage and perseverance to stand up in the middle of a hectic situation, where it seems like you're the one that people are turning to with various issues related to the overall service. However, even through the dark and gloomy alleyway footpaths that led back to the upper floor of an imposing but modern unit, the daylight shone in from both sides and if you looked out of the windows, you could see the rustling trees and the flow of the change in season. After one year of doing the job, Josh and his friends went on the holiday of a lifetime.

The original group of friends, namely Josh, Jacob, Josephine, George, Sara and Ralph, decided to go on a long vacation one cold December. This involved walking through the countryside in a far away setting with abundant mountains, valleys and rocky crystal lakes.

Sometimes they would stay in warmly decorated log cabins, with open log fires. If you looked from the outside of this particular cabin, through the large leaded single glazed window from the side of a vast open lake surrounded by sharp, purple mountain sides, you could see Josh and Josephine playing board games and enjoying drinks together.

'Who are you?' Josephine asked Josh, 'I think you're the bravest person that I know'.

Josh replied, smiling, 'Someone that wants to know love in its beautiful fullness, and I can see that in Josephine James'.

Having completed their walking holiday, the 6 of them explored a large ancient city with large, grand, majestic structures and haunting monuments throughout. The food was incredible, and Josh did not want to return to his ordinary day job having been away for a two week period that seemed timeless to him. Josh and Josephine were holding hands and sitting together almost everywhere they went in the beautifully decorated setting.

The 6 of them returned from their holiday, and back to their day jobs. However, Josh and Josephine were now much closer and started seeing each other much more regularly. Josh's first full time job was a total triumph, and the work carried out by him, and through the teams he engaged with, had success that will last. By the end of his 5 years there, Josh was ready to change course. He had an exhausted mind, troubled heart and tears were falling from his eyes that he slowly padded with his forefinger. So the story continues.
