6 CHAPTER 6

Diamond didn't take her car back to her neighborhood. It was simply too scary for her to do such a thing and she didn't want to see her baby getting stolen on the first day she received it.

That night, she called the landlord to inform him that she would be moving out earlier than expected. The landlord promised to stop by the next morning to check the house and determine whether her security deposit should be given back or not.

At the same time, she also called a friend of hers who lived in the same neighborhood and had been looking for cheaper furniture. It wasn't easy to buy new as it was expensive.

The friend was very excited and promised to stop by the next day as well as she was working a night shift.

Diamond slept peacefully and without a single worry.

The next morning, the first person who came was the friend that Diamond called the previous day. Her name was Alice, and she was around twenty-three years old.

She recently finished her studies, and she also found a job that paid well. As an independent young woman, she was renting a room, and it needed some furniture.

"Since you are moving out, why do you need to sell everything? Isn't it good to take everything with you?" Alice asked in wonder.

She knew the type of job Diamond did, and she doubted if she could afford something brand new for another house at this stage.

Diamond wasn't willing to expose herself so early, so she chuckled lightly and answered, "Don't worry about that. I have the other side sorted out. Just tell me whether you want it or not."

Alice didn't know what was happening with Diamond, but the other was very serious about selling everything. She was also tempted as Diamond's property was well maintained and she was someone that she knew and trusted as well.

"I want it, so how much are you selling it for?" Alice rubbed her hands anxiously.

She had a budget, and she prayed seriously that she wouldn't get overcharged.

Diamond wanted to get rid of the furniture as fast as she could and she also didn't want to make things difficult for Alice, so she lowered the price for everything. After all, she bought them second-hand and not brand new.

"For everything, just give me A$3,000," she gave Alice an answer.

Alice was dumbfounded when she heard this quoted price. It wasn't that it was high, but it didn't seem fair at all. After all, she had been searching for property for a very long time now.

"Are you sure? Isn't your price a bit low?" Alice was very worried about Diamond; she didn't want her to give away her property at such a low price, just because they knew each other.

"You are a friend, so consider this a family discount!" Diamond joked as she was in a good mood.

Alice wasn't going to persuade Diamond twice; it was simply unfavorable to her and she didn't have money to give out if the price increased.

"Okay then, I will take it, and thank you so much."

"It's a small thing. You need to move them as soon as possible; I need to move into my new place as well."

"Hahaha, just leave everything to me. I will be done in a jiffy!" Alice was very happy to get such a bargain and didn't hesitate to send the payment to Diamond, which she did via Orange Money, the e-wallet mobile money service that Diamond registered for earlier.

Alice was anxious to get her property, so she immediately left to find some movers to help her. While waiting for Alice to return, the landlord finally came to check the house.

The landlord was a rogue, and she didn't like him a lot. He was truly a bully, and she used to put up with him before because she didn't have anywhere to go, but now things were different and there was no way that she was going to allow him to take advantage of her.

Diamond was wearing a mask and wig again as she didn't want the people who see her every day to see this sudden change of hers.

The two didn't have a pleasant talk at all. The man simply refused to give her, her security deposit and spotted several mishaps that left her astonished upon hearing them.

In the end, she decided to be magnanimous and let the man just keep the money. After all, she wasn't lacking this small amount at all now.

Alice quickly arrived with a few men, who began to move everything out of the house. Diamond packed her clothes only as she had sold everything to Alice, including the blankets themselves.

Alice was done moving her things after two hours, and Diamond handed over the key to the landlord. She wasn't planning on cleaning the room at all. The man simply pocketed her money without shame, so why should she clean the room?

The man simply scoffed at Diamond when she was leaving and was very happy about the profit he made. With Diamond gone, the man quickly took out his phone and began to call a potential tenant.

Diamond took a taxi to where she parked her car the previous day and made her way to the shopping mall for another round of shopping.

On this day, she bought some bed sheets for her bedroom and more clothes for casual wear.

When she was done doing this, she visited TRANS, a wholesale distributor of food items and other things for some shopping.

As she didn't have any food in the new house, she needed to buy it. She took a huge trolley and began to pick what she wanted, like rice, mealie meal, flour, macaroni, spaghetti, tinned stuff, cooking oil, salt, sugar, spices, etc.

She only stopped picking things when the trolley was full. Being able to buy so much in bulk was very interesting, and it also saved money. Just because she had money, she wasn't going to splurge on it crazily.

She wasn't the only person buying groceries, so she queued along with others and when her time arrived, she looked at the till computer with an expressionless face but deep down; she was going crazy.

This was the first time that she bought so much at once, especially food. She swiped her other bank card with a lot of money, without flinching despite the crazy amount.

And she left the shop towards her car with her head held high like the missus she was.
