17 Chapter 17.

Just as Old Jack was about to pick up the proof, Wang Feng intervened and stopped him. A mischievous smile played on Wang Feng's lips as he spoke, "Poor village, you say?"

Stepping forward, Wang Feng retrieved a golden soul coin from his pocket. He skillfully tossed the coin between his fingers, capturing the guards' attention entirely.

Their eyes widened at the sight of the Golden Soul Coin—an item that could sustain an ordinary family in Nuoding City for several months! The mere thought of possessing such wealth exceeded their monthly earnings by far.

"Pick up the proof obediently and I'll let you have it." Wang Feng declared with a playful grin. "You two dogs have offended our Holy Soul Village. Think twice before saying anything about us in Nuoding City again!"

Despite being merely six years old, Wang Feng exuded an imposing aura as he confidently stepped forward, tossing the Golden Soul Coin in his hand. The guards exchanged glances, visibly puzzled by the unexpected turn of events. Could children from a remote village possess such valuable treasures? Was Holy Soul Soul Village more significant than they had imagined?

The combination of the innately full of soul power proof and the golden soul coin left the guards in shock and hesitation. Wang Feng continued, raising his voice, "Two academy guards defying the Soul Hall? Nuoding Academy is getting bolder, challenging the Spirit Hall with mere guards? Perhaps we should go straight to the Soul Hall instead of wasting time here."

He turned around as if ready to leave, making the guards freeze in fear, as their faces became pale at the implications. The prospect of opposing the Soul Hall, even if just in words, frightened them to the core. They didn't want any trouble with the Soul Hall.

Realizing the potential consequences, the guards hurriedly picked up the proof, adopting a flattering demeanor as he approached Wang Feng. They had changed their tune completely, now treating Wang Feng very carefully.

"We were wrong to underestimate you earlier, young master. It was a mistake on our part. We have no intention of going against the Soul Hall." The guards hurriedly explained, trying to rectify the situation.

Tang San and Old Jack were taken aback by the dramatic shift in the guard's      attitude, surprised at how Wang Feng's few words could completely alter their behavior.

Meanwhile, Wang Feng maintained an indifferent expression, seemingly engrossed in examining the golden soul coin. Inwardly, he sneered, recalling that in the original, this guard was the type who intentionally made things difficult, especially when Old Jack failed to offer them any 'gifts.' It reminded him of similar situations in China where people could be quite shrewd.

Wang Feng vividly remembered that later on, the guard had attempted to confront Old Jack, only to be thwarted by Tang San's intervention. It wasn't until an influential figure appeared that the situation settled down.

However, Wang Feng had no intention of prolonging the game with the guard. He didn't want them to harm Grandpa Jack, so he decided to take matters into his own hands and put an end to their doubts.

After all, as a transmigrator, it didn't require much effort to outwit these two first grade dumbasses who can't even recognize Soul Hall Awakening certificate. First, he had shown them the golden soul coin to make them realize he was not someone to be underestimated. Then, he wore a figurative big hat, instilling fear and reluctance in the guards to question him further.

Moreover, in recent years, the Holy Soul Village had progressed quite significantly and it was no longer as impoverished as it once was. Wang Feng had personally saved a few gold soul coins but Grandpa Jack, being from a simple and honest village, was not accustomed to the city ways.

Ignoring the guard's response, Wang Feng pointed at Grandpa Jack, and he quickly apologized with humility. To see the himself receive such respect just because of money in the city was both incredible and surprising for Old Jack.

In a confident tone, he sent them away, tossing the Golden Soul Coin casually as a reward. Overwhelmed with gratitude, the guards bowed repeatedly and asked them not to bring the matter to Soul Hall, acknowledging their mistake.

Witnessing this exchange, Tang San and Old Jack were left astounded. Wang Feng's tactics surpassed the cunning of elders of the Tang Sect. The middle-aged man watching from afar was equally amazed by the young boy's incredible display of power.

"This kid is truly remarkable," he thought, admiring Wang Feng's thought process.

Tang San was left pondering, "Are you really just six years old brother Feng? Your methods are more powerful than seasoned adults."

And Old Jack couldn't help but touch his head in disbelief, still struggling to comprehend the situation.

As the events unfolded, Wang Feng maintained a calm exterior, knowing that money could be a powerful tool in the right hands. He didn't care about the golden soul coin but the effect it had on others was worth it.

The middle-aged man also approached the trio and spoke in a deep voice, "Wait, this incident is not the doing of Nuoding Academy. Allow me to apologize on behalf of it."

He gave the guard a cold glance, silently expressing his disapproval of their behavior. The man had witnessed the entire scene and had intended to intervene but was taken aback by the young boy's exceptional display of cleverness. It seemed like Wang Feng, who appeared to be only six years old, possessed the wisdom and maturity of someone in their 20s or 30s.

When the guards attempted to offer Silver Soul Coins as compensation, Wang Feng's rejection and subsequent gifting of a Golden Soul Coin impressed the man. This combination of the carrot and stick tactic solidified the guard's loyalty to Wang Feng.

Tang San and Old Jack were also surprised by the sudden appearance of the middle-aged man and even the guard showed great respect to him, indicating his importance within the academy. The man, Yu Xiaogang, agreed to take care of Wang Feng and Tang San and they readily accepted his offer.

As they walked together, Old Jack cautioned Wang Feng and Tang San multiple times. Wang Feng observed the middle-aged man, realizing that he must be crucial to Tang San's life on Douluo Continent, acting as his lifelong teacher and mentor. Wang Feng noticed the man's sharp eyes, which gave off an odd pressure, seemingly able to see through him. However, he dismissed the notion, chalking it up to his delusion.

Curious about Wang Feng's martial soul, the Green Lotus soul, Yu Xiaogang wondered if it was a twin martial soul, similar to Tang San's Blue Silver Grass. Little did he know that the Green Lotus soul was a name concocted by Tang San when the proof was issued as Wang Feng pretended to be hesitant to decide on a name. Su Yuntao, the one who issued the proof, had agreed to this name because of the green colour of the lotus martial soul.

After Old Jack bid goodbyes and left, Wang Feng and Tang San entered the academy with Yu Xiaogang. Tang San addressed him as "teacher", but Yu Xiaogang clarified that he was just an idler in the academy and preferred to be called grandmaster. Tang San deduced that the title 'grandmaster' indicated someone of great power and importance, even if not an official teacher at the college.

Impressed by Tang San's perceptiveness, Yu Xiaogang smiled and asked why he thought he was powerful. Tang San explained that only someone truly influential would be addressed as 'grandmaster' and have the authority to represent the academy. He believed that Yu Xiaogang's status was higher than that of a regular teacher.

The middle-aged man laughed heartily in response to Tang San's flattery. Wang Feng realized that this encounter between Tang San and the master was a crucial point in history, just as he had anticipated.

The master commended Tang San's keen observation, even guessing that Tang San possessed twin martial soul and had a promising future. He explained that although he was an idler at the academy, he lacked the capability to be Tang San's official teacher.

However, Tang San was determined to have the grandmaster as his mentor. He was impressed by the man's ability to discern his twin souls, a secret known only to his father. The master was the first person to do so at the Junior Soul Master Academy, making him stand out among the mentors.

The master agreed to take on Tang San as his disciple, amused by Tang San's persistence and insight. He then turned to Wang Feng, asking if he knew about his own twin martial soul spirits.

This revelation surprised Tang San, realizing that Wang Feng also possessed twin martial arts. He looked at Wang Feng in astonishment, wondering if this was true.

Wang Feng admitted to having a humanoid martial soul but claimed not to be aware of it. He explained that the master's guess was purely speculative and he had no knowledge of him having twin spirits. Wang Feng's lack of memory about the details of Douluo Continent's content left him unaware of his twin martial soul.

The master was intrigued by Wang Feng's ability to observe such subtleties, recognizing that Wang Feng had guessed about the twin spirits from reading the proof. This surprised him as Wang Feng could deduce such details with just a single glance at the certificate.

He wondered how Wang Feng could make such connections and speculated about the depth of Wang Feng's intelligence. The master was impressed by their young minds, finding them quite remarkable.

(E/N: Believe me when I say this even for me the last few paragraphs felt pure BS but it's just a small event, not enough to reach the apex..cough..not enough to affect the story as a whole.)
