Side Story Hero

*** Important Notice: I have decided to make a few changes to the story to round out the characters. The main plot points will remain the same. I am also removing/ combining some chapters. Alex is your average 16 year old girl except for one problem, she is a walking disaster. She has no coordination, stumbling through her daily life attempting to avoid the destruction of anything and everything around her. Koa is an Elf Warrior of the High Guard. However, his black hair, something only seen in Dark Elves, has caused distrust. In order to prove himself, Koa agrees to embark on a journey to retrieve the three Mysteries of Power, starting with a book. They have nothing to do with each other. Then the two collide (quite literally), and everything changes, for both of them. Suddenly Alex finds herself in a different world stuck with an elf on an adventure of a lifetime. Except Alex is an accident on two legs and Koa has no time to save the world from evil. He’s too busy trying to save it from Alex.

Chapter 11

Koa caught Alex as her body slumped forward. She felt hot and her breathing sounded laboured.

"We have to get her to the nurses office." Koa looked up and found Dylon had run back. "I can take her."

"No," Koa interrupted Dylon who had reached out to take hold of Alex. Picking her up in a princess hold, Koa looked back at Dylon, "show me where."

Ignoring the concerns of Mr. Badger and the fellow students, Koa and Dylon left the cafeteria in a hurry. Once they reached their destination Dylon knocked on the door and checked the knob.

"It's locked. Everyone is on lunch." Dylon stated the obvious in frustration. He looked back at Alex with concern. "We have to find somewhere to lay her down, get her cool."

Koa's arms had become damp from the sweat pouring from Alex, her face scrunched up in pain. Koa hesitated before deciding he was out of time. He turned to Dylon, "I can open it." Reluctantly handing Alex gently into Dylon's ready arms, Koa moved in front of the lock. He shifted his body slightly in order to obscure Dylon's view of the door knob and Koa's actions. Focusing the magic in his hand, Koa brushed his thumb over the lock of the door. Within seconds the lock rusted and the door opened.

Dylon rushed past and laid Alex on the single bed in the small room. Koa turned his attention to what he could make use of in the room, while Dylon removed Alex's bulky sweater, her shoes and her socks. He then rolled up her pants to the knees.

Meanwhile, Koa grabbed multiple bottles of water and placed them beside the bed. He then searched in the cupboards and located rolls of paper towel. He then immediately got to work.

Koa ripped large pieces of paper towel and folded them. He then handed the folded pieces to Dylon. "Our the water from the bottles to dampen these. Then place the damp cloths into her ankles and the back of her knees." Dylon did as directed. Koa had dampened the remaining pieces and was placing them on Alex's wrists, elbows and neck.

Once this task was completed, Koa removed a square piece of tan fabric from the breast pocket of his jacket. He pulled at the corner of the fabric to loosen it then quickly shook it out. The tan fabric that was moments ago only three inches in width was now the size of a hand towel. Koa leaned over Alex and ran cloth down her face and part of her exposed chest removing removing the sweat. As he did so he eyed the green stone hanging around her neck, watching it glow.

"What do you think that is?" Dylon was eyeing the glowing stone around Alex's neck.

Koa remained silent, continuing to wipe Alex and replace the damp cloths with new ones.

"I'll take it as you have no idea then." Dylon said, more to himself. "Is there a reason you're a prick?"

Koa continued to ignore Dylon, his attention focused on the stone around Alex's neck. Koa had thought originally of removing the stone and taking it with him. That would have been much easier. However, he wasn't sure what that would do to the girl. Koa wasn't willing to take that risk.

Instead Koa thought it best to intercept the magic. Or at least create a weak point so the girl would have a way to escape. With his eyes closed he could see red and lavender coloured magic moving in chaotic patterns. Like he had with the Ruin magic, Koa called out to the stone's magic. He reached out hoping to grab hold of it...

"What the hell are you doing?" Dylan had grabbed a hold of Koa's shoulder and pulled him back. Koa looked at Dylon in confusion.

"Is she your girlfriend or something?" Dylan was clearly angry about something.

"No," Koa responded without emotion. He tried to move away from Dylon, Koa had been so close to touching the magic...

"Then what, you normally just try to make out with some girl when she's passed out?" Koa stopped and looked at Dylan. "I see," Koa thought to himself, "this human has misunderstood." Dylon obviously had romantic feelings for this girl. It would be best to clear this up now.

"I have an interest in this girl; however, once I am done with her you may have her." Koa then patted Dylon on the arm in an attempt at camaraderie then moved the human to the side.

Dylon stood shocked as Koa returned to Alex.

"What did you...?" Suddenly Alex groan in pain, interrupting Dylon.

"Alex! Alex, wake up! We have to get help. She's in pain." Dylon had again shoved Koa aside moving to Alex's side. Koa watched, paying close attention to the stone. The light appeared to have dimmed. "She's stronger than I thought, interesting." Koa said to himself. He stood watch for a moment longer before quietly exiting. The girl would be fine and now he knew where the stone was. Koa closed the door and made his way to the principal's office. First he would get the book, then he could deal with the girl.
