ss for short [4 - 10-23-2020] - hunting (part two)

I was glad I had pa there to watch over me. The forests were scary, filled with beasts and monsters, some with tentacles and other with wings and sharp claws, mouths filled with fangs and teeth that could go all the way to my arm and bite it off like it was nothing. I've seen it once. But I know those usually stay far deep into the forests, and there's nothing to worry about as long as you're careful.

If you're careful.

I was not always careful.

Now Chesyl is hurt. A villager is dead, and it's all my fault.

I keep forgetting it's not my fault. Da keeps telling me, but I can't really not forget. Maybe what he's saying is true. I know it is. But deep down, I keep thinking, that maybe it's not. I'm not all so sure about it.

All I'm sure about is that chesyl is hurt and that makes me hurt, and I'm willing to do whatever I can so it won't never ever hurt like this, ever again.

I went to search for herbs, under the ever so watchful gaze of my father. I knew he was there. I just didn't know where he was. He always was silent and alert and unseen. I was not. I tried to be careful. to watch my steps as I go, as to not land on overly conspicuous strands of grass and sticks.

I still cannot walk quite so soundly like my father yet, so I'll just have to focus my attention to being extra careful.

The magical forest was a sight. This thick bushes and tall grass slowly brushing against the wind with the synchronous humming of birds, filling in the daily quota for what the village could only call music. The humongous trees that seemed to only grow bigger as you close in, like a giant wave of green that threatened to flood the world. There was a thick scent and feel of mana here, the various colors splattered on the ground because of it varied, not just the regular green. there was blue and brown and red, flowers littering the floor, and mushrooms on the husks of fallen trees. it was like nature's wild palette of paint. the forest was a lot to take in all at once. I heard there were fairies. I heard there were scary monsters.

I've seen scary monsters.

I've faced scary monsters.

I've survived.

All I had to do is do bring home some herbs for Cheryl, tomorrow I'll make it'll make it better.

And tomorrow we're gonna go hunting.
