1 Story - 1 Queen Rosa Winter

'I should not sleep today. Stay awake. Stay awake.' I slapped my cheeks to keep my brain active.

I drank almost fifty cups of coffee and my stomach couldn't take any more caffeine. I started to jog around the room recalling the day when I started to have nightmares. It all happened a week ago when a lawyer showed up on my door. He handed me a copy of the inheritance of the ship 'Queen Rosa Winter' that my grandfather owned. I felt drowsy and my eyes closed.

"No, No, No... Wake up! Wake up!" I pinched my arm and thigh to stay awake.

At that moment, I heard a knock on my door.

'Who could it be at this time of the night?' I wondered.

I turned my head towards the clock and it showed two o'clock. With shivering hands, I opened the door slightly.

"It's her, arrest her officers," My brother stood in front of me along with some uniformed officers.

"What is going on?" I asked them.

But no one responded to me. Suddenly, someone manhandled me by slamming my body on the cold floor. My nose hit the floor first and I am sure it's broken. My right cheeks scratched on the nail that was poking out of the door below.

"You are under arrest for killing seven innocent lives. We have found all the evidence against you in your garage. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you." The officer said.

My eyes twitched as the wound inflicted by the nail on my cheek started to burn as the officer kept on pushing my head on the ground.

"No, it was not me. It's my grandfather. Please, please let me go. I never went out of my house these past seven days. Please... He killed them all, I saw it. Please, you have to listen to me. It's my grandfather," I begged them with tears blurring my sight.

My beggings fell on deaf ears and no one listened to my explanation. I looked at my brother for support but all he did was threw a look of disdain. Just before I was tucked into the police car, my brother came towards me and murmured into my ears,

"Now the ship is mine. Grandfather should have left me that inheritance and not you."

I looked at him in terror. He had a triumph smile on his face. Suddenly, his face changed into a blank expression when the officer came near us and shoved me into the car.

I understood at that time, the horror I have been seeing all these nights was not inflicted by my grandfather but it's my brother. When I looked outside the car's window, I noticed my grandfather and my brother's face merge into one.
