Chapter 1: The love lost at sea

"My love...."

It's like I can still hear his voice. The salty air brushing against my face. My eyes sting and burn ready to flood with tears.

It has been years since I lost him at sea.

I was young, and so was he. we met in a small town with no dreams of a future. Joseph was his name. We fell so deeply in love to which we promised to never be with another. We had taken a ship ride for our ten year anniversary. Sadly there was a storm.....and he didn't make it. Ever since I lost him, I came and scattered flowers in the sea. I always hoped he had gotten them.

My heart pounding in my chest, tears falling nonstop. My ears are deaf to the sound of the waves, the air, and my own sobs.

The only thing I could hear was his voice in the distance.

My whole body began to shake as my eyes widened, I looked up to see a figure in the distance.

It came closer....and closer...and closer...

I couldn't move. My knees buckled and I fell to the ground, my old bones aching from the fall.

It was him...

He looked so young and alive.

He smiled and waved.

"......" His voice was muted, yet I could understand.

his words spoke, "My dear, do not cry for me. I had lost everything, but you. You are just like the flowers you had thrown, old and wilted, but beautiful and preserved. My love, join me one last time before you must leave."

I was still shaking. With every second I took another step. I couldn't stop. I knew it wasn't real, but I couldn't move by my own will.

I stepped closer the warm sunset coated water covering my feet, my legs, and now my torso.

He was so close I could touch him. My eyes began to blacken as our lips came closer. right when our lips touched, I couldn't breathe. I opened my eyes but was immediately greeted with salt and blurry vision. I was underwater. This was It. I was dead. Right when I believe that he had made it. my time comes.
