The Meeting

There was a secret meeting tonight and I had to be there, this had gone on for too long and everyone stayed quiet, now everyone believes the lies feed to us. But I know better, I have seen the world back then; when you could walk from building to build and did not need to rely on machines to 'live'. When people had opinions, emotions, options, freedom. Back when people were - what I can now call myself - open-minded.

That's what I want to see in the rest of the world, not just a handful of people. That is why I must be at the meeting tonight, to help change the world, not drown with it. Putting on my mask and making sure the mask was air-tight, I opened my first door, a thick white steel door, similar to a safe door and locked it behind me. Once I was sure it was locked - airtight - I strapped my feet down securely to the cold cement floor of the entrance room and pressed the bottom next to me on my right. The room was suddenly filled with water as the other steel door in front of me opened.

That is the world today, in 2058 all the icecaps disappeared overnight and water levels rose dramatically, the water levels rose so much that you can only see the waist up on the Statue of Liberty in New York. Now everything is underwater, except for all the tall structures and some floating islands that the engineers of 2060 managed to make to keep the rich safe from the dangers of the waters.

20 years ago that happened, and 20 years is long enough in my opinion.

As I swam towards the bunker that held the future of my planet I grew more and more excited.

I went inside and after taking off my mask I approached Jimmy.

"I saw TWELVE Dolphins today," he said.

"Cool, I saw SIX Seahorses today," I answered.

With a smile and a nod, he opened the secret door revealing a dark passage downwards. The walk down was cold and quiet, something you would expect to see in a horror movie. But I was rewarded for my efforts when I came to a door.

A door that held the most valuable treasure this planet has to offer.

Trees.

Each Tree was about 5 inches tall and about 20 different species of Trees in there, some grew fruit and some didn't. But everyone that had helped keep these trees alive and hidden had done an amazing job.

Now, all we had to do is make them known to the rest of the world, without getting killed.

A piece of cake.

Hopefully.

My thoughts were interrupted by banging and shouting on the staircase.

Oh No.
