Chapter 14 -Chiyo's disease

Chiyo woke up in her bed, she gazed beside her to see the other side empty and untouched.

The past month has been hard on her, she has been showing signs of developing a disease, she can't gather energy to do her tasks like she used to do, can't feel her fingertips, started struggling to walk, and most concerning, her past injuries have also been affected, the once cured wounds have been acting up and her scars are turning red from the pain.

She was a proud kozuki, even though married, she had taken pride in her husband's family and what she had the luck of being a part of. Even though what she had to sacrifice was.....heavy, she didn't regret being engaged to isshin and the 55 years they have been married.

She woke up and freshened up, she had to take care of the kozuki castle after all. She went outside to tend to some flowers and saw the silhouette of her husband and someone else with him.

She ran towards the gate and smiled, which her husband reciprocated.

" Chiyo, I missed you "

" I have also dear, I'm happy you decided to come back within a month this time "

" hahaha, Chiyo let's get inside, tell the servants to warm up some tea and food I am hungry for your dishes "

Nodding she went inside and the two followed her.

As food was ready they sat down and started eating

" it seems time flows differently for you Mrs. Kureha," Chiyo said as she slowly and elegantly ate her food.

" ah! thanks, I take care of myself "

" what's the occasion ?" Chiyo asked her eyes on her husband

Isshin silently drank his tea and gazed at Kureha and said starting into Chiyo's eyes

" I wanted to find out what disease you have and cure you "

Chiyo was stunned, she was sure she had covered up after herself but sighed thinking about her tough husband who was a huge softie inside.

" there's no point in being surprised if I couldn't see your troubles, I couldn't call myself your husband "

Chiyo nodded and smiled.

"I and Kureha will go to the next room for the treatment "

They went on with the treatment.

isshin sat in the same place drinking some tea while the servants kept on refiling it.

The process went on till evening when Chiyo had fallen asleep and a frowning Kureha came out of the room and sat in front of isshin who stared at her for her observations

Kureha opened her mouth but closed it, she refused to make eye contact instead opting to look like she was in deep thought.

" she has 3 years max, Chiyo sama has an incurable disease"
