Talks and Mystery

On the way to the cafe, Shoma was in thought thinking of the event that happened not too long ago. 'Haa I'm gonna get an earful from granny. I could try and hide it...but knowing granny Melida it's a dead-end no matter what. I feel like the women in this world have an intuition that is inhuman, and to be honest it's really scary especially from granny.'

While Shoma was thinking this he was brought out of his thoughts when they arrived at the cafe and sat at a table. After we sat down we ordered drinks and Maria went in and brought us our orders.

'So does work here or something,' Shoma thought to himself.

"I want to thank you two again for helping us out of that situation," Maria said with a smile and light blush.

"Yes...thank you both for helping us," Sicily added.

"Nah, it was nothing really and the way those guys were to you two ticked me off," Shoma said in a carefree attitude. 'And they pissed me off but they don't need to know that and I would have helped either way.'

"Yea it was nothing much and they weren't that strong," Shin said then took a sip of his drink.

"We wouldn't have been in that situation if we used magic," Maria said in an annoyed tone.

"Maria you know that offensive magic is prohibited in town," Sicily said reprimanded Maria a bit.

'Oh, I guess I overlooked that well it was small enough that Shin wouldn't notice.' Shoma thought to himself.

"Oh that's right we still haven't introduced ourselves yet. Well, my name's Maria and this here is Sicily." Maria said while introducing Sicily happily.

"I'm Sicily it's nice to meet you," Sicily said with a small smile.

"Likewise it's nice to meet you too I'm Shin and this is my brother Shoma," Shin said introducing the two of us.

"Nice to meet you two as well I'm Shoma and like Shin said I'm his brother," Shoma said with a smile.

"And you said you can use magic does that mean you are a student at the magic academy?" Shin asked Maria.

"Well I will be if I pass the entrance exams next month," replied Maria.

"Oh, so you'll be taking the exams also!" Shin said happily surprised.

"Yeah Sicily is also taking it, wait did you say also are you applying to the magic academy," Maria said then asked shocked.

"Yup both of us are gonna be taking the exam as well," Shin said while Shoma nodded in agreement.

Both Sicily and Maria just stared at Shin and Shoma for a few seconds then spoke.

"Wait your both applying for the magic academy and your both adept at martial arts and magic," Maria said shocked at the two.

"We thought you two were students of the knight academy..." Sicily said shocked as well.

"Nope we're both going to the same school as you two so let's work hard," Shin said while extending his hand.

"Well, I'm aiming for the top so I won't lose," Maria said with confidence shaking Shin's hand.

"We'll try my best," replied Shin.

"Don't disappoint me," Maria said to Shin then turned to Shoma with a slight blush said, "And you better not disappoint either." And motioned her hand to Shoma as Shin moved his hand to Sicily.

"Don't worry I won't disappoint you," Shoma said while shaking Maria's hand with a soft smile while thinking. 'Wow her aura is warm and comforting like granny and big sis Chris.' Shoma thought while shaking Maria's hand but this time keeping his ears and tails in check.

'Ok this not good or maybe it is, no no I can't show my ears and tails because like granny said this is unheard of and I don't know how people will treat me. Especially Maria and Sicily, knowing them from the series is one thing while knowing them in real life is two different things.' Shoma thought to himself as he holds his ears and tails from showing.

Shoma and Maria retracted their hands and smiled at each other then Maria heard Sicily and turned to see her starring at Shin's hand with a bit of a red face. After Shin shook hands with Maria he motioned to Sicily to shake her hand as well but seen that she just stared at his hand.

"Ah...oh your hand..." Sicily said unsure if she should shake Shin's hand or not while feeling odd.

'Oh was I acting too familiar with her asking for a handshake?' Shin contemplated to himself.

"Hm~ what's wrong Sicily you feeling well~?" Maria asked Sicily in a teasing tone.

"N-nothings wrong...ahem let's do our best," Sicily said with a small smile and a bit of a red face shaking Shin's hand.

"Likewise," replied Shin shaking Sicily's hand with a smile.

"And best of luck to you as well," Sicily said while shaking Shoma's hand.

"Good luck to you as well," replied Shoma with a smile. 'She has a really nice aura sweet and calm.'

"So what middle school did you two come from because I haven't seen you guy's around here before," Maria asked Shin and Shoma in a curious voice.

"Actually we just arrived at the Capital," Shin said to Maria in a calm tone.

"We were just going around and exploring the place and try some of the food while wondering," Shoma said after finishing his drink.

"Oh is that so...oh by the way did you hear that the Wiseman and the Guru have come to the Capital," Maria said excitedly.

"Oh, that yea...I think I heard about it," Shin said while trying to feign ignorance.

"Yea it was it's the talk of the town while we were walking around," Shoma said calmly while feigning ignorance as well.

"Why do you sound so uninterested in them Shin don't you think they're cool. Of course, you do who wouldn't think they are. They're national heroes." Maria said passionately with admiration in every word while Shin is trying his best to act casual but fails with only Shoma noticing while trying not to laugh.

'This is so embarrassing but I feel proud hearing grandpa and granny being praised," Shin said to himself while ignoring Shoma trying not to laugh.

'Haha, why is it so funny to see Shin embarrassed and I already know he's like that right now because grandpa and granny are being praised. I feel proud of them as well but I don't feel embarrassed.' Shoma thought to himself while looking at Shin.

Sicily noticed Shin and Shoma acting odd while Maria was talking about the Wiseman and Guru. She asked, "Are you two alright."

"Yea I'm good just thought of something funny that's all," Shoma said after calming down and replied casually.

"Y-yea I'm fine...so Maria you really like gra-er the Wiseman and the Guru don't you," Shin replied then asked, Maria.

"Like is too weak, I'm completely obsessed with them, oh and I heard that their grandsons are taking the exams as well," Maria said still excited. "I bet they're just like their grandpa and were the same age as well."

"Well we better get going," Shin said while getting up and grabbing the bill.

"We can pay for ourselves you don't have to do that," Maria said after seeing Shin grab the check.

"Nah it's fine and it let me look cool for a bit," Shin said to Maria in a calm tone.

Shoma seen this and got as well and followed Shin going to pay the bill. "Well I'll see you girls later have a good day," Shoma said waving to them while walking.

After Shin paid him and Shoma said their goodbyes and left. Once Shin and Shoma were out of view Maria and Sicily chatted.

"He was kind of cool and there quite handsome as well," Maria said while staring in the direction of where Shin and Shoma left.

"Yeah"

"They're both skilled in martial arts and a magician as well," Maria said.

"Yeah"

"Hmm, It's fine if I kiss them right," Maria said seeing Sicily in a daze and wanted to tease her.

"Yeah"

"Oh~ is that so I guess I'll take Shoma," Maria said in a teasing tone but blushed while saying it.

"Yeah"

"Hehe I guess I'll take Shin as well," Maria said teasingly waiting for a reaction.

"Ye...Wait you can't Shin," Sicily said than seen Maria's teasing smile looking at her, "Maria." Sicily said with a red face getting teased by Maria.

"Haha sorry sorry I couldn't help it and so you like Shin hmm~ is it love at first sight," Maria said apologizing then teased a little bit more.

"Mou...I wouldn't say it's love at first sight but my heart is beating fast but I don't mind. And my body feels warm at the thought," Sicily Pouted then said with a red face unsure of what she is feeling right now.

'That bad huh,' Maria said to herself while having a wry smile looking at her best friend.

"What about Shoma you like him," Sicily said looking at Maria to get back at her and sees her face go red.

"Wha-what are you talking about we just met even though he looked cool taking out those guys. And he's quite handsome as well an-," Maria said then stopped when she saw Sicily smiling and heard her giggle.

"Fufu I guess you like him a lot if you said all that fufu," Sicily said happily while teasing Maria a bit.

Maria was embarrassed at being teased but then they both just laughed afterward and started to go home. While walking they had one thought, 'Why did Shoma have ears and a tail and why was he a bit panicked.' They put that to the back of their minds after a while.

After Shin and Shoma parted ways with Maria and Sicily they walked around a bit more and then headed home when it was getting late. Once they arrived at the gate of the house they greeted the guard.

"Were back Alex," Shin and Shoma said to the guard named Alex.

"Welcome back young master's Shin and Shoma I hope you enjoyed your trip," Alex welcomed and greeted back Shin and Shoma.

"Thanks and yea it was fun to see so many new things and try some of the foods," Shoma said to Alex.

"Thanks, Alex and it was fun," Shin said to Alex. 'Ugh, I guess I'll have to get used to being called that.'

After they were done chatting Shin and Shoma entered and walked to the door. While they were walking Shoma had a bad feeling the closer he got closer to the door but just sighed and accepted his fate.

Once they opened the door they were greeted by the head maid Marika. "Welcome home young master's I hope you had a great time in the town," Marika said then bowed.

"Yea we're home Marika thank you and it was fun," Shin replied.

"Thanks, Marika and it was fun," replied Shoma.

After that, they walked to the living room while Marika went back to her work. Once Shin and Shoma walked into the living they were met with a stern look from granny. Shin was panicking while Shoma just had an expectant look and sighed.

Melida seeing this watched as both Shin and Shoma walked to the couch across from her and sat down. After they sat down it was silent for a bit until Shoma broke the silence with a sigh and looked at Melida in the eyes.

"First of all I want to say I'm sorry and it was unexpected," Shoma said in a calm tone to Melida.

Melida hearing this got an idea of what happened and just waited for Shoma to continue.

"My ears and tail appeared seeing a girl after I and Shin saved them and it was only for a few seconds. And after I noticed I hid them again and played it off as just my magic taking form and they somewhat believed it, I can tell they won't say anything from their auras. And I know that we just got here and I did this and I am sorry." Shoma explained straight to the point to Melida and waited for what was next.

'This child haa what am I gonna do with him. And he was honest about it,' Melida said to herself while looking at Shoma.

After pondering for a bit Melida knocked Shoma's head then sighed. "Haa there's nothing that can be changed so what's already happened has happened. And this girl how did you feel about her?" Melida said tiredly then asked interested in the girl that made this boy's ears and tail appear.

"Ow and umm...I was mesmerized by her at first sight. She has really beautiful red hair and pretty brown eyes. And she's entering the same school," Shoma said straightforwardly with a smile and a bit of a red face.

"Oh love at first sight huh. Well next time you see her you should bring her over I would like to meet her." Melida said to Shoma after hearing him.

"Ok will do~," Shoma said happily.

After that Shin and Shoma talked about how their trip around the town was. Once they finished Shin and Shoma got washed up and had dinner that was prepared for them. After dinner was done they thanked the servants for the meal and Shoma chatted with Coller on a few things about the meal. Coller was surprised at the insight he got from Shoma and thanked him.

"Wow I never would have thought of that thank you again for the insight," Coller thanked Shoma and bowed.

"Nah it was nothing and your food was great but it just needed that little bit to it well anyway good night," Shoma said then walked away to go sleep.

"Sleep well young master," Coller said with gratitude.

After Shoma came out of the kitchen he wished the servants a good night as he headed to his room. Once Shoma got to his room he hopped in his bed and drifted off to sleep.

"...Pro...ct...her, no...ma...er...-" *BZZZT*

"HA-ha wha-what was that ha-ha. And protect her but who, who am I supposed to protect no matter what. Ugh this is giving me a headache haa I don't understand what that was about but I'll think about it later." Shoma said after abruptly waking up after hearing unfamiliar voices broken words and then a loud static.

While Shoma was thinking he noticed it was early in the morning and decided to do his daily training. 'Hmm, let's check my status before anything,' Shoma said to himself but when he checked his status, he wondered something as he looked at it. 'Hmm I thought that was combined with weapons mastery or matter manipulation why does it show separately now. Did it have to do with that voice...haa more headaches?'
