Puppies do good

Oliver sat in the white room mind running far and wide, he had never expected himself to be in such a room so early. He knew that he would've at a point in life with the rate he undergoes stress. When the doctor had told him, devastation would be the wrong vocabulary, he was shocked not petrified, surprised with acceptance. His doctor had advised him to see a therapist to figure out the best way he could reduce stress and live happily.

Happily was another word gone to the field and never to return in his life, Oliver could not recall the last time he was happy, he had always been traumatized deeply by the death of his eldest sister. Yet no one saw, no one held his hands so he wouldn't run to the dark place, no shoulders of comfort, just change, that damaged him even further.

"This is bad." The therapist said. His voice brought Oliver back to the white room and he stared straight into the man with his tired hazel eyes which used to be vibrant long ago.

"Really? Do you think there is anything I can do?" He asked. It sounded stupid but he was lost and needed to get it off his chest.

"Yes, but at this point, you have to be cautious. I've studied your file, and you're a delicate patient who needs care." The therapist ranted while staring right into Oliver from his glasses.

"Do you have friends or family around?"

"No I don't," Oliver replied while breaking eye contact just to stare at the emerald ring on his ring finger.

"You would need their support, you need to watch more comedy and feel relaxed and happy. Stressing out and isolating yourself would only make it worse." The therapist explained.

Oliver stared at the table and thought for a bit before looking up, "I don't have families closer." He said.

"Well, you can adopt a dog or a cat." The therapist dropped his note so all his attention was on Oliver.

The latter raised a brow. "A dog?"

"Yes, for emotional support."

"I don't like pets, and I suffer from so many allergies, I don't know if furs and pet's hair are on the list."

"You would never know if you don't try. That would help your next section with me in a month. And I would like to know if it helped."

Oliver nodded and he thought against it. "Okay, Mr. Williams, until next month." He shook hands with the man and left.

Getting into his car he slumped in his seat by the window as he thought deeply of dying. Before he died he needed to live a little longer to have some sense of fun.

"Take me to the pet shop." He said to the driver, Tim stared down at him in confusion.

"Why? Do you need a pet?" He raised a brow.

"Yeah, my therapist advised me to get it for my well-being, you should report that to my father, too." Oliver rolled his eyes before returning his attention to the window.

Shortly after Oliver's car pulled into a parking lot. The driver helped him out and Tim followed him into the store. Oliver rolled his eyes when he saw posters of cats and dogs and pictures of adoption and happy people. That was absurd. If not for his health he would have walked out as he came.

"How can we help you, sir?" A young man walked up to them with the shop's Pink and blue T-shirt and a baseball cap, with the same color and logo.

"I would like to adopt a dressed puppy, nothing savage. I want it to be obedient." Oliver stated.

"We have that, but those are expensive and under training, I would suggest you go for adults." The man said.

"I want a puppy because it is easy to get rid of or give away," Oliver said coldly, making the man almost shudder.

"Very well, sir." He glanced at Tim who didn't look concerned, registering how rich the boy standing before him must be from his outfit to his polish words.

The man escorted them to a series of cages with beautiful and cute puppies, all looking good, because when they walked in the puppies all stood on their back paws standing and wagging their tails.

Oliver quickly scans through them, "I want the German Shepherd." He pointed after a simple glance. He took out his card without hesitation.

"She is the best in our program. You'll have to bring her over for her for a last check-up and completion of her training. Every detail would be given to you in her document." The man said as he guided them into an office.

Oliver signed as quickly as possible and paid, the puppy was put on lash and handed to him as the started toward the exit Tim suddenly came in front of him shielding him from the bump.

Coffee spilled over his suit and two girls gasped. "I'm very sorry, sir." The first girl said. Oliver was being shielded by Tim so he couldn't see a thing. He had to step away for a bit, the sight knocked the breath in his lungs out.

"You!" He growled softly.

Evelyn paused as she stared at him, "wait a minute, Mr. Moneybag?" She huffed.

"You don't mean this is the Oliver guy, you have been telling me about." The girl beside her said with a raised brow, she looked like a tomboy, with baggy shorts, a baggy basketball shirt, and a cap facing backward. From looks, anyone could tell she was Chinese.

"Of course Mady," Evelyn responded while rolling her eyes.

Oliver's anger melted into a blank expression as he stepped closer, making it spooky and weird that Evelyn almost backed down. "Good thing we meet today." He said as a small smile formed on his lips, Evelyn saw the smirk that nobody saw.

He pulled out his number in a card, "let me know when you're ready today, I'll send my driver to pick you up," he said.

Evelyn gagged, "ew, I'm not going on a date with you." She spat.

Oliver rolled his eyes, "you would love to, huh? But back to earth Ms. Denim, we have a project together and I hate anything below excellence." He said with his sinister smile as he toy with his expensive ring.

Evelyn looked down at her blue denim, "what-"

"Save it for later, hope you won't chicken out." Oliver chuckled as he strode out with his puppy and bodyguard.

*and that's how her ego led her to my trap. Tonight would be the greatest theater of my life.*
