Episode 19

Dan asked her just jokingly if they could go to Kisumu together and to his surprise, Florence didn't say yes but she said she was not going to work that day, meaning she was free to go anywhere.

Dan didn't want to disappoint her, so she went with her to Kisumu. When they arrived, Dan took her to his

office, then he told Joel to go and buy breakfast for three. That day, even Joel got an opportunity to stay with Dan in his office. Joel was a good storyteller and Dan was a polite man, he knew Florence will be bored

with him once he runs out of words to tell her.

The three, talked to each other upto to around noon then Dan took them

to lunch at Kisumu Hotel, one of the biggest hotels in Kisumu which was being managed by Maseno

University Administration.

After taking lunch, they went for a picnic at Kisumu

Impala Sanctuary where they spent the rest of the day, it

was joyful and lovely, it was one of the best moments

Dan has ever had. Florence was just amazing, Joel was

the entertainer, they started playing a game, the game

was you someone poses a riddle to you then you eighter

give a correct answer or they ask something from you if

you don't have the answer to the riddle.

Joel went first and he posed the first riddle to Florence."Riddle: What is always in front of you but you can't see

it?"

"Future," Florence answered.

"Future is correct, sir, now it's your turn to pose a riddle

to either of us," Joel told Dan to posed the riddle.

"Okay, this riddle goes to Florence still. Riddle: What

can you break, even if you never pick it up or touch it?"

Dan posed his riddle to Florence.

"Heart," Florence replied.

"No, the correct answer is 'promise'. You failed so can

you sing for us one love song." Dan told Florence to sing

for giving the wrong answer to the riddle.

Florence started singing, actually, she was a good singer

and she had a cute voice for singing. Ironically, she sang

one of Dan's favorite songs ;( Perfect by Ed- Sheeran ft

Beyonce). Her voice was so sweet, she even attracted

other local tourists who were also enjoying themselves

around the place. The feeling was so real to Dan.

After singing, they gave her some rounds of applause

and then Joel told her that it was her turn to give a riddle

to either of them. She decided to give it back to Dan.

"Dan, this is yours, Riddle: It belongs to you, but other

people use it more than you do. What is it?" Florence

posed the riddle to Dan.

"Company," Dan replied.

"No, the correct answer is 'your name'. You failed so I

want you to sing and dance for us." Florence told Dan to dance.

Dancing in front of all those people was just impossible

to Dan, he couldn't sing or dance, he ended the game.

They drove back home at around 6 pm, Dan was very

happy, Florence sat next to him in the car, all he could

think of is kissing her and holding her tight on his chest,

but that was just like a dream, he had no idea Florence

was having the same feeling. She was also wishing she

could just give him a kiss and rest her head on Dan's

chest until they get home. They were both afraid of

expressing their feelings to each other.

When they reached Ndori town, Joel stopped the car, the

two birds in the backseat kept staring at each other,

Florence wanted Dan to remind her to get out of the car,

Dan on the other hand also didn't want to let her go. Dan

moved close to her trying to reach the door to open it for

her but she thought Dan wanted to kiss her so she also

moved closer. Dan opened the door and told her to get

back home because it was now getting late, she felt

embarrassed and disappointed.

She thanked Dan then got out of the car, Dan couldn't

stop staring at her eyes. He was already feeling the kiss,

only that all that was imagination, maybe in Viusasa.

She left and Joel drove off, they got home at around 6.30

in the evening, all Dan could see in his eyes was an

image of Florence singing to them at Impala. Florence

sent him a message thanking him for everything and for

the food, she also enjoyed the day. It was her first time at

Impala Sanctuary and her first time being driven in a

Toyota V8 car. The feeling was just awesome. She was

already in love with Dan, but the problem was, they were

both afraid of expressing it to each other.

Dan's father Prof. Kevin Ojwang was back from

Afghanistan, he was in the sitting room watching the

news. His wife Mrs. Mary had briefed him about Dan's

marriage plan with Sarah. After watching the news, he

called Dan and his mother to a meeting to discuss the

matter.

"Dan, your mother told me that you're planning to marry

Dr. Ngesa's daughter. Is that true?" Prof.Ojwang asked.

"Yes Dad, we are planning to marry each other. Mum

said she was going to call for a meeting for both families

to discuss it. I don't if she did." Dan replied.

"For how long have you two been in love? Because I

don't want you to rush into something you will regret

later. Marriage is not something to joke around with and

Ngesa is a very good friend of mine and a family friend,

I can't love to see our kids destroying that friendship

between us." His father asked again.

Dan had no answer to that question because he has never

been in love with Sarah. He looked at his mother,

wondering whether to say the truth or just lie and get

over with it.

"Dan has been in love with that lady for a very long

time. He wanted to marry her long ago, I am the one who

told him to give her some time and study her first. Sarah

is a good woman, she does come here at times to visit us

and she is a working-class lady." Mrs. Mary responded

to the question.

"Okay, if you two have known each other that well and

you're both in love with each other, then well, as your

father I can just give you my blessings and wish you

well. So Mary, have you met with her family?" Prof.

Ojwang asked his wife.

"Yes, I met them today, I have been talking with Mrs.

Ngesa over the same but today I went to their home and

met the two of them. They are very happy and actually,

they are ready for a wedding. So I told them because we

have enough money to plan for the wedding, we can have the wedding next week before you go back." Mrs.

Mary explained.

Dan almost fainted. That is when he realized that the

marriage was real, what threatened him the most was the

wedding, how in hell would he wed a woman he doesn't

love? But it was now too late, he had to live with it.

"Okay, then let's have the wedding next Friday, because

I should be in South Africa next Saturday for a

conference." The wedding was now officially planned,

exactly one week ahead.
