6 The truth

Roseline froze while Nikolas sighed.

"I knew I caught your scent in that cave but I wasn't so sure." He muttered. Roseline turned to him then turned back to Aurora with wide eyes.

"You were in the cave with that monster?! Did he hurt you? Did he touch you?! Tell me!" Roseline shouted with panic in her voice as she searched Aurora's body for wounds or something.

"How can he be a monster when he's the one keeping me alive?" Roseline froze again while Nikolas couldn't help but sigh. She had heard everything.

"You heard that?" Her mother questioned in shock but she didn't bother answering.

"I want to know everything, mother, father. Tell me how I'm connected to him." Roseline pursed her lips and then gasped when she saw the bruise on Aurora's arm.

"Was he the one that bruised you here because I swear…."

"No mother" Aurora interjected, "I fell on the ground and bruised my arm but that's not the matter here. How am I connected to him?" Roseline wanted to say something when Nikolas placed his palm on her shoulder.

"I think it's high time she learns the truth, Roseline," Roseline frowned.

"But…"

"Mother… please," Aurora murmured with pleading eyes that she couldn't help but give in. She sighed as she took a hold of Aurora's hand.

"Okay, My love but you have to know that everything your father and I did was for you and we'll do it again if it meant keeping you safe." Aurora furrowed her eyebrows, not knowing where her mother was going with this. It couldn't be that bad…. Could it?

After a long pause, Roseline finally spoke.

"When you were born, you died seconds later," Aurora gasped as her eyes widened.

"I what?" Roseline sighed.

"After you died, I almost lost my mind because I knew, your father and I knew that you were destined to be something great so it broke my heart that you died shortly after being born. I couldn't accept it, the blue moon shone brightly on the day you were born which meant that you were a special baby and how could a special baby die just like that? It was unbelievable. So your father and I reserved your body in a magical incubator given to us by a witch while we searched for what could keep you alive. After many searches later, we found out that only immortal blood could keep you alive and the only immortal we could think about was the Demigod, Xavier Kratos," Aurora couldn't keep her mouth shut. The story was getting more absurd as it went by.

"He was the Demigod you were talking about that day?" Aurora said in a whisper as she looked up at her father which made him sigh.

"I should have known you were eavesdropping." He muttered to himself.

"So what? How were you able to catch him? But… if he's that Demigod then the story said that he was betrayed by his brother and lover. Where do you both come in?" Aurora began as she glanced between her mother and father.

"Xavier rules over all creatures including us. We didn't have a problem with his ruling so we never really supported his brother when he wanted to take the Throne from Xavier but because of how desperate we were, we connived with his brother and his lover to bring him down. It wasn't easy, we had to devise a weapon that could weaken Xavier and make him unable to use his powers and he couldn't pull out the weapon himself because the weapon could only be pulled out by another immortal being. After we won against him, we were ordered to keep him with us and for the past seventeen years, his blood has been the only thing that keeps you alive" Aurora didn't know how to react. Her mind was racing at a thousand miles per hour.

"No wonder he wants you both dead, you destroyed his life then trapped him in a small cave because of your personal issues." Roseline and Nikolas frowned. They had expected a reaction from her but not like this. Why was she thinking about that demigod?

"He wasn't a good person, Aurora. He killed whoever he wanted, whenever he wanted and most of the time it was out of fun. He made everyone shudder with fear just by walking past them, he deserved what he got." Aurora glared at her father as soon as he said that.

"Do you know how many people or wolves fear you when you walk past them? He was a king ruling over thousands of creatures, did you expect him to be King and still be approachable?" Roseline glanced at Nikolas, clearly confused by the situation.

"We… we did it for you, why are you siding with him?" Roseline questioned.

"That's exactly why I'm siding with him! You went against a demi-god, an immortal just for me to be in the stupid world that treats me like trash. You should have just let me die because you were wrong, mother, I'm not special! I'm just a dead child that you both brought back to life!" Roseline immediately hugged Aurora as they both cried.

"You're special, My love. Don't say things like that. Everything we did is for you, I couldn't lose you that way." Aurora shook her head while tears ran down her face.

"So you decided to make enemies with a demi-god? He's powerful and he wants to kill both of you!" Nikolas sat down on the bed and caressed her hair.

"He can't kill us, as long as that stake is in him, he can't kill us." Aurora shook her head.

"The right thing to do is to beg for mercy and let him go." Roseline pulled away from her then they both stared at her with wide eyes.

"You just said he wanted us dead," Nikolas uttered with furrowed eyebrows.

"Yes, but if you beg him for mercy and free him, he should let you go," Nikolas shook his head.

"He never forgives Aurora and he doesn't have a heart. He'll kill us the minute that stake is pulled. Plus, there's no other immortal in the world so I doubt that stake is ever going to get pulled out but since you're so angered by the way we treat him then we'll be nicer next time." Aurora shook her head then laid back on her bed and covered her body with the blanket.

"You put our whole pack in danger because of what you did and for what? This stupid life that I don't even want? He'll get freed someday and the minute he does, we are all dead." She didn't know why she was so affected by this. She could understand her parents to an extent but she could also understand Xavier's anger.

He helped them save their daughter and all they did was keep him inside a cave for seventeen years. She needed to fix things, she needed to speak with him again….
