Julia stared at Madeline from head to toe and scoffed, "You are so naive, Madeline Rose."

"Naive?"

"Mhm." Julia nodded. "You don't understand how gossip works, do you? It's strange because I thought you'd be smarter than this."

"Please, Julia. I don't mind being trash-talked by you regularly since I have a lot of enemies. But I'm under a lot of pressure right now," Madeline said as she grabbed her phone, ready to call Lance.

But Julia snatched the phone to stop her before Madeline pressed the call button. 

"Hey! Give it back!" Madeline yelled. 

Julia pocketed Madeline's phone and said, "If you want to save yourself, you should listen to me first. Don't act rashly by calling Lance, who is just as rash as you are."

Madeline stared back at Julia with a mix of panic and frustration. She heard from the gossip flying around today that Julia and Lance had a fling, but it wasn't serious, and she didn't seem to cling to him.
