1 Prologue

The house was so quiet you could hear a pin drop and the heavy silence weighed too much on her shoulders to ignore. She sat in the piano stool without playing because of the many thoughts in her head. The piano was one of the only things that could always comfort her but today nothing could.

She couldn't believe this was happening to her, she's lost everything in a few hours and now she was all alone with her thoughts.

The funeral was a few hours ago and now she was in the quiet house waiting for the lawyer. There was a service at the funeral because her family believed in god even though she didn't, and now she was grateful they did just for the possibility that they could be watching her, that made her feel less lonely.

The rain was pouring outside and the day was as dark as her mood and she was tired after two nights of no sleep, she could barely keep her eyes open but she made the effort because she knew for sure if she closed them for a minute she would get the everlasting nightmares about her family's murder.

She was startled when the doorbell sounded and she moved to open it like a ghost in someone else's body, she wasn't surprised to see the family lawyer and she knew she had a long afternoon ahead of her. Birdie wasn't in the mood for anything, she just wanted to be alone and cry but she had to go through this to get everything sorted.

She greeted her with the best smile she could which was a tight little smile that didn't reach her eyes "Come in Marga" she nearly whispered, she didn't have the energy to talk anymore while the lawyer, Marga, started giving her condolences "Hey Birdie I'm so sorry no one saw it coming..." she continued but Birdie wasn't listening she was too lost in thought.

When they arrived to the empty living room they sat in different sides of the table and Marga went on full lawyer mode "Alright Birdie so your parents had their wills redacted but since your siblings were both adults too but they didnt have their wills done so all their possessions fall under your parents ownership" she started explaining "Now your parents left everything they owned to their direct family which is you and there's a portion of it which is arranged to go to your schooling already in a bank account that you can't touch as one of their wishes was that you finished your education" Birdie was starting to get teary eyed because of all of this talk about her family, she tried to compose herself again and tried to answer as bravely as posible "And the house?" she almost succeeded but her voice cracked a little in the end "Well the house is already paid for and because you're an adult now even if it's just for a few days it's under your name" Birdie found herself trying to control her tears again, her birthday was just a week ago and they all celebrated her eighteen years in the house that was so coulourful before. They continued the talk until they came across a letter from her father and his last words. Birdie started reading "Little bird if you're reading this then the worst has happened and either I'm gone or me and your mum or even your siblings too, please forgive me since I'm pretty sure if I'm gone it's my own fault, in my line of business it's impossible not to make enemies. Now you may wonder why would an engineer have problems with other people, well, I wasn't an engineer and I'm sorry I hid it from you but it was of crucial importance that I did, now you'll be shocked but I was a field agent of the WSIA ( World's Secret Intelligence Agency) which protects secrets from governments all over the world, other agencies are under us like de NSA, the CNI, the MI6 the KGB and many more, now I know this is big news and with all the emotions you must be feeling right now it may be all too much but you have to focus for a minute. This is not the advice a father should give to his daughter but I think you'd rather fight than ran so I'm gonna tell you to start training and prepare for the worse. Under the staircase there's a vault, there is a hidden button that opens the fake floor, there are stairs that go to some kind of basement if you want to call it that but I call it the training room. Now there's an AI that the moment you step in the room will recognize you and will help you with your training, I made it myself and I know you're good with computers so you can upgrade it and all. I'm sorry for everything you're gonna have to go through, and that it's possibly my fault. I have one last thing to ask, if the WSIA asks you to join don't do it unless it's totally necessary and an emergency, our lawyer Marga Gonzalez is a close friend and ex agent with me, she knows everything so go ask for help to her if you need it. I love you little bird always remember that." She was in tears after she read it and didn't have any words left. Marga left after they talked for a while and when she was left alone again she had a new determination to fulfill his father's last wish and so she started training and preparing.
