Chapter 22: What about Diddy Franklin?

"Concetta, please come forward"

"Yes, Alpha"

"For going after a pack member of lesser strength and rank, you shall run twenty lapses in the morning and you will apologize to the whole white oak high during assembly for forgetting that the strength of a wolf is in her pack"

"Daddy!" Connie yelled at him.

"Miss Blackwood!" The Alpha looked at her sternly.

"Sorry, I mean Alpha Zero. Fine, I will take the stupid punishment but leave Conrad out of it. He didn't do anything"

"Go on, Connie...have a seat. You too, Conrad"

The hours went by seamlessly until it was two hours later and Conrad was walking out with his sister and Alpha Zero was picking up the documents on the table.

Defiance knew she had to say her mind or it would weigh on her for the rest of the evening.

"Alpha, may I speak freely"

"Of course, Madeline" The Alpha didn't stop picking up his documents.

"With all due respect, sire, you weren't fair to Conrad earlier. What his sister tried to do to me wasn't his fault?"

The Alpha looked up for the first time and stared at the girl questioning his parenting skills. Someone he could snap into two without effort if he chooses to.

"Are you questioning my parenting skills, wolf?"

"I am. My father would never use his Alpha silver iris on me. You frightened him and that's not okay" Defiance told him.

"Your father is an omega, he doesn't have it"

It dawned on Defiance she was talking about her former life.

"The point is if he did, he wouldn't use it on me" Defiance became sad "Where I come from, my father is who I ran to when I am frightened. He doesn't do the frightening"

Alpha Zero marveled at her bravery... stupidity but still brave.

"Do you by any chance like Conrad?" Alpha Zero wanted to understand the sudden urge to jump to Conrad's aid.

"No. I think your children are awful creatures" Defiance turned to leave when she stopped.

"Am I going to get in trouble for speaking my mind?"

"No, Madeline. Stay out of trouble"

Conrad made sure to get out of the way to avoid Defiance as she walked out. He heard everything she told his father.

How could an omega stand up to his father when he couldn't? It infuriated him more than he liked to admit.

"Conrad, are you coming?" Connie's voice made him walk away.

**

Conrad stared at the trees behind his house. It wasn't the packhouse. It was his father's private home near a river and a forest. He and Connie mostly stayed there when his father had meetings in the packhouse or they all wanted to make an attempt at trying to be a family.

It doesn't always work. Just like it wasn't working now. Right now his father was holed up in his office going through some documents, Connie was probably stalking some celebrity online and he, for some reason, couldn't stop thinking about Diddy Franklin.

It puzzled Conrad more than he let on. He didn't understand why all of a sudden every waking thought was about a girl he could barely stand. A girl below his rank.

It didn't make any sense to him.

Conrad imagined her lips several times. He imagined he was running his finger down her lips, he blinked twice when his mind started to wander to other part of her basic body.

"Are you alright?"

Connie's voice jolted him to reality.

"I am perfect. I will be all healed up by tomorrow. You don't have to worry about me"

Conrad watched as she sat down very close to him. She looked worried and she was holding the tickets she got from their father's car.

"What is bothering you?" Conrad asked her.

"I just overheard Dad talking to someone over the phone. I am sure he doesn't even remember he was supposed to take us to a game when he agreed to a meeting with this voice over the phone" Connie folded the tickets and threw it out.

Conrad stood up and picked them up. He straightened the tickets and pointed them back to Connie.

"He is coming to that game with you. I will make sure of it"

Connie nodded and took back the ticket. She knew Conrad always kept his promises. He went back to sitting beside her while she placed her head on his shoulder.

"Which girl at school are you thinking about screwing now?"

"Concetta!"

"What?! It's the truth. You always have that tiny frown above your eyebrow when you are trying to figure something out" Connie told him.

"You know I am capable of thinking about other things you know"

There was no way in hell he was admitting to his sister that he couldn't get Coma girl out of his head. She wouldn't understand just like Conrad was finding it difficult to understand too except there was something about Diddy Franklin. Something he intends to find out.
