Chapter 5: The feeling of fear

Chloe felt herself slowly beginning to trust him again. They started to spend more time together, and as they did, the old feelings started to re-emerge.

It wasn't long before they were back to being a couple again. Liam treated her with love and respect, and Chloe felt like things were finally looking up.

But just as she was starting to feel comfortable again, Liam received a phone call. His face turned pale, and he immediately left without any explanation.

Chloe's apprehension returned with a vengeance. What could have made Liam act this way? She was left to contemplate until she decided to follow him.

And what she found was a nightmare that she could never have imagined.

Chloe followed Liam through the busy streets of the city. She was struggling to keep up with him as he darted in and out of crowds of people. His movements were quick and calculated, as if he knew exactly where he was going.

Chloe's heart was pounding in her chest as she tried to keep up with him. She couldn't help but feel as if she was in danger, but she didn't know how to protect herself.

Finally, Liam came to a stop at a dark alleyway. Chloe hesitated as he motioned for her to follow him, but she couldn't ignore her curiosity. She followed him into the alley and gasped as she saw what was waiting for her.

A group of men were standing around a woman who was tied up and gagged, her eyes pleading for help. Liam was among them, and he turned to face Chloe with an evil grin on his face.

"You were never supposed to see this," he said, pulling out a knife from his pocket. "But it looks like you're going to have to join the party."

Chloe screamed and tried to run, but Liam was too quick for her. He grabbed her by the arm and dragged her over to where the woman was. He held the knife to her throat and forced her to watch as he slit the woman's throat.

Chloe was shaking as Liam pulled her close and whispered in her ear, "YOU'RE NEXT."

"Chloe woke up in a cold sweat, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't believe the nightmare she had just experienced. She looked around her room, trying to calm herself down.

But her nerves were still on edge as she heard a noise outside her window. She cautiously got out of bed and peeked through the blinds. To her horror, she saw Liam standing outside, staring up at her with a sinister smile on his face.

Chloe immediately called the police and reported Liam's stalking and threatening behavior. She shuddered as she remembered the nightmare and couldn't shake off the feeling that Liam was capable of doing something horrific like that in real life.

She took matters into her own hands and hired a private investigator to help her find out more about Liam's background. What she found out made her blood run cold.

Liam had a long history of violent behavior, including assault and murder. He had been in and out of prison for years, and each time he was released he ended up back on the streets, terrorizing innocent people.

Chloe knew that she had to be careful and do whatever it took to stay safe. She installed security cameras, carried mace with her at all times, and changed her daily routine so that she wouldn't be predictable.

"Chloe, please listen to me," he said. "I know that I've done some terrible things, but I promise you that I never meant to hurt you I've been going through some tough times lately, and I've made some bad decisions. But I still care about you, and I want to make things right."

Chloe was hesitant at first, but she could hear the sincerity in Liam's voice. She agreed to meet him in a public place, and to her surprise, he showed up with tears in his eyes.

He apologized for his behavior and promised to leave her alone for good. Chloe wasn't sure if she could trust him, but she decided to give him a chance.
