Tell me, little human, Do you like pain?

"Gosh this weather just keeps getting bade and here I thought when I get released I'll have a nice hot sunny day," Emiko pouted grabbing Vanitas' sleeve.

"Vani… Vani… Vanitas! You're looking at Emiko as if you're going to swallow her whole," Emiko giggled and Vanitas just kept glancing at me.

He suddenly spoke, his voice lifeless and assertive, "How is it possible that a human-like you managed to save Emiko?"

He asked a question that the other three had been waiting to ask.

This boy was testing me. This little demon thought he could get the upper hand.

"Why is not possible? Humans can do anything they set their minds to. I wanted to save Emiko and she is alive and well is she not?" I glared at him.

Vanitas tilted his head and grabbed my wrist, pulling me up to him from the bed. He wanted to use his power on me to see what I truly was.

My essence, scent, and blood were different compared to caelestian. It's been a while since a demon tried something. But unfortunately, I was surrounded by other caelestians and a human so I couldn't demonstrate my power to them.

I used my human strength to twist my arm and grabbed his hand to twist it behind him. He raised an eyebrow at my choice of combat; after all, the moves I was using were self-defense. Vanitas never used his caelestian strength against me. Instead, it felt like a twisted dance.

A twisted game as he tried to show his skills through combat to test me, to see if I could fight, and to also check if I was a caelestian. I would never give him the chance to check.

"That's enough Vanitas!" I could hear Strider growl.

When I had spun around with his arm, I twisted it in his back. I could hear Vanitas chuckle lowly. With his right leg, he kicked me, shoving my leg making me lose my balance. In the process, he grabbed my body and shoved me against the wall. I hit my back full force.

I grunted from the pain, pretending to feel weak. This kind of move was child's play compared with what I had been through by the crimson six and in the labs. His arm rested under my neck, while his other hand held both my wrists above my head.

He lowered his face near my head, he whispered, "Tell me, little human, Do you like pain?"

Was he trying to flirt with me?

I swear nowadays boys are trying to use violence to get inside my pants.

"Oh, I do like a pain but not as much as I like giving them," I whispered as I felt his breath fan my face. I slyly smiled and kneaded him in the balls very hard. He groaned and released my wrists, I took that has my chance and shoved him away.

"Don't underestimate humans, little caelestian," I said the last part loud enough for the other two to hear.

Emiko giggled, "Damn cuz, she got you damn good."

Vanitas immediately recovered, "Okay then I shall believe you for now little human." His eyes had changed color. The purple glow it had, had faded to a light shade of red mixed with gold.

In the blink of an eye, Strider had shoved Vanitas against the wall, "Are you crazy?! Did you forget where we are?" He growled at him.

Vanitas remained calm, "Well if she got hurt then it meant she's human and she could get treated here. But she defended herself well."

"Calm down Strider, Vanitas is right in a way but what he did was wrong," Shane replied while staring out the window.

But I knew why Strider was behaving like that… after all… he had to watch his mate almost get beaten up.

"Strider… I am perfectly fine… Vanitas only did that to check if I was capable enough and I proved myself, right?" I asked him as Strider calmed down from my voice and moved away from him.

Vanitas on the other hand was unhappy with this development.

"Seeing as how you've made a new friend, why don't you bring 'Willow' to the festival," Vanitas told Emiko.

Emiko squealed and grabbed me and Vanitas, pulling both of us into an embrace. I felt uncomfortable as his body was pressed up against my own.

"That's a wonderful idea Vani… please say you'll come, Willow… It will be my way of thanking you." Emiko whispered to me.

So how could I say no to that when she was looking at me with those glassy eyes?

"You don't have to make it up to me though…" I softly replied.

"The festival happens once a year in my home town. And also Vanitas and his band will be playing there. It will be so much fun."

She spoke as if I would come just because Vanitas would be there.

I sighed, "I'll come because you asked me too… I do need a break from campus anyway."

Emiko gasped and squeezed my body tightly in the embrace. Vanitas didn't seem to mind that I was against him while he glanced at me. On the contrary, his eye color had changed back to purple, glowing brightly.

Somehow his eye color reminded me of Abaddon.

I grimaced, for how could this demon remind me of that demon?!

"As much as I love your bear hugs Emiko, but I do need to leave to check on the others," Vanitas told her and she looked up at him and sighed with a pout.

"Okay fine but when I get out I expect the six of you to each buy me a cake or a present."

Vanitas ruffled Emiko's hair, "We will give you whatever you want."

That gleam in his eyes and that smile…

Now I knew why Vanitas reminded me of Abaddon.

The kind nature he displayed to the children. Because no matter how evil of a person Abaddon was… the kindness he showed to the other five was nothing compared to the wickedness in his heart.
