25 CHAPTER 25

Due to my improved physique, I didn't feel anything while taking that shot. In fact, the bullet just bounced off my forehead all superman style.

As I was halfway to the home, I finally heard police sirens but it didn't bother me so I continued on my way.

The next few days went by without incident.  Yoo Jinho kept calling me daily to check my status.

-"Hyungnim! It's me, Yoo Jinho."

"Make it short," I said as I was trying to create some spells.

-"Yes, Hyungnim."

The young man told me that he was diligently working on getting a team together.  The raiding party would be completed shortly, so he repeatedly asked me to wait just a little longer.

'He must be scared that I might back out. So he makes sure to call me daily for his own shake.

But there was no way that I would wait idly while Yoo Jinho completed his task.  So today, like the past few days, I went on the Hunter website. He had continuously checked the job boards, but as expected, there were no private Raids that were accepting an E-rank Hunter.  My run-in with Hwang Dongseok was lucky.

'Thankfully, I was able to earn some money, level up, and even get a new skill.'

While not finding jobs was a bummer, it didn't bother me very much as I knew I was already ahead of time as I already had a class quest and my stat was much stronger than the og story during. And I also had many options.

So the days I spent were either trying to create spells and skills. So I could gain more options or prepare for the second big event of my life.

I already traveled to the mountain forest outside of the city. In that forest, I found a deep cave hidden from normal eyes under a huge mountain that was filled with Dragon Veins and Let Lines.

I was clearly aware of the importance of Dragon Vein. Cultivating in Spiritual Vein was triple even quadruple faster than cultivating outside. While Dragon Vein was far superior to Spiritual Vein, it could quadruple the speed.

One could imagine that Dragon Vein played a great role in developing internal energies and becoming a dragon. However, most worlds where these could be found are always occupied by various beast kings. But nothing was there.

Again this was something I wasn't aware of.

It was one of the strongest resources. And as soon as I found it I was preparing to absorb it. If Dragon Vein was taken up by me, Based on power I could become a fatal threat!

And as soon as I knew a greater treasure was just waiting there I started to prepare for the ritual.

I rack my brain trying to find any information on Cultivation, as I hardly read Cultivation nobles. And what I read were just some theories and half-ass fanfictions on Cultivation that's how I was aware of Dragon Veins.

And after I didn't find much I looked into this world after all there wasn't much change besides monsters and hunters.

But after wasting many hours of many days in front of my computer I didn't find much that could be useful.

So now I was going blindly towards it. Anything could happen.

I also found one of the greatest flaws in me.

Magic Circuits.

I realized that if I don't want to completely rely on the system I need Magic Circuits. And my body lacks any Magic Circuits didn't do me any favour.

Magic Circuits is a pseudo-nervous system that spreads itself through the human body and what qualifies a person to be a Magus.

They have two basic functions; one is to convert Life Force into Magical Energy and another is to allow their owner to access Greater Magic Formulae, that is, Thaumaturgical Foundations.

They also are paths that connect the material world to the astral plane. To perform Mysteries, a Magus sends a command and Magical Energy to a Thaumaturgical Foundation through his Magic Circuits and activates one of the Magic Formulae included in the Foundation as if someone switched a computer on and sent it commands to run a computer program.

They are one of the most important factors of being a mage. And if I gained in good numbers it would make me much more proficient in magic and mana.

Decreasing my mana consumption by a very good amount and casting and creating new spells pretty easily.

And these are the only surfaces of the iceberg.

But I also knew I can't integrate them. Unless I am in an, especially in the multiverse of Type-Moon…

Now on a surface level magic circuits work like a nervous system the same way our nerves tell us to feel magic circuits provide us with the

ability to cast our spells once they've been filled up with magical energy one of the biggest and most important things to note is that these circuits do not reside on the physical plane.

The circuitry that we see on their bodies is just

a physical expression to let the viewer know

that they're putting their mage craft to use instead they are in fact attached directly to the master soul so if you mess these up you got a lot more to worry about other than just not being able to use magic.

We saw a great example of this in the fourth holy grail war kintsugi had a mystic code that was capable of completely annihilating magic circuits since Kayneth El-Melloi was using his mage craft to defend himself from Kirisugu's bullet all of this man's circus ended up being

destroyed and he turned this man into a muffin

straight handicapped action this is the type of extreme situation that you're talking about

when you're dealing with these circuits so how do you get these circuits if I had to compare it to something it would be the same way that you got your height PP size you get what you get and if you don't like it.

sucks to be your circuits work the same way you're born with what you're born with

and if you're not born with them then that's too bad this is why mages are so diligent in finding the right spouse because it directly influences how many circuits the child is gonna come out with you don't want your child coming out

looking like a buster do you this is why older families are usually stronger because they've been passing down their circus from generation to generation.

I mean you've seen it for yourself this is why you have people like Kayneth swinging his dick all over the place because he knew that his ancestors had already done all the work all he had to do was show up waver you have someone like waver and churros who didn't have these things given to them and really had to grind it out the mud and still turned out a force to be reckoned with.

okay waver does still kind of suck at being a mage but you get what I mean your line also

influences the grade of the circus right 20 magic circus for ren is not 20 magic circuits

for Shiro because albeit the Muramasa situation wren comes from a prestigious line

now it wouldn't be the type-moon if we weren't allowed to bend the rules a little bit so there are rare cases kirei for example has magic circuits that came directly from god.

As a result of his father's constant worship

his circus isn't even of his own bloodline

so to be completely honest we don't know

what this man is capable of and after seeing what he did to that poor tree.

You have circumstances like wavers student seven who not only has the magic circus that

he's born with but he also has artificial circuits that are made from his blood vessels and his nerves.

So the moral of the story is I can't have them unless I go to Type-Moon and engrave my soul with the magic circus.

So no matter how much I try nothing could be done here.

…..

Can't get into a private Raid, no calls from the Association, and no keys from daily quests. After the fourth day, I stopped getting hidden quests as well.  No matter how much I run and do push-ups, the hidden quest window never appears after the 4th day.

I hated wasting time like this.

But doing magic was seems like a dream or hallucination for me. Too convenient and attractive is this awakening not to be false.

Well, you know to hell with all this whether it's real or not I'm alive and kicking which is more than I deserve. All my previous life can go to hell, the present is now I will not cry like a bitch for something as inevitable as changing my situation.

Killing was now part of life and discriminating just to become some of them speak the same language as me wouldn't be fair.

I don't have any plans to become a hero or a monster. I like to live how I want and whatever ever someone who calls me a hero or a monster won't be affecting my way of living.

growl…

My stomach growled in protest, preventing my thoughts from getting out of control. Well, you can't think with an empty stoma, right?

Well, I think it's time to eat. My thought was cut off as I saw two couples walking by. Those two were getting too romantic. really romantic.

Looking at them I really felt angry. As here I was still a virgin standing in front of couples and deep down cursing.

Since I came to this world I am very busy with all the grinding and finding. And now looking at them I was reminded of how there were no bitches for a miserly mare E-rank.

So I had registered myself as an S rank as soon as I could and the hunters association only counted mana as your primary stat, then I am sure I had enough to be called A-rank. Especially after I started to absorb magic crystals and cores.

"Stat."

Stat,

HP: 3955/3955 R: 1.3%(43.96) per Minute

MP: 3580/3580 R: 13.07%(296.296) per minute

Fatigue: 0

Stats

Strength: 82

Constitution: 70

Agility: 93

Intelligence: 160

Sense: 90

(Available stat points: 0)

Mm, not bad not bad at all, especially if we account for my own level my average stats are around a hundred...

My intelligence and agility stat is even higher than my strength which I put the most points to.

This also reminds me about how the system doesn't give anything special after reaching a milestone. Unlike most game systems like when your strength reaches 100, it gives pearls such as Iron Skin or Steel bones.

So either didn't have this feature which is highly unlikely because the system had given me things that weren't in the story...

So the next best possibility is that the system didn't think that these are any big milestones.

Anyway soon I will know the reason as my intelligence will be reaching 200 and I think it's pretty big.

So I will reexamine as soon as I go through the class quest which would give me the flexibility

And after I was done with the ritual, my Mana stat would take a long jump assuring me that I'll be an S-rank.

'But for now, let's eat and think about women later!'

I stepped away from the window and closed the browser of the job boards and went over to the kitchen.

 Opening the fridge I saw.

The fridge was empty.

"…"

I had been distracted by so many things lately and had forgotten to go shopping.

'Guess I'll go do that today.'

I closed the fridge with a yawn.

One of the few benefits of his worn-down apartment was that it was close to a large grocery store.  I changed into something comfortable and went outside. It took him 10 minutes of walking to reach the store.

The large interior of the store greeted me as I walked in.  Since there was no sale going on, there were fewer people around than usual.  I grabbed a basket and started walking down the aisles. Mostly living alone I knew about grocery shopping and it was a routine experience for me.

There are still some difficulties that I am slowly getting used to as this is an entirely different country and I don't have too much knowledge of its culture.

It's a good thing that in my previous life I had learned Korean and Japanese just for the anime, manga, and webtoons. So with English, I am well versed in three languages.

But still, it's an entirely different culture.

'Nothing's really catching my eyes.'

I stared at the ingredients while thinking about dinner.

"Young man, is your body feeling better?"

I turned around towards the friendly voice.

'Who?'

Due to my heightened sense stat, I knew that there was another Hunter nearby, but since the grocery store was a place where a lot of people, including Hunters, would be shopping, I did not pay any mind to it.  I did not expect Hunter to actually speak to me, but it was someone that I knew.

"Song- Ahjussi?"

I greeted him with a question mark as I really didn't remember his name but I had just a vague idea of it... And now If I remember I am supposed to meet him somewhere. As I said before I don't remember every detail that happened in the story...

'Song-ssi Ahjussi, what was his name again aa yes, Song Chiyeol, these names are so hard to remember..'

He looked at me with a mix of surprise and happiness.

"I had heard that you were alright, but looking at you now, I can't believe it."

Song Chiyeol was awed by just how fast I had recovered.  Song Chiyeol continued,

"I should've gone to see you myself, but those bastards at the Association, I don't know what they were thinking, put a moratorium on the incident, and I had no way of reaching you. I believe Ms. Juhee was also dying to hear about you."

"Juhee-SSI?"

'I do remember her name and why well simple titties..' and I am sure this reason was enough for me to remember even the name of eldritch Lovecraft horrors. And I am sure many of my fellow weebs will agree with me.

"Yep. She said she would retire, but still went to last week's Raid to catch a glimpse of you."

"Last week…?"

Hearing Song-ssi Ahjussi's explanation, I learned that the day I went on a Raid with Hwang Dongseok's team was also the day an Association Raid had taken place.

'No wonder the Association's been quiet.'

It wasn't that they weren't contacting me, but rather, I had missed them on that one day.  A small mystery cleared up for me.

Song Chiyeol continued to observe my figure with an amazed look.

Song Chiyeol's gaze fell on my lower half.  His eyes widened.

"Young man… is your leg…?"

I had expected the inquiry and replied calmly,

"It was just there when I woke up. I don't know what happened."

I answered bluntly. Song Chiyeol nodded.  Since the day the first Gate appeared 10 years ago, many incredible things had happened in the world.  One of them was the phenomenon of Awakened Beings, now called Hunters. Among the S-rank Healer-class Hunters, some could completely restore the body of a teammate that had their bodies ripped apart and some special few could even revive a person who was on death's door... As long as the victim had a shred of life left in them, they could be made whole. So it wasn't crazy to think that some high-ranking Healer had restored my leg.

"It wouldn't have been right for such a young person to become a cripple. Thank goodness for that."

Song Chiyeol sighed in relief.  My eyes moved over to the old man's left arm.  The sleeve that covered it was clearly empty. Song Chiyeol laughed at his gaze and rubbed his left shoulder.

"Don't worry about this. It's normal for a Hunter my age to get into an accident in a Raid. I was just lucky that I got this far before having one."

Song Chiyeol spoke to put my mind at ease, but his words did not reach the onlookers.

"Oh my, that man…"

"How terrible, it must've been from a magic beast."

The people passing by whispered to each other about the man's missing arm.  Some children stopped and blatantly stared.

"Should we move to somewhere quieter?"

There were too many people walking by.  Feeling uncomfortable from their gazes, Song Chiyeol nodded in agreement.  There were still a few things he wanted to say to me.

"Yes, that would be good."

The two os us tried to find a small corner to continue their conversation.  While walking, Song Chiyeol noticed something,

'Sung-ssi's footsteps…'

My footsteps were incredibly light.  Even standing right next to me, Song Chiyeol had difficulty detecting my presence.  How could this be? The veteran Hunter felt that if he and I fought at this moment, he could not even touch me.  Even if he was a C-ranker, while I was an E-ranker.

...

*Pov switch*

Song Chiyeol shook his head.  None of that mattered at the moment.  There was something he wanted to say to Sung-ssi.  No, it was something that had to be said. Having found a suitable place, Song Chiyeol stopped and Jinwoo followed suit.  Turning around to face him, Song Chiyeol bowed his head to Jinwoo before the young man could stop him.

"Sung-ssi. I have to thank you."

"Eleven people died because of me. Thanks to you, six of us were able to live. As my responsibility was the heaviest in that place, I thank you on behalf of everyone else."

Every word he spoke was out of his heart.  Even Jinwoo was able to feel the man's sincerity.  It was an unexpected situation, but Jinwoo did not feel bad.  Rather, he felt a twinge of pride.

"Ahjussi, please raise your head."

At Jinwoo's words, Song Chiyeol raised his head.  Just then, his phone rang. The old man apologized and turned away to pick it up.

'Here it is my chance to get sealth' thought Jin-woo.

"Got it. I'll be right there."

Ending the call, Song Chiyeol's face was hardened.  He turned to address Jinwoo,

"I have to go somewhere now."

The elder spoke as if he had a private business to take care of, but Jinwoo had already heard the entire conversation through his ears.  Thanks to his raised sense stat, his naturally good hearing was improved even more so. The phone call just now was from the Association, which was notifying Song Chiyeol of a Gate that had appeared.  And he knew this was his chance, the old man hid this information and was trying to walk away, but Jinwoo had no intention of letting the skill slip from his hands at any cost.

"It was the Association, right?"

"You… you heard all that?"

The Association will call all of its affiliated Hunters in an area in the event of a Raid.  If Song Chiyeol was contacted, surely Jinwoo would've been too, if he had his phone. This was the call that Jinwoo had been waiting for all this time.

"I'll go too."

"Young man…"

Song Chiyeol's eyes looking at Jinwoo were quickly filled with defeat.

The two men arrived at the appointed location.  Because the Gate had appeared in a residential area, the police were already around, cordoning off the area.  However, there was little need, as there were no noisy civilians watching. The Gates that the Association ended up taking care of were those on the verge of Dungeon Break, so the people stayed away in case of danger.  Besides, it wasn't as if they could watch the Hunters battle in the Dungeon anyways. Every now and then, a curious child might approach with mischief, but they would be chased away by the police.

Jinwoo and Song Chiyeol got out of the taxi and were stopped by the police.

"Could you please show me your identification?"
