Chapter 68: Charybdis
"It was magically sealed in the distant past. I cannot imagine the seal would come undone without any reason."
"Indeed, my sister Treyni is busy holding it back, but she will not last very long." A dryad I didn't recognize said.
I secretly listened to the conversations, with Milim being the only one that noticed my presence. I have mastered the ability to stand so incredibly still that I become invisible to the weak eye.
Some time passed since I learned that this was actually my third life. I tried to find anything about the spell I could have used but found nothing. Reincarnating is one thing, but sending one's soul across space and time is another.
"I've heard that no magic could affect it."
"Legends say it can control monsters from another world."
They started talking while Rimuru looked confused, so I decided to reveal myself, "I heard that the meat from the monster it summons is delicious." I said, and everyone except for Milim got on guard hearing a new voice.
Rimuru, who was in Milim's arms and closest to me, jumped in fright, "S-Son... I mean, Cale, since when were you here?" He asked.
"Huh?" I pretended to be confused, "I've been here since the beginning. I was standing so incredibly still that I became invisible."
"UMU, Cale has been here since the beginning," Milim confirmed.
"Emmm..." I could see Rimuru's slime from sweating, "So why are you here?" He asked cautiously.
"I heard Charybdis was in town, and I wanted to get some Megalodons."
Rimuru seeing an opportunity, asked, "Megalodons are those the monster it summons?"
I smiled, "Yup, they are pretty weak flying shark monsters, and from what I've heard, they taste pretty good."
"Is there anything else you could tell us about it?" Rimuru asked.
At this moment, he should have the basic information about Charybdis from [Great Sage] and would easily understand more after seeing it in person, so I didn't see a problem telling them everything I knew about it.
"Born from a cloud of Veldora's Magicules, and could be called Veldora's child. It was previously sealed by the Hero somewhere in the Jura Forest a few centuries ago. The only thing that stops it from being classified as a Disaster Class is the inability of rational thought." I looked around and saw everyone listening to me, so I continued, "It also has a few skills like [Gravity Manipulation], [Magic Jamming], [Magic Sense], [Ultraspeed Regeneration], [Pain Nullification], [Physical Attack Resistance], and [Paralysis Resistance]. It also can shoot a laser-beam from its eye and shoot its scales."
I already saw Rimuru thinking of a plan for how to deal with it now that he knew what it was capable of.
"Don't worry, Rimuru! That fish may be big, but it is still just a fish for the both of us!" Milim said.
"Cale, Milim!" Rimuru said with a smile like all his problems were resolved.
Unfortunately for him, Shion shattered all his hopes in an instant: "We cannot allow you to do that, Lord Cale and Lady Milim. This is our town and our problem."
"That's right. We can't take advantage of you to have you solve all of our problems for us. When Lord Rimuru is completely at a loss, and we have no other option, only then would we humbly wish for your help in the matter." Shuna said, and I looked at Rimuru, who had all his hopes shattered at this point.
"That's right. Have some faith in me!" He said while internally he was crying.

"Hey, they are actually doing some damage," I said while munching on popcorn. During my travels over the years, I found a vegetable that closely resembled corn, so I made popcorn.
Milim, who was eating popcorn under the shade of a tree observing the fight, nodded, "But I want to fight it."
As the fight continued as they took out all the Megalodons, Charybdis decided to shoot its scales in a storm of blades towards them.
Rimuru decided to use his new skill, the evolved form of [Predator] he got after fusing it with the Orc Lords [Starved], the skill I copied during my stay here as Rimuru's son, the Unique Skill: [Gluttony].
A vortex shot out of his hand and devoured all the scales in an instant.
Seeing as the attack worked, he decided to eat Charybdis itself, but unfortunately for him, it didn't work, but the sub-skill Corrosion still had some effect on it.
Everyone attacked Charybdis, and the battle continued for ten hours. Just as Rimuru was about to retreat and consider a new plan of attack, Charybdis spoke, "HOW! DARE! YOU! MIL... MILIM!!"
I followed Milim, who quickly made her way toward Rimuru, "Ah, yes. I recognize this presence. I believe this is the Majin known as Phobio."
"Well, Charybdis doesn't have a material body and needs a host, so he must have been used as a vessel," I said, nonchalantly looking at the big but still weak monster. Milim and I could defeat it with a sneeze if we wanted, "What did you do to offend this Phobio guy?" I asked.
"Hey, Rimuru!" Milim said, flying above Rimuru.
Rimuru knew exactly what she wanted and was happy with it, "Fine, fine. I agree. This visitor is here to see you." He then used [Thought Communication] to have everyone retreat.
"I've learned how to 'Hold Back,' as you call it. Here's a good test of my lessons." Milim said, kicking Charybdis away, "Let me show you."
She charged up her Drago Buster, and as I saw the output of it, I patted Rimuru on the shoulder, "Wow, she is really holding back a lot. If it was her previously, that attack would have enough power to wipe everyone here besides myself and Milim."
"That's umm..."
I chuckled, "Don't worry, Milim likes you, and I want my mangas back, so you don't have to worry about us.
"I wasn't... Wait, you are doing this all to get manga!"
I deadpanned, "Do you know how hard it is to come across Otherworlders with the ability to create mangas? The first one called himself a mangaka and created a few for me, but he died of old age a couple of decades after."
"Ummm..."
A loud bang resounded through the area as Charybdis's body was destroyed, and a human-shaped being started plummeting towards the ground, "You should go catch him before he crashes." I said, pointing at the falling Phobio.
