[Chapter 148] War Between Beings

I lunge forward as Dreag who was catching his breath moments before holds out his palms towards me as shining metal spikes come flying towards me, coming from his hands at machine gun speeds.

'Fuck!' I think as I quickly use Absolute Shadow and swing my arm upwards, the shadows underneath me come to life as they build up into a black wall.

The metal spikes cover the wall as Dreag runs forward, the black flames and yellow light behind him fighting to keep the other at bay as they seemingly eat eachother alive.

I wait patiently as I begin to glow with a red aura, heatwaves beginning to form on my skin as I grip my scythe with a strong grip.

Just as Dreag reaches the wall, I rocket into the air, wind contrails forming behind me. I zig-zag left and right as I avoid the machine gun like fire coming from Dreag's hands.

Jack is bouncing up and down in his seat as he watches me and Dreag spar, having never seen two divine beasts actually fight up close. The Winters watch happily, enjoying the show of power from two unnatural beings. The crowd watches with their jaws dropped as some stream the fight, causing even more people to arrive at the arena as they watch the fight between us. I hear cheers and woos of kids and some adults who have chosen sides, but many just stare with awe as the sparks and shadows fly.

Dreag seems to see he has little chance of hitting me as he changes his tactics, the silver sharp spears finally stopping.

Dreag leans back before jumping into the air, launching towards me at shocking speeds. He begins to murmur at incomprehensible speeds as a bright light flashes to life behind him. Moments later, the light fades, revealing a sea of floating metal spears, their surfaces grooved with threatening lines.

'Woah! All these spears are rifled! I haven't even seen any weapons yet unless I have made it, but I rarely use bullets.' I think when suddenly, the spears launch at me, the whole silver sea flying towards me.

I immediately react as I place my hand on the ground, the shadows own my body sprouting to life. The ground suddenly is covered in shadow as an orb of darkness covers me, growing in size every moment that passes. As the spears hit the darkness, they glow with a yellow light before striking into them.

The spears cover the orb from top to bottom as they don't leave an inch of darkness seeable. Dreag speaks in a stern tone, "Surrender if your not going to use your full strength. I want you to fight!"

Dreag waits for a moment before the orb suddenly erupts, blasting away the spears as I launch at him, using his momentary surprise to attack.

But I don't think it's my sudden appearance that surprised him, it's the red glow shining through the black shadows that shocked him. I take advantage of his stunned state as I breath a jet of fire so black, nothing can be seen within. It streams from my mouth as it hits Dreag square in the chest, causing him to grunt in pain as a grimace forms on his battle hardened face.

He falls to the ground, light glowing on his chest as he inwardly complains. 'This fire is too powerful, it seemingly feeds on my own energy as it burns. And I had just gotten rid of the flames on my back, these things hurt like hell.'

I flap my wings as I watch the struggling Dreag stand. "I feel it's my turn to tell you, forfeit."

He looks up at me as he speaks, "I won't, I want you to use your full strength, no holding out on me like you are right now."

'Damn, he is eager to see his ancestors, isn't he?' I think as I look at his determined expression, the look in his eyes showing his will.

I sigh as I land, my face suddenly becoming serious under the shadows. "If you insist."

Suddenly, the room becomes heavy as some people faint, shock appearing on Dreag's face. 'This blood lust....where did he learn to use it....and how is it so intense?!'

Jack shivers as he feels this, "It always scares me when he does this, no monster would survive after they felt this because Kurayami would then kill them."

My eye gleams as I launch off of my foot, a boom echoing throughout the crowded arena, causing spectators to look in even greater awe as the ones live-streaming skyrocket in viewers. Moments later, I'm behind Dreag as I hit him in the side of the head with the back end of my scythe, causing him to fall to the floor in a single hit.

'Guess he was tired, plus the injuries. I would be vulnerable as well in his state. And the fact that I used intimidating glare.' I think as I look at the knocked out Dreag, his chest still burning with black flames. I quickly extinguish them when I suddenly feel something shift underneath my palm. I look at my hand and realize, it's green skin.

'Damn, guess I burnt him so badly it cooked his skin off.' I think as I look at his charred chest, the black suit housing a massive hole.

I throw the skin to the side as I reach under and pick Dreag up. 'He just needs a few hours of rest, then he will be good to go. He is the Divine Beast with the light element after all so these are probably small wounds compared to wait he has been through.' I think as I carry I finally look up, just to be greeted with the sight of a massive crowd.

'When did they appear?'
