18 Chapter 18 WTH is Happening!! (1)

"The gate won't close until we defeat the source - the Boss monster dwelling within."

Panic erupted as the hunters realized the danger wasn't over.

"Go inside? Are you mad?" one cried. Others questioned Azaroth doubtfully.

"The boss will be far stronger than these spiders. We'd be signing our deaths!"

At this moment, he felt like Homelander.

These bunch of nobodies were doubting him? He can easily kill the Boss all by himself, he just wanted some spectators to see him do that and then tell the media about it..

Looking at those ungrateful fucks he had a sudden idea,

Should I just crisp them to death...

But he soon crushed that idea, 

A man should not let his emotions cloud their judgment.

While most of the hunters were looking at him like what he had suggested was nothing but horse shit, some hunters were looking at him with stars in their eyes, recalling his power and bravery that saved them.

A scared-looking small girl, stepped forward, she had come here to play some games in the arcade, but when she was heading back, a large spider monster attacked her,

She quickly crouched in fear and placed her hands on her eyes waiting for the attack to come.

But then she suddenly felt an increase in temperature in her surroundings, as she opened her eyes, she saw the same terrifying monster was slowly turning into dust.

She looked at her savior, who was snapping his hands and commanding the cool flames, naturally, she wanted to know the name of her savior.

"M..Mr. what is your name..?"

'Ah!' Azaroth looked at her and answered with a gentle smile, "Azaroth, Azaroth Morningstar"

"T..Thankyou for saving me A..Azaroth Oppa.." She said with a flushed expression.

A female hunter, Yoo Jin, also stepped forward. "She's right. And we owe Azaroth Oppa our lives. I'll go with you inside."

Another hunter named Kim Joon joined her. "As will I. We can't leave the gate open for more attacks."

"Yes, me too, if not for him we will all be dead by now!"

"Same!"

Gradually other grateful hunters added their voices.

Azaroth took stock of their capabilities. Most were low-E-ranked and injured from the previous battle, while only a few were D-rank.

'Hmm... most of them would be dead weight'

While he wanted to have spectators, he didn't want to save the low-rank ones all the time.

'This guy looks tough, and this healer girl is pretty.'

He looked at the two D & C rankers.

"Kim Joon, Yoo Jin, come with me," he said, selecting the sturdy D-rank hunter and skilled C-rank healer. 

He very well knew that he didn't need a healer due to his regeneration but she would be the pretty face that would look good on the TV while telling the world about his prowess inside the gate, 

He just needs her to stay close to him.

The rest looked on in confusion and dismay at being excluded.

Azaroth explained gently, "The rest of you have fought bravely today. But this mission requires peak strength and skill. I cannot guarantee your safety."

Turning to the crowd, he continued, "You guys are too injured and in case something happens inside then you should protect the civilians till the Association sends High rankers!"

The grateful hunters reluctantly agreed his logic was sound.

Azaroth smiled confidently at his picked allies. "Stay close Miss Yoo Jin, I'll eliminate the boss swiftly."

As Azaroth headed for the portal, his classmates looked on in awe and confusion at his display of power. Several girls gazed at him with heart-shaped eyes, clearly swooning.

But Jin Ah rushed forward, panic written on her face. "Azaroth, please don't go in there! It's too dangerous."

Song Yi appeared beside her friend, grabbing Azaroth's arm with both hands. "C..Correct! Jin Ah is right. Y...You shouldn't risk yourself for us."

'Kyaa~ feels good' He was feeling good, it was like a videogame where the hero will go to battle and his wives would try to stop him...

Well, with his powers and physique, it was really just a game to him.

Azaroth smiled warmly at their concern. "I'll be fine, do not worry. With my skills-"

Jin Ah cut him off fiercely. "Your skills aren't infallible! You could get hurt, or worse." Her eyes glistened, betraying her fear for his safety.

'Why is she acting so affectionate towards him? What happened between them yesterday?' Song Yi was confused, 

Seeing her distress, Azaroth gently pried Song Yi's hands off.

He took Jin Ah's hands in his own, looking deeply into her eyes.

"It's ok Jin-ah, you don't have to worry, even if I die, Jin Woo will not lose his job..."

"Eh? N..no I'm not worried about—"

Jin-ah understood what he meant and quickly tried to explain.

"Now, I should go, it's not like we are good friends..." Azaroth said as he looked at the new spiders crawling from the gate,

He snapped at them, turning them to a crisp in an instant.

"But...but.." Jin-ah was feeling a train of emotions, he looked at her again,

"Heh, so let's be one when I return, ok?" He squeezed her hands reassuringly before letting go.

Jin-ah, looked at him in a daze, not getting what he meant.

With a final nod to his classmates, Azaroth led his hunters through the portal.

No sooner had Azaroth passed through than the gate began to rumble and shake violently.

When the quaking stopped, the portal had transformed.

If the previous gate resembled a D-rank one with a D-C rank Boss Monster, now it grew in size, resembling a B-rank Gate, with cracks of crimson on its blue surface, pulsating with power.

Gasps of horror arose from the crowd as they recognized the insignia - this gate was now rated at the higher B-rank level.

"Wa....what is happening!?"

"T-The gate suddenly grew!!"

"I searched at the Hunterpedia! it resembles a B gate!"

"What!!? how can this be?!"

"First it appeared out of nowhere, pored monsters, and t..then got bigger?"

"H...H...He'll be safe, r-right?"

The girls exchanged fearful glances, worrying for Azaroth facing unknown horrors far beyond initial expectations.

Some of the previous ungrateful hunters who were not supporting him scoffed in relief, "Haah, it's good that I didn't go "

"Yes! That kid was too delusional,"

"*tsk* Just by killing these, he thought he could kill the Boss."

"Well, even if he could, now it's next to impossible."

But Jin Ah whirled on them furiously. "How can you be so heartless?! Azaroth saved us all."

Her classmates chimed in with angry agreement. "If not for him, we'd all be dead! Show some respect."

Inside the Gate...

As Azaroth, Kim Joon, and Yoo Jin passed through the portal, they emerged into a nightmarish landscape.

"What the.... is this really a D-rank gate?" Asked Kim Joon, the bulky & muscular D-rank hunter in his 30's.

Kim Joon and Yoo Jin stiffened at the forbidding sight.

Before them lay a barren expanse of cracked red soil as far as the eye could see. Dark craggy mountains loomed in the distance.

The air was heavy with a sulfurous scent. Scattered all around were the entrances to deep ominous caves dotted along the cliffs.

"I-I don't think it's a simple dungeon..." Yoo Jin replied while slightly trembling at what she was seeing.

Even from a distance, they could see movement in the shadows - more spiders were pouring out in droves.

This place reeked of malice and death. They had never seen such a hellish plane before.

Only Azaroth remained unfazed, he already knew that the Boss here was most probably a B-rank boss from his knowledge Mastery.

A D-rank dungeon will not accommodate a B-rank Boss, will it?

"Stay close."

He said while walking ahead.

Azaroth turned to his allies with a confident grin. "Let the hunt begin."

 As soon as he said those words looking back, *crack-crackel* a foreboding dimensional crack rented the air behind him.

From its dark void emerged a lone ghostly pale hand, claws extended.

"Fuck!"

It looked like a female hand. (A/N: Whose hand it might have been?)

With lightning speed it shot forward, wrapping spindly fingers around Azaroth's throat in an iron grip 'Ugh! what kind of power is th—'.

'WTF!!!!!'

His allies could only watch in horror as Azaroth was yanked violently backwards into the dimensional rift.

*Swoo-crackle-pop*

 It snapped shut with him engulfed within, vanishing as quickly as it had come.

The whole abduction took place in the blink of an eye.

"W..what was that? what should we do now!?"

Kim Joon and Yoo Jin stood stunned, still processing what just transpired. One moment Azaroth was leading them forth, the next he was gone without a trace.

What the FUCK was happening!!!

Well, you guys should be thinking- where the fuck is Jin Woo?

You guys remember that he overheard the call of the soldier right? But now there were no reinforcements in the Mall and the call clearly said that they needed more reinforcements... I guess many of the intelligent ones now understand.
