Chapter 3: Nothing Happened?

Chloe goes home and carries the woman onto her bed to know if she's okay. She checks her pulse and sees that she was breathing fine but her skin was as pale as snow. She changes clothes as she contemplates whether to take the woman to a hospital because of her condition. She decided it would be the best thing to do but she was worried to come back out again since the monster might attack once again.

Chloe tries to think of a plan, realizing that she can't leave the woman alone in her house and she can't risk driving to the hospital in case the monster appears again. She decides to call the police and report the attack, hoping that they can send someone to take the woman to the hospital and investigate the creature that attacked her.

While waiting for the police to arrive, Chloe tries to keep the woman comfortable, giving her water and making sure she's warm. The woman starts to stir and Chloe gently asks her what happened.

When Chloe asked the woman what happened to her. She smiled and acted as if nothing happened. She said that she was just having fun and probably passed out. Seeming to be unaware of the monster that attacked her.

"Are you sure? You were yelling for help on the road when this figure attacked you. Do you not remember anything about it? Chloe tried to probe into the woman.

"Nope, I'm sure I was just having some fun. Sorry for bothering you." She smiled softly.

Chloe felt uneasy as she listened to the woman's words. It was as if she was being controlled or under some sort of spell. She decided to probe further and asked the woman if she remembered anything unusual happening before she passed out.

The woman's smile faded a bit and she seemed to struggle to recall something. After a few moments of silence, she shook her head and said that she couldn't remember anything out of the ordinary.

Chloe's mind raced as she tried to make sense of what was happening. She couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the woman's story than what she was letting on. She wondered if the monster had somehow tampered with the woman's memory, or if she was part of some larger scheme.

As she considered her options, Chloe realized that she couldn't just leave the woman alone. She made the decision to take her to the hospital, despite the risk of encountering the monster again. She helped the woman get dressed and carefully guided her out to her car.

The drive to the hospital was tense, with Chloe keeping a watchful eye on the roads and her surroundings. The woman sat silently beside her, seemingly lost in thought. As they approached the hospital, Chloe felt a wave of relief wash over her. They had made it without incident.

Once inside, they were quickly attended to by medical staff who took the woman's vitals and began running tests. Chloe explained what had happened to the best of her ability, leaving out the part about the monster. The doctors seemed to take her seriously, but Chloe couldn't help feeling like they didn't believe her.

As they waited for the test results, Chloe kept a watchful eye on the hospital's entrances and exits, hoping that the monster wouldn't show up again. She couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched, and that the danger was far from over.

After the medical staff took her in. They told Chloe that she was fine, and nothing was wrong with her. Making her look like a crazy lunatic to them. She just didn't say anything as bringing up a monster would make her look crazy.

"Are you sure? I saw her in such a bad state when she was on the road." She interjected the medical staff.

"Yes ma'am. We are sure that nothing is wrong with her. Although she feels a little lightheaded. Thank you for bringing her here, you may leave now, we'll handle calling her relatives since you aren't her family member." The medical staff told her. She nodded and started to head home.

Chloe felt frustrated and confused. She knew what she saw was real, but the medical staff seemed to think otherwise. She decided to leave the hospital and head back home, feeling defeated and alone.

As she walked into her house, she couldn't help but replay the events of the night in her mind. She started to wonder if she was losing her mind, seeing things that weren't really there. She felt scared and alone in her thoughts.

Chloe thought that the stress probably got to her and she hallucinated everything but she was sure that she wasn't crazy. What happened was real. What could have possibly been that shadow figure be? She texted Jessica and Damien about it

Chloe's phone buzzed with a response from Jessica almost immediately. "Are you okay? What happened?" the message read.

Chloe took a deep breath before typing out her response. "I don't know, Jess. I was driving home after dropping Damien off and I saw this shadowy figure on the side of the road. I thought it was a homeless person at first, but then I heard a scream in the distance and saw its red glowing eyes."

Jessica's response was quick again. "That's crazy! Are you okay? Did you call the police?"

Chloe shook her head. "No, I didn't call the police. I didn't see anything else and I didn't want to seem crazy. But then, when I got home, I found a woman on the side of the road. She was pale and barely conscious. I brought her back to my place, but she didn't remember anything about what happened. And when the paramedics came, they said she was fine."

There was a long pause before Jessica responded. "That's really strange, Chloe. I don't know what to say. Do you think there's any connection between the shadowy figure and the woman you found?"

Chloe thought about it for a moment before responding. "I don't know. It's possible, but I can't be sure. I just have this feeling that something weird is going on."

Damien chimed in with a message. "Hey, just got your text. That's really weird, Chloe. Do you want me to come over and we can talk about it?"

Chloe smiled at the message. She was grateful to have friends who believed her, even if they didn't fully understand what was going on. "Yeah, that would be great. Thanks, Damien but I have to work tomorrow. Let's talk after my work alright?"

Chloe put her phone down and leaned back against her couch. She still didn't have any answers, but she knew that she wasn't crazy. Something strange was definitely happening but she doesn't have time to worry about that now. She needs to get herself ready for the first day of her job tomorrow.
