Chapter 14: Fake It Till You Make It

"I mean I'm sure I can take over the dance practice for now. I mean you said that the concert will be in the week so there's plenty of time for us to switch bodies until then." Chloe explains to Jessica but she can tell that Jessica is worried.

"Is something wrong Jess?" Damien shows Jessica some concern.

"Jessica's panic starts to show in her voice, "Chloe, I don't think you understand the toxic environment of the dance industry. I'm not sure if you can handle it. The constant pressure, the criticism, the competition. It's not for the faint-hearted. There would be a lot of things that you would be subjected to and it's really awful."

"I'm not saying it's going to be easy," Chloe admits. "But we have to make this work somehow. We can't stay like this forever."

Damien speaks up, "Chloe's right. We have to try to adjust to each other's lives, at least until we figure out how to reverse this. And as for tomorrow, since I'm in Chloe's body. Do you have something you have to do tomorrow or are you completely free?"

Jessica takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "Okay, fine. Let's try to make this work. But we have to be careful. We don't know what kind of consequences this could have."

Chloe nods in agreement, "I understand your concerns, Jessica. But we have to try. We can't just give up and let this body swap control our lives."

"Okay, I'll do my best," Jessica says with a sigh. "But I'm warning you, it's not going to be easy."

Damien chimes in, "Don't worry, Jessica. I'll be there to help you. We'll make sure everything runs smoothly at the school tomorrow. And Chloe, I'm sure you'll do great at dance practice. Just remember to take it one step at a time."

Chloe nods, "Thanks, Damien. I appreciate it."

As they continued to discuss their plans for the next day, Chloe's phone rang again. This time, Damien answered it.

"Hello?" Damien said, trying to sound like Chloe.

"Chloe, it's me, your aunt," the voice on the other end said. "I'm glad you picked up. I need to talk to you tomorrow about something important."

"Sure, Auntie," Damien said, feeling nervous. "What is it about?"

"It's something personal," the aunt said. "I'll explain when I see you tomorrow. And make sure you dress nicely, okay?"

"Uh, okay," Damien said, feeling even more nervous. He knew he would have to somehow convince Chloe's aunt that he was actually Chloe, without giving away the fact that they had switched bodies.

Chloe looked at Damien, worried. "What are we going to do?" she asked.

Damien shrugged. "I don't know. We'll have to figure it out tomorrow. Maybe we can come up with a plan before we go see her."

Jessica spoke up, "Maybe I can help. I can give you some tips on how to act like Chloe. And we can make sure you dress appropriately too."

Chloe smiled gratefully at Jessica, "That's a good idea. Thank you, Jess."

Damien nodded, feeling a little better. "Thanks, Jessica. That would be really helpful."

"So much for research tomorrow..." Damien sighs.

"I doubt it's gonna take a long time after you and my aunt talk. Perhaps you can head straight to the library?" Chloe reassures them.

Chloe nods in agreement. "We just have to do our best and hope for the best. Alright, let's review what we have to do tomorrow since it's really late. We won't have enough rest if we keep talking like this."

"Well, then I'll go home now. I have some paperwork I need to prepare tomorrow and I can't do it here." Damien tries to walk out.

"I don't think it'd be best to go home at this rate. Considering that you are in my body, people might think you're trespassing or a robber, Jessica. Besides I don't even trust going out this night. What if Claude is outside and ready to hunt us? This spell was supposed to be a protection spell but all it did is switch our bodies."

"I really need to do some paperwork. So I guess I'll just do it digitally. Can I borrow your laptop?" Damien asks for the laptop, and he grabs it on Chloe's desk. As he was doing that, Jessica approaches her and asks. "Hey, we should probably practice some of the dance moves for tomorrow, if you end up being behind, they'll rip you apart tomorrow, and I can't let that happen. So I'll teach you all the dance steps tomorrow."

"Alright. Perhaps that would be best since I never really dance your style. I usually do ballet and stuff. I did a lot of it when I was a kid so I suppose I can do this." Chloe tries to reassure herself but she can't help but feel scared about what she is going to go to.

"While you're at it. Jessica, you should work on your language by the way. You shouldn't swear in front of the children, you also have to be calm and be very supportive since some of them have special needs." Damien alerts Jessica while the two of them are practicing their steps in the open kitchen.

"We shouldn't practice too long though, since we all need our rest. It's like 1 AM now and the practice is at 9 AM so we really need to sleep. When is this field trip going to happen again?" Jessica turns to Damien who is doing some paperwork on Chloe's laptop.

"The field trip is at 10 AM so you should have plenty of time to get ready. I'm trying to look at the schedule and preparing some stuff for you to say so you don't end up a deer in the headlights." Damien informs Jessica.

"Great. I'll also make a note for Chloe since I wouldn't be with her during the practice so it would be best if I make some information that she should say in case she was asked questions." Jessica pulled out her phone to write notes but Chloe suddenly says.

"Can I get your phone? Wouldn't it be suspicious if we're using our phones in our different bodies." Chloe innocently asks Jessica but her face suddenly turns into worry.
