Im happy for you

Sumire continued to stay still but it only led to Sano thinking it was fine. Then suddenly he slumped in her arms. The sudden contact surprised her and she froze.

"Sorry, just give me a few minutes. I've been working a lot recently." Sano mumbled an apology.

Hearing his unsteady breathing, Sumire lifted his face from her chest and placed her hand on his forehead. Heat immediately transferred to her palm.

'When he is sick, he is quieter than usual.' So, this is the reason why he was acting odd.

"I told you not to overdo it, were you studying too hard again? You need to sleep early and eat your meals on time." Sumire reprimanded.

"There has been a lot to do."

Sumire sighed. This stubborn side of him hasn't changed at all. She lays him down on the couch, and looked around. There was another room, which she assumed would be the bathroom.

'Get some water and towels.'

Sano extended his hand out and she immediately grabs hold of it.

Ah, there it is again. The natural reaction. It seems like she was right to avoid him after they broke up. Two months later she is still behaving like this.

'I am only helping him because he has been helping Ru. I need to keep repeating that.'

His gaze seemed gentle. "Your singing was very nice to listen to."

Sumire blinked surprised. Oh, this is the first time he is complimenting her singing. Moreover, when was the last time he looked at her like this?

"Did you come there to see me?"

She thought, no she convinced herself that he was only at the venue to fetch Ru who escaped. But, he was there to listen to her singing?

"Yeah. It wasn't easy getting a ticket though, your very popular."

She truly doesn't understand why he is being kind to her now. Even if he has become friends with Ru, this kindness is unusual and it hurts. Sumire pulls her hand away.

"I'll grab a towel, is the bathroom next door?"

Sano nodded and she quickly walked away. The minute she got inside the bathroom, she slumped to the ground. This is too weird. Why is he behaving like this now?

He is being kind, but he isn't apologising for what he did. Then, he probably doesn't think he did anything wrong. Or maybe it's like what Ru said, they may have broken up but that doesn't mean they have to continue being hostile.

There was a time where he was very good to her and she truly grew to care about him. Sumire shakes her head. There is no use having these thoughts now. The next time she sees Toh she will accept his feelings and they will be in a relationship. She needs to focus on what she is going to say to him, and instead of getting distracted like this.

Sumire looked around and found a cabinet, there she saw a row of towels. Sumire picked a small one up and paused. This looks a bit familiar. Spotting a purple coloured towel with her initial on it. Ah, these are the matching towel set she got him when he was redecorating his apartment.

'Why is mine here, I thought I left this at his place?' Confused, Sumire simply took the towel with Sano's initials, filled up a basin with cold water and exited the room.

She watched as Sano tossed and turned on the couch uncomfortable. He already ate something earlier, maybe she can give him some medicine?

"Sumire?" Sano weakly called out.

"Mm, I'm here."

"I want to listen to you sing. You used to sing for me when I got sick."

Yes she did, but didn't he find that annoying before? She truly doesn't understand the current him. But, it's better than him being hostile towards her. Sumire quickly agreed and sang the lyrics from the song she sang the other day as she placed the towel on his forehead.

When she stopped singing, she looked at him concerned. "You need to remember to eat and sleep." Sumire mumbled. "You can't, abuse your body like this."

"What if I say it's because I missed you?"

A pained gaze appears on her face.

'I can't trust those words. How could I possibly trust him ever again? He maybe acting kind today, but who knows what his behaviour will be like tomorrow? A week from now? I cannot trust this person.'

There is a wall between our hearts, a wall that will not fall again.

"Whatever the reason is, don't neglect yourself. How can you look after Ru if your like this?"

Sumire immediately regretted her words afterwards. Isn't she making it sound like she is only taking care of him, because of Ru?

"I see."

Uh, sensing his icy tone Sumire almost tried to explain herself. She shakes her head. Maybe it's better if he misunderstands. If it wasn't for Ru getting sick, she wouldn't even be talking to him again.

"You, haven't been dropping by the cafe recently. The staff there were asking about you."

The 'cafe' Sano is talking about is a cafe that is located between her school, the hospital and near the Nagawa family company building. Normally when Sano drove her to school, they'd drop by there to have breakfast together.

Of course she wouldn't go there anymore. It's a place Sano goes too often, and it's too close to the hospital and his family company. Naturally she marked the cafe as one of the places she needed to avoid going too. It is actually very difficult since it's close to school.

'I resort to taking the long way route to school now.' But it is truly for the best. She has only gotten a glimpse of him once or twice since their break up. That wouldn't have been possible if she continued to use her usual route.

"I-I've been a bit busy, my company plans to make me debut soon." Sumire mumbled an awkward reply.

It wasn't a complete lie, the company has been busy with her debut preparations. But there isn't an actual date yet and they are waiting for her to be more comfortable. If she isn't comfortable, they won't force her to debut.

"I see, you are truly making your dreams come true. That's great."

Sumire's gaze softened hearing his words. Now that she thought about it, even though he disliked the entertainment industry and disliked it when she sang. He never forced her to stop singing, he would just grumble a bit. But he never forced her to stop.

She suspected that the only reason he disliked the entertainment industry was because her practice cut in on their dates, and the little time they spend together due to their different schedules.

"What about you?" Sumire looked around. "This is your office right? Are you going to be an official doctor soon?"

"Yes, I have a few more tests and practice sessions. But I'm all set, I already have a licence."

Sumire's eyes brightened hearing those words. "That's great, I'm happy for you."

After all, she saw with her own eyes how hard he worked on his studies.
