Set Fire to Rain

In the shadow of tragedy, Meredith's world crumbled like a fragile sandcastle, swept away by the merciless waves of fate. With her mother's demise echoing in her soul, a sinister revelation emerged – her father had gambled away their fortune, leaving behind a staggering debt that clawed at the edges of her existence. As if scripted by the cruel hand of destiny, Meredith's father fled, abandoning her to face the financial tempest alone. The burden of survival rested heavily on her young shoulders, and the weight threatened to shatter her resolve. But amid the debris of despair, an unexpected lifeline emerged, weaving an enigmatic twist into the narrative of her upheaval. Paris, the city of love and lights, became the backdrop for Meredith's metamorphosis. Yet, the glamour of the French capital remained elusive as her modest budget clashed with the city's extravagant reality. Shelter, a basic human need, became a luxury she could ill afford. Then, like a subtle melody in the cacophony of her turmoil, Matthew entered the stage. A peculiar proposition danced in the air – he offered her a room in his apartment. However, fate, in its mischievous playfulness, cast Matthew as a central figure in a drama laced with bitterness. Matthew, the ex-flame of her closest confidante Maria, was the embodiment of a past Meredith despised. The lingering embers of their tumultuous history sparked a tension that crackled beneath the surface. Would Meredith swallow her pride, her disdain for Maria's ex-lover, and accept the refuge offered by this unexpected ally? Or, would she face the unforgiving streets of Paris, choosing solitude over the discomfort of cohabiting with her nemesis? As Meredith contemplates this paradoxical predicament, a curious metaphor unfolds – fire and water forced into a reluctant alliance within the confines of a shared space. The sparks of their clashing personalities promise a spectacle, a sizzling fusion of passion and cool detachment. In the heart of Paris, where love and defiance dance hand in hand, Meredith and Matthew find themselves bound by circumstance, fanning the flames of an unlikely companionship. Yet, beneath the surface of this unconventional arrangement lies the question that lingers like an unspoken secret – can Meredith, the fiery protagonist scarred by her past, find solace and redemption in the proximity of her watery counterpart? The streets of Paris hold the answers, echoing with the footsteps of a young woman navigating the intricate alleys of loss, pride, and the unforeseen chemistry that ignites when opposites collide.

We nailed it

"I can't believe you made this Meredith, the world is going to be blown away by this design," Mark remarked.

"Very true Mark, It's going to make headlines tomorrow morning, just thinking about gives me goosebumps," Gabby added

"You guys are just exaggerating, it's no better than any other design out there." Meredith hummed as she wore the dress.

"Meredith don't try to be polite, you call this masterpiece normal please," Gabby grins still can't get enough of the dress.

"Why don't you go out there and you will see if this is normal," Tatiana whispered confidently.

The rest of the models walk down the runway one after the other. And when they were done, they all went together as the crowd exhilarated.

Now it was time to close the show and Meredith was the one to close the show with her splendid, amazing mind-blowing dress once again.

She let out a deep breath before finally stepping on stage confidently with the most amazing smile ever.

Matthew has to look away from the camera to stare at her for a while before continuing to take the pictures.

She was looking amazing he couldn't find the words to describe how she was looking, the crowd was blown away as expected.

They cheered for her like crazy and the media couldn't stop taking pictures of her and the new collection. In the end, it was a great success. Meredith goes back to the dressing room as everyone welcomes her with applause. She wasn't only the star of the show but the saviour.

"Thank God, it is finally over," Tatiana mumbled, exhausted as everyone had worked hard for the success of the show. "Still have one more problem to deal with, I'm so angry that I'm literally losing it, trying to be patient but I can't. I really can't stay put," Meredith pouts.

"What problem Meredith?" Mark muttered, everyone, wondered what could be pissing her off when the show was a success.

"What else Marisa, that girl is giving me a headache, she ruined my night. I simply can't get over it now I have to tell the board members why she wasn't on the runway," Meredith said holding her forehead. She wished Marisa was before her so she could yell in her face.

Meredith since the death of her mother has been holding on to a wave of deep anger that keeps piling up by the day. She finds it hard to get over issues that are not in her control.

"Are you still worried about that after the wonder you just pulled up? Believe me, I don't think anyone is going to bother Marisa didn't make it to the show because you, my dear were amazing, and trust me tomorrow's headlines are going to be all about you." Mark mumbled hugging Meredith who was struggling to get a grip on herself.

"Everyone is going to forget about Marisa. She thought she was planning to ruin you but instead, she paved the way for you and buried her own career, now everybody is going to be talking about you, Meredith... Meredith... wait for the headlines tomorrow trust me you'll be amazed," Gabby grins a deep dent appearing on both sides of her cheeks.

"I hope this goes well and the management doesn't hold us responsible for what happened," Meredith let out a sigh.

"I think I need some rest I have a headache," Meredith muttered after she changed her clothes and washed away the makeup from her face. The team was still packing everything used for the show.

"Listen up everyone, thanks to all your hard work today, it's because of all of you that the show was a great success." Meredith grins.

"I'm happy to have you guys as my teammates," Meredith whispers as everyone feels her sincerity and warm love.

"I promise you guys a treat tomorrow but for tonight please have some rest, I'm tired and I'm going home," Meredith sniffed as she got her handbag.

"Okay Meredith we will be looking forward to our treat," Michael mumbled, the rest of the team agreed with him with a grin.

"Sure hurry up and go home," Meredith smiles.

"Are you leaving? I can drop you home," a voice said behind Meredith. She turns to see Eddie smiling at her.

"Thank you, but I can manage," Meredith said ignoring him after rejecting his offer.

"Come on, I just want to help, you look tired. let me drop home. just say yes," Eddie insisted, just like Matthew not used to being rejected.

"No thanks Eddie, you don't have to. I can take care of myself," Meredith pouts increasing her pace as Eddie takes offence by her attitude towards him.

"Why do you always reject my offer? Yet it is so easy for you to say yes to Matthew," Eddie said sarcastically raising his voice before bringing it down and looking around if someone heard him

"Excuse me!" Meredith yells looking at Eddie angrily, he was feeling sorry for what he had just said.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that," Eddie apologised. After he recognised he had no right or business getting angry or asking her that. The look on Meredith's face quickly made him concede that. Her angry mean face.

"Just that I'm not...." Eddie said almost whispering as he stared at Meredith who cut him short.

"Just that what? You are not used to being rejected is that it? I have every right to reject your offer if I don't want to ride with your silly ass. It's that simple. I'm not going to and you have no business with who I ride home with so just stay within your limit," Meredith angrily said as Mark and Gabby walked in on them.

Eddie was overcome with embarrassment as tears threatened to spill from his red cheeks. He had never been put in his place like this before, especially by a girl he was trying to impress.

Despite feeling humiliated, he was more determined than ever to win her over. He felt like a hunter, pursuing his prey relentlessly without giving up. He believed he held the power because he was the hunter, but he forgot that sometimes the prey could turn the tables and gain the upper hand.

"I'm leaving now see you guys tomorrow," Meredith mumbles to Mark and Gabby.

"Bye-bye," Mark and Gabby replied staring at Eddie who had his hands on his waist. Meredith angrily walks away when Eddie tries to follow her by holding her hand to stop her.

"Meredith... Wait.." Eddie frets. Meredith angrily yanks his hands off.

"Get your hands off me, don't you understand a simple NO," Meredith chuckled, she was getting angry with her headache and the stress she had to go through during the day Eddie was making it worse, the last she wanted was a spoilt brat who is not used to receiving a No as an answer getting on her nerves.

"Listen Eddie I don't know what you're interested in by doing all this but please leave me the hell alone! I'm not interested in you or anything that has to do with you, if it's about work fine but please stop making all those gestures at me I'm not interested, they make me sick," Meredith said point-blank as if he dropped a bomb to Eddie's face, his face dropped in shock since the whole scene was witnessed by other staffs that were still around.

He has been rejected in a row even before he proposed his love to her.

"Meredith I was just...." He tries to redeem himself but Meredith is not having that.

"Eddie please she is having a headache don't hold on to this matter any longer she can go home by herself," Mark whispers in Eddie's ears tapping his shoulders.

Meredith walks out of the building without Eddie following him. Eddie angrily took the opposite direction after Meredith left. Meredith saw a car light blinking on and off drawing her attention. Matthew was in his car waiting purposefully for Meredith. Meredith jumped in fright when she heard the car horn directed at her. She tilted her head a little to see who it was.

"Matthew," she whispered when he recognized the car.

"Oh God these boys won't leave me alone, I feel like stranding them and tying both of them together using Marisa as the rope, birds of the same feathers indeed. They are both so annoying," Meredith cursed, whispering to herself.

She ignores him, the cab she ordered has already arrived she enters and leaves without looking back at Matthew who is still blowing his horns.

Just then Matthew spotted Eddie who precipitously walked to his car. Matthew realized something was off and decided to check on him. As he stepped out of the car Eddie entered his car and drove off speedily. Matthew hastily runs to his car to follow him.

"What happened to you, Eddie?" Matthew whimpers with how he is looking and the speed he is on he could actually get into an accident.

Wait a minute is Meredith responsible for the state Eddie is in right now? Do you want to share how you handle rejection or how you nicely reject someone? let me know your thoughts on the comment session. happy reading
