After the pylons were destroyed, the portal steadily became smaller, but strangely enough, it didn't feel like Kurai was possibly losing his last chance at getting back to Earth. 

In fact, for some reason, he actually felt relieved that he would stay and the realization hit him like a punch in the gut that, apparently, he'd never really fit in anywhere on Earth anway.

Lilith seemed to notice the change in him because she stepped closer to him, "Is everything alright? You have this really strange air hanging around you ever since we got here. Do you know where this portal leads?"
