Wren stood there, watching the Orphanage with intent eyes. She wasn't there, he could sense it. Or rather, she had been there not too long ago. It was hard to tell. The snow had covered up all the tracks. The problem now was leaving. An old man was there. And he had seen him.

"This is my final warning, young man, come out, or you'd not like what happens next."

Beside him was a girl with brown hair. She had a strong aura about her, like she had been trained to fight. It would have been alright, save the way the aura was. Though small, it was still threatening. Wren could tell that she herself didn't know. She had been trained to kill.

"I mean no harm. I'm just looking for a girl. Her name is Meimei. Meimei Vonharte."

"And why would you come here for here?"

"Because she came here."

"Really?"

Wren appeared. Somehow, he felt like he had seen him somewhere. He just couldn't place his finger as to where he had seen that person. He just seemed older, with more grey hair.

"She isn't here." He said, "At least, not right now,"

"We can't trust him, father."

"Alfa, don't judge a man by his appearance. He isn't from around here, am I wrong?"

Wren smiled. He'd been caught red-handed, and he knew that it wasn't the fact that he knew Meimei's full name that had given him away.

"She'll return, surely she will," the man assured Wren, "but then it seems like there is a lot of chaos going on."

"Apparently the gangs are going to start a fight."

The old man looked at Wren with displeasure. "Ah, then I must go look for them after all."

The two kids run through the snow. The Chaos was already beginning. There were explosions everywhere as the gangs began their full out onslaught. More bottles with on fire were thrown, heck someone managed to find a grenade. The gangs soon stopped their bombarding, after there were enough houses blown up, but that was not the end. Screams and shouts could be heard from the civilians as they ran from the ongoing chaos. Children cried over the corpses of their parents, and vice versa. And then the Wolfs came. They cut through the civilians with ease, killing most of the adults and dragging the children away, turning the snow a deep red color. The smell of smoke and iron was concentrated in the air. They pinned banners to the ground; a white background with a wolf on it, howling and laughing.

Until a spear was thrown, embedding itself in the chest of one of the Wolves. The others turned, seeing a sole Orca member. Then all hell was let loose. Orca members rushed out from all sides, wielding cutlasses, guns and knives. Some even had gifts. They clashed with their enemies, continuing the bloodbath.

Leo watched all this from where he and Meimei hid. Meimei had covered her ears and closed her eyes, unable to bear the sight of the massacre. Was this how cruel they could be? Why were they hurting each other? Why were they attacking people for no reason at all, innocent people at that? The more Meimei asked herself these questions, the more she was disheartened by them. She couldn't block out the screams, and she was already in tears before she knew it.

Leo on the other hand was not thinking of the same thing. His mind was differwnt. The war seemed rushed, like someone had been trying to fast forward the events. The dead body that had been hanged up was the guy that had tried to get Meimei. But that would have n=meant that he had gone to the Lower Half. Why though?

Leo shook his head. Now wasn't the time to think about this. They had to move. If they stayed there, they'd be dragged by either gang to add to their forces. And they'd do anything to get their hands on a powerful gifted like Meimei. If only she hadn't come after him.

"Let's go!" Leo said, grabbing her wrist. The two made it through debris, running along the crowd that was also running away. A bomb blew up a few meters away from them, the shockwave sending all of them flying backwards. For a moment, Leo couldn't move, hearing but a loud ringing in his ears. Meimei shook him violently.

"Leo, get up!" she cried frantically. All around them was fire and debris. "Come on, let's go!" she said. Leo got up to his feet, and the two continued running. He didn't recognize the place anymore, this wasn't a place he normally came to. He didn't even know whether they were in the lower or upper Half. They just needed to get as far away as possible from here.

The two ducked into a corner, panting and catching their breath. The sounds of war were far away from them now, at least for now. They could hopefully wait here, wait till the war subsided. If it subsided.

Meimei slumped to the ground, tired. "We need to go back to the orphanage."

"We can't. The Orphanage is in the middle of the Below. Besides, we'd have to go around it. "

"Then let's do that."

"The ice plains. You might have fire powers, but without knowing how to use it, it's as good as nothing."

"Oh, did I hear something about fire powers?"

The two children turned to see who had spoken. It was a man. He wore a long white coat, which had been stained red, over black clothes. In one hand, he held a boomerang, the other was dragging a man, who was bleeding profusely.

"Wow, not only do I get to start a war, I also get to have so much fun. And now I've found myself quite a big catch." Karver laughed, this week is the best week ever!"
